    VISA stamping in Bangladesh

Dear Mates, I am very happy to tell you that my 176 visa has been granted. It was a long journey. Some times I was vrey frustated. Now its time to celebrate.:jiggy: Now, for visa stamping info I have called DIAC office (in Australian embassy, Bangladesh). But it ends in a mail box. So I didn't get the info about visa stamping. [Like: should I arrange an appointment first ? What should I bring other than passport & grant letter] If any of you from Bangladesh can provide me the info it would be veru helpfull. My timeline: Applied: 29-06-2009 CO: 11-10-2010 VISA Grant: 20-05-2010
  5. Hi, I have been visiting the PomsInOz forum for a few days now and was impressed with how people were helping each other with advice and sharing of experiences. Though I am not from the UK, I was wondering if I can also benefit from some of you who are more knowledgeable than me about settling in Australia. I don't have a friend or relative living in Australia who I could rely on. I recently got my NSW state-sponsored PR visa approved and have about a year to validate. Ever since, so many questions are coming to my mind that I do not have answer for. Before diving into my issues, let me introduce myself. I am from Bangladesh, 39, and have always lived here. I have about 11 years of banking experience and a MBA qualification. My wife, 27, has a bachelor degree in pharmacy but has no work experience. Our son is 2 years and 9 months old. I am nearly fluent in English (got a IELTS score of 7.5) but my wife is yet to pick up well on the language. Our reasons for migrating to Australia include a better and safer upbringing for our son, higher quality of life in general and getting away from the inconveniences of living in a developing country. I might have bored you already with a lot of details but here are my questions or concerns now: 1. Jobs: I have been searching for banking jobs on seek.com.au and mycareer.com.au for quite sometime now. However, none of the jobs seem to be matching with my experience in Bangladesh. Perhaps the banking system is different in these two countries. Nonetheless, I did apply online for 30+ jobs but never got a reply. This is worrying me as much as the lack of a matching job with my background. What should I do? 2. Area to live: Sydney seems so huge and expensive! My web research shows that most Bangladeshis live in the western part of the city, especially in suburbs such as Lakemba, Bankstown, Campbelltown, Blacktown etc. Though these suburbs are relatively cheaper, some forum members here said they could potentially be unsafe as well. Our preference is to live in an area where we can interact more with local Australians and migrants from other countries such as the UK. This should help us integrate with the local culture faster. The question is.... will local Australians be willing to mingle with us at all? Will we be able to make friends with migrants from other countries? We consider ourselves to be open and friendly, but is it enough to overcome the cultural barriers? Will people be patient with my wife while she tries to improve upon her language skills? Where should be live? 3. Money matters: we have about $30k (Australian equivalent) in savings. Will this be enough to take the plunge? Or, should we wait for a year to save up a little more, perhaps to $40k? While we are quite excited about the possibility of beginning a new life in Australia, we are also equally worried about it going all wrong. My apologies for making it a bit too long. I do understand that my questions are somewhat broad and open-ended. However, any suggestion, feedback or criticism from you will be graciously accepted.
