  1. Hi all Wondering if anyone can help.... We have a 3mth old daughter, born here in Oz to two British Citizens here on a permanent residency visa. Now, as far as we understand it she should get automatic rights to getting a British Passport being that we are both British. Can anyone confirm this & also advise on how we would go about getting her a passport. I've been searching on the internet, but it's a total mine-field & I'm getting thoroughly confused by all the rules & regulations! I'm hoping there is someone out there who has had the same issue & got their Aussie born child a British passport.....help! Thanks
  2. Just wondering if anyone out there can give meany information on the impact on your visa status if you are in oz under permanent residence visa and have a baby whilst in oz. Is the child automatically an Australian citizen? Does the birth of a child have any impact on the rest of the family's permanent visa status especially if they only stay for a couple of years before going back to the uk and don't return inside the initial 5 years period of the PR visa? Thanks in advance for your response. Jay
  3. 176 eVisa has been lodged. Case Officer has been assigned. Supporting docs have been uploaded. Had an email from CO confirming that everything we have sent to date is sufficient and that our application will be put on hold until after our baby is born at the end of Sept. If anyone else has been through a similar process, could you share with me roughly how long afterwards did the process take. We plan to register her birth asap. Does a birth cert alone suffice or will we need to get her a passport as well. Once we've notified our CO of her birth, I will then be able to go for my medicals & we'll submit our police checks at the same time. How long should it take after that to get an answer. Cheers
  4. Hello all, Pretty shocked to find it's going to cost another £1100 for a visa for our newly born son as our 176 Visa has already been issued. (see email below from CO) My burning question is, where do I send the completed application forms and how do I pay? I may be a bit thick, but I can't find this info anywhere! The 176 visa was all done and paid for online, however the child migrant 101 appears to be paper only... Any help would be great fully received! Thanks in advance, Dave Dear Mr. Alger Thank you for your email. Congratulations on the birth of your son. Please view our website in regard to visa options for your son as we are unable to add him to your granted Skilled - (VE 176) Sponsored visa. Child Visa (Subclass 101)

What country was I born in?

Ok, silly question, but on the online application there is both United Kingdom & England. Which do I pick? Does it matter?

  7. Hi all This is a question that some off you might be able to answer and other's wont, my wife is 5mths pregnant with our 3rd child and due in may. I have a job that could start very soon in Mackay QLD, but due to her flying may have to postpone till after baby is here. now... i know you can take strollers on a plane with you as we did this with our eldest when travelling but how do we stand on a full on new born pram i.e travel system?? will the airline want the car seat in the hold? it also comes with carry cot that goes in the pushchair (which we thought would be ideal for bubba to sleep in once we arrive for a night or too untill we get her a cot organised. we don't want to spent what could be a couple of hundred pounds on something we cant take with us. I hope this makes sense, and I haven't gone on too much. Thanks Karl, Becky +2.5childen

New born baby visa dilema ?

We were lucky to have our 175 permanent resident visa granted in June last year. My partner then fell pregnant with our 2nd child in September. We managed to validate our visa in March this year but are unsure how we go about obtaining a visa for our yet unborn child ? Can he (we already know the sex!) be added to our visa or do we need to apply for a separate one ? Does anyone know the timescales, has been through a similar process and know the costs ?

Passport for baby born in Aus

I am just about to apply for an australian passport for my baby daughter, but I was wondering if anyone knows whether I need to get a citizenship certificate for her as well? I heard from somewhere, that I would need to get a citizenship certificate as well. Is this true?
  11. I have a pregnant fiancee in Vietnam who is due to give end of this month. My migration agent has finished and sent off the application for the Prospective marriage visa last Friday, and i plan to travel to Vietnam next week and stay there for close to 3months. As the baby is not born yet we cannot put baby down on application as dependent, and was told to write a letter to Embassy after baby is born to have baby included in application. I would like to know if i should be using the 118 citizenship by descent form then applying for Australian passport for baby. I would like to take this path as i heard from a friend that the Vietnamese government will not allow a child to leave the country until it is 2years old. Is this true? What are the chances of immigration giving her the fiancee visa within 3months so she and our baby can fly together to Australia. How difficult and fast would this process be as i am only staying about 3months in Vietnam. (Also when i applied for paternity leave of up to 14 weeks and stating i will return to work early if my immigration matter is handled quickly and telling my employer of my situation, they told me it was awfully long and when i come back i might not have a job. I went straight to my union delegate and told them what happened and my union delegate confronted this employer after i finished work and denied saying what he said to me and called me a liar. After this argument, the next day they approved my leave)
  12. We had a lovely little baby boy which has had his Australian Passport come through today for our flights on Saturday to the UK (Holiday to bring the baby back to inlaws etc) I know he can get a UK Passport etc (we opted for the OZ one as would have been quicker) Does he require a Tourist Visa for entry to the UK? We will all be using our ENglish Passports.. Thanks John
  13. Hi My friend and his wife both hold permanent residency visas of Australia. Both have been living in Australia for 1 year. They have just had a new arrival in the family but the baby was born in the UK. They are planning to leave for Australia in the next 2 months but before they go, they need to sort out the baby's visa. Does anyone know if the baby is entitled to permanent residence status? If so, how to apply for this and what form to fill in? Or is is better to get the baby an ETA and travel to Australia and apply onshore for the PR visa? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks, Benny.

  15. Hi everyone, Just found this forum and really hoping I can get some answers to questions about applying for my first UK passport as the official documents don't make it that clear. I was born in the UK in 1976, have full Australian citizenship, never married. Have been living here since i was 4 or so and plan to go back there mid year to live for a while. On the document I have to fill out, the C1 form seems to only need section 1a which is my details completed (other than the counter signature/emergency contacts etc obviously). I'm not naturalised as British citizen at all either so there is nothing to put in that section. Does this sound right? Also it also asks about previous passports. Does this include my Australian one? Should I send that to the British High Commission when I apply? If anyone who has been in the same situation as me and could share what they had to do it would be really appreciated. Thanks Stewart
  16. My boyfriend (Australian Permanent Resident) & I (UK citizen) want to be together. We have decided we would like to live in Australia. We haven't lived together for 12 months but we have travelled between UK & Oz for 3 years. We love each other very much but I think I may come across some obstacles: 1. We haven't lived together for a 12 month period as it's impossible with his work commitments. 2. I have a child & may have problems getting his father to sign authorisation. So my question is, How do we solve these issues & which visa do we apply for? Will it be easier to get married or go via partner visa? Many Thanks.
  17. I am just looking into British Citizenship for my 2 children. I am a permanent resident now here in QLD and have 2 kids aged 6 and nearly 3. They both were born in Oz and have Oz passports but I just started looking into getting them UK Passports. Does anyone have any experience with this and what direction to start in. Do I have to get citizenship for them first then apply for passports. Are they automatically uk citizens because I am? I think I have to apply before they are 18, but too much information to look at online, so thought I'd ask if anyone has gone thru this process for their kids. The first place I looked was on the Home office UK border agency website and the price for applying for a child was 460 quid....this seems a bit expensive....any answers please.
  18. Hi everyone We are returning to the UK after 6 years in Melbourne and hope to leave in around 3 months. Both our children were born here - if returning to the UK on a one way plane ticket do they require UK passports? One child already has an Aussie passport, and we are both Scottish with British passports. But It has just occured to me that if on a one way ticket they may need UK passports. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated as we seem to be cutting things a bit fine now! Many thanks for your help KKT

    Migrant Boom

"ABS survey reveals migrant boom A report from the Australian Bureau of Statistics has found that more than a quarter of people living in Australia were born overseas. The report examined migration data for the financial year ending in mid 2008, and includes people who stay in the country for more than 12 months." The numbers have been inflated by various (anti immigration) researchers such as Bob Birrell of Monash University who recommends restricting opportunities for Australian immigration due to one or all of the following: environment, overpopulation, taking Aussie jobs, lack of English (too many NESBs Non English Speaking Background), lack of social assimiliation, lack of appreciation of Aussie values (whatever they are), forcing up house prices, lack of cross cultural skills, wrong colour, smelly food etc. etc. Migration statistics now include temporary visa holders e.g. students, 457, Working Holiday Visa etc. if they stay over one year.....a very significant increase compared to just PRs.....but (social and political "Skip") agenda in Oz seems to be scaring Australians into thinking they are being overrun....way of life being threatened....somethings never change....
  22. Hi All ive searched the net and cannot find anything that relates to my situation After gaining my Aussie permenant residency last week:jiggy: im now looking at getting my baby girl dual citizenship. Hopefully someone out there has been in a similar circumstance Our baby girl was born in Aus 9 months ago and has a british dad and an Australian mum. She is regarded as an Australian citizen. Im hopeing to get her registered as a British citizen so in a few years she could get a passport etc to make it easier for us when we go too and from the UK. Is this possible and roughly what do i need to do and can i do it from over here and not the UK? :arghh: Thx
  23. Heres my question... I want to visit England in February next year and my daughter will be 9 months old. I was going to apply for her British Passport but I don't know what and if she will need a visa ( i rang immigration and i think i confused them too!) I have a permanent resident visa in my passport and if i was to get my daughter a British passport she obviously wouldn't need a visa to get into England but although she is an australian citizen to come back on a british passport i dont know if i would need to get some visa stamp in there so anyway to save confusion coming back im going to get her an aussie passport but does anyone know if she will need a visa to enter england? I hope this makes sence and someone can help me, There is a chance i will be trav elling to england on my own which im not looking forward to at all so i want to make my journey as stress free as possible. Thanks in advance x

    457->PR->Baby born

Hi all I really need an advice. I have got a family (two kinds 5yo and 2yo) and we have lived for more than two years on 457 visa. I applied for PR last June, precisely 6th June 2007, and not surprisingly we have not yet CO. In mean time we found (I mean the doctors found) that my wife is pregnant and due date is 28th June 2008. Also I was not experienced enough to know that medicals and PC should not be sent with initial application and 12 month validity period will expire next week. First of all I wonder if we could get PR with medicals and PC older than 12 months. Secondly do we really need to leave Oz before we get a visa? Finally does anyone have an experience what we could expect after giving birth, in terms of leaving Oz to get a visa? Thank you in advance djpj:arghh:
