  1. Hi all, I've submitted my documents to TRA via an agent, and I'm expecting (hopefully) a positive outcome within the next few weeks. It dawned on me that although my birth certificate has a different name to everything else, I don't think this was ever done legally. I'm 37 years old now, I have only ever been known by my current name since starting school, I have never had to mention my brith name other than when I joined the army, and I simply then had to fill in a form to state what name I wished to be known by (perhaps this changed it legally?) My medical card, and school documents I may still have, national insurance card, HM Forces papers, driving license, passport etc all use my current name, only my birth certificate is different. Is this likely to cause an issue? Should I be looking to get this registered by DeedPoll now just in case, or would it be acceptable as is considering I've only ever used my current surname (first and middle names remain the same) Thanks
  2. I'm shortly to work in Aus on a 457 visa, taking/bringing my family with me. I was born in Sydney in the 70s, but left at just 6 months of age, and I'm now returning as a British national. Does being born in Australia, albeit many years ago, help me with securing permanent residency for my family and I, should we want to stay at the end of my work contract? Thanks very much - Steven.
  3. Hi everyone, i am looking for some help with my visa application. I have recently received a EOI and the next step is to start uploading my documents. I have most documents signed already by a justice of the peace since my skills assessment but what other docs need to get signed i.e. IELTS test results Background check I also don't have a birth certificate. Would it be bad if i didn't submit one? I have uploaded some documents that weren't signed by a justice of the peace. Is there anyway i can replace them with the correct ones
  4. I am new to forums so please be patient. My father is an Australian Native and has always resided in Oz. I'm British by birth and on my mother's side. I'm 27 and want to apply for Australian citizenship. It hasn't been straightforward because his name is not currently on my birth certificate but my mother is having my birth certificate re-certified with his name (his has signed a parentage declaration).. this application has just been made. (hoping it doesn't take long). I am traveling to Oz in a few weeks time. I want to then make my Citizenship application there (with new birth certificate) as I want to stay there. My concern is the timeline of the process. I have previously spent a year in Oz on a 1yr working visa. I want to work as soon as I legally can when I return next month but worried it will be ages before the ceremony. Can it be fast tracked? Can I get a work permit in the interim? Is it a bad idea to go there on a 3month holiday visa (I am law abiding and would not work until legally able) when it may take longer to get a ceremony date? Has anyone done it this way?? Any help please!

    DIAC - Evidence of Age

I have just filed my 176 visa, the following has been asked in the document checklist Now I do have a birth certificate but it is not in English and I would like to save on the cost of getting it translated. Can I provide the passport bio page and the secondary school certificate as an age evidence?
  6. Hi, I am tying to work out all the documents I might need to submit for visa application, I know we will need to submit birth certificates. I have full birth certificates with both parents names on for myself and our children, but for my husband who is the main visa applicant, we only have his unabridged birth certificate, does anyone know if this will be sufficient? I would hate to know how long it would take to apply for the full birth certificate from South Africa if we do need it :err:
