  3. Hello or G'day every one. My names Callum, 21 and moving to Sydney at the end of June begining of July! (little intro) Ive been looking for a job in Sydney and just curious to how easy if at all it is to get something? I used to be an trainee Architectural Technician and as a result ended up as a qualified draftsman due to my AutoCAD qualification.. Anyways Ive been attacking Seek.com.au asif it was going out of fashion but no returning emails... I would like something before hand, however I have only 2 weeks and likely to risk it. Also with my working holiday visa, I can only stay in one area of work for 6months however.. Is it possible to go for 6months in say Architecture and if i shine, do companies offer potential sponsorship (i.e, full time job and position/ pay but no house car etc not that im fussed) after 6month ''trial''. I would love to work for a Yamaha bike store as a salesman or Honda bike store. Failing that start low and easy such as a starbucks.. Is it possible? Is work easy to find? After being made redundant twice in 2 years cannot remember how easy it once was to get a job.... All points, tips and views welcome!!
  4. Hi i've got a BB on Orange in the UK but know it will be rediculously expensive to use things like my Blackberry Messenger and to look at my Facebook & e-mails etc. Just wondering if theres a service provider that lets you use these facilities as a Pay As You Go service and who the best providers are? Any help would be appreciated!

  7. I have heard that fridges and washing machines cost a fortune in Auz we are moving to NSW around March as we are renting our house in UK and have to leave white goods would we be better off to buy a giant fridge and washing machine in the January sales and take to Auz in the container??? Any info would be grateful. Thanks Maria
  8. Hi Is there anyone outthere pls that can tell me what sort of salary you would need to earn in Auz to have the standard of life we have in the UK. My husband is waiting a job offer on a temporary residence visa with the view to getting permanent residency we have a little boy of 4 and baby girl of 4months. So far we have a very good standard of life in UK the reason we want to move to Auz is so my we can spend more time as a family and he does not have to work 7 days a week. We never want for anything so I am wondering what you would need to earn in Auz to have a good standard of life? Any info greatly appreciated? Many thanks
  9. We are looking to fly our daughter over from Dec 12th to 27th to visit (Melbourne) but the prices are pretty crazy right now - most are around the £1100 or £1200 mark. We found a couple of places advertising below £800 but they were 'ring up to book' and of course the prices did not exist when we called. Is this just because its over Christmas? Are prices likely to drop at all over the coming weeks/months? My daughter has offered to try standby - has anyone got any experience of this as an option?
  10. does anyone know if you can apply for a credit card in oz - i was under the impression that as you had no credit card you couldnt get one??? thanks:laugh:

bringing in a vehicle to Auz

Hiya all, probably asking a question thats been asked a thousand times before but i am thinking of bringing my motorcycle over with me or at least sending it. I ve read some stuff about the process but i wondered if anyone has done this and what it involved costs shipping etc. Pros and cons. I am coming over in April and i think motorcycles and cars seem a little but more pricey over in Auz (not sure if thats right). Many thanks for reading and any advice is welcome. ta Mike

  16. Pensions in Auz I am just after some general information, moving to Auz in Feb 2006, I am lead to believe that as I have contributed to the British State Pension for over 12 years, when I come to retirement age I will have to claim a small amount (yeah a very small amount from the British Government" when i reach retirement age. I am sure that I read somewhere that you have to be contributing to the equivalent to the State Pension in Auz for atleast 10 years before I would be able to qualify for any benefits at retirement age, don't worry once I get there both my partner and I will get a pension set up asap, as got some company scheme may wish to transfer. Can anyone advise. Bet
