OK Folks. I know a lot of people can relate certain things about their lives in Australia that made them feel as if they had truly arrived in the country. And there may have been many sights that made you feel absolutely gob smacked, but what was the one sight that truly blew you away and for all intents and purposes made you realise that this was Australia, I'll start. It was the first time I went into the true outback, about 100 k's north from Sandfire Roadhouse, WA. It was very, very early morning. No one else about at all. I had been camping and woke up on my first morning to see a red desert in front of me, Wedge Tailed Eagles circling above and the sound of complete nothingness, absolutely nothing. Just me, the wildlife and the red desert. It truly took my breath away and I thought to myself, 'There is no where else on God's green earth that I would rather be'. And this is a feeling I still have to this day, no matter where I go, there will never be a place or time that means as much to me. I had previously lived in Perth, Cairns etc, but not until this day in question could I honestly say that I had arrived in Australia.
:biglaugh::biglaugh: Yup, just when things could not get any worse, just when I had been having a CT scan to try and find out what is wrong with my thumb (long story), we went to Stockland Mall to collect a prescription. And as we parked, smoke was billowing out of our trusty landy like I have never seen - I ran out thinking we were about to be engulfed in an inferno, Jason ran out and tried to open the bonnet - BIG MISTAKE........burnt half his hand....... We managed to find a towel, open the bonnet, and found the radiator had blown up and all the stuff in it has leaked all over the carpark. So cue the RACQ, a greasy tower truck, a trip to the radiator place, dump my beloved landy, a taxi to the airport, collect a hire car - then straight to the bottleshop for a stock up. But I did get my prescription - and we got all the scan costs back on Medibank (think they made a mistake but we are not telling them). It just gets better and better and better!!!! So long as I have a car to pick Sophie up I really don't give a flying s****e any more. :biglaugh::biglaugh:
