    Nominated wrong occupation ASCO

Hi Everyone, I'm a recent grad , Completed studies in Bachelor of Software engineering.Currently working Melbourne as a software engineer. In Feb, I've applied for Onshore ,Subclass 485 and nominated my occupation as Computing Prof - Software Designer 2231-15, as that time i'm still waiting for my skill to be assessed by ACS, and finally 2 months later , i've received a possitive skill assessment, however it came back that I'm positive for Computing Prof - Recent ICT Grad 2231-15 . Apparently , Software Designer requires work experience!I was shattered because I'm aware that it is impossible to change nominated occupation after application has been made! Now i'm waiting for the decision for the visa and made a post lodgement inquiry(attached a formal letter in my application), requested to admend my occupation to the one assessed by ACS. I'm wondering how much chance i have here for them to consider changing my occupation to the correct one .. considering both occupation is in the same category ASCO 2231 ? :embarrassed: Hope to get some advice from some great people here Regards, Demoiree
  2. Hi all, I was assessed under the dreaded 2231-79 NEC code back in May 2010. I'm now looking to get an assessment I can use in a new visa application so I need an assessment under an ANZSCO code. Am I still able to get a re-assessment based on the docs I previously submitted, even though my original assessment has now expired? I've sent a revalidation app to the ACS but I think this is a mistake as it would have the old ASCO code. I've emailed the ACS for guidance and am waiting for a reply, but was wondering if anyone else found themselves in the same boat and had any advice? Cheers
  3. Hi there ! I have been given an ASCO Code of 2129-79 Computing Engineer by Engineers Australia - does this sound right if anyone has heard of what job I do ? Valid Asco for Vic smp

Hi I just need to ask anyone for some advice. I found this under the VIC Faqs I have an ASCO assessment, am I still eligible? If you have an ASCO assessment, you must have a correlating ANZCO occupation on the current Eligibility Lists. Refer to DIAC's website for the ASCO to ANZSCO correlations. The ASCO assessment will be accepted for sponsorship as long as it remains valid. My husband got his skills assessment in June as Systems Manager and so it is still valid. In the new ANZSCO list it is broken into 3 occupations of which 2 are in the VIC smp. My question: Can we apply using the Asco skills assesment without reapplying for a new skills assessment under the ANZSCO code (even though it is broken up into 3 correlating occupations?) Will VIC ask for a new assessment? And Has anybody already sent their applications with their original ASCO assessment and what has happened to it upto now? Thanks
  7. Hi ALL, Anxious to know if I can equate either of the ANZSCO codes 261111 ICT business analyst 261112 Systems analyst for ASCO 2231-79 IT Professional nec. Any help from experts in the forum will be of immense help to me Regards Mahesh

    nurse with Asco code

Hi wondering if anyone can shed some light on my situation. Im a nurse who when i applied for my ANMC skill assessment and state sponsorship my asco code was 2323-11 and that is the code i used when i applied for my visa back in July this year. Obviously the ANZCO codes have now come in to play so just wondering which code i will fall into. Im a district nurse so was assuming i would come under community health but how do you know which code you use and do i have to inform immigration . Confused.com !!:wacko: Thankyou in advance
  9. Dear all, after my somewhat inflamattory post was last closed, I decided to get on with life and have (hopefully) a valid question to ask everyone. at the start of the year (january 4th) all my hard work on applying to the ACS for an RPL (work in IT) paid off and I got a positive Assessment (as ASCO 2231-79 unix specialist) which was great as it was on the old CSL. Unfortunately my Emigration company didnt move fast enough and things started to change and chance was missed. Now that the new system is in place and the ANZSCO rules the nest (along with the SMP's slowly trickly out) I find myself with a Positive assessment that doesnt do me any great favours (as trying to go down the route of a 176 Family Sponsored Visa) and need my code to be on schedule 3. Do the ACS offer a service (baring in mind my assessment only has under 2 months to go before running out) where I can put in for re-assessment to move the ASCO code to a more beneficial ANZSCO code? (I have emailed ACS but I know their answers can be rather confusing most of the time and usually just pop in a few weblinks)? Any info greatly appreciated as if I can get my ACS stuff sorted then I dont have too many worries. Kind regards

    ASCO Code 2231-79

Hi My OH was assessed under ASCO code 2231-79(network security). We got the letter on JUly 1, 2010. Now that Victoria SMP is out, I have few questions: 1. Can we use the old code or do we need to re apply for the code. The old ASCO code maps to two of the ANZSCO code on vic smp. 2. How do we proceed now? Do we need to apply for Victoria state sponsorship now and then file the visa application. Thanks

    ACS Asco to Anzsco Translation

Hi, I need to convert my current asco code to anzsco Do I need to submit a new assessments or can I simply complete "Application for Review of PASA" form http://www.acs.org.au/assessment/docs/ApplicationforReviewofAssessment.doc and get a re-assessment Please advise as I need to get this sorted as soon as possible
  12. Hi everyone Sorry if this has been answered before but I cant find it anywhere. If I was granted ICT Project Manager state sponsorship with WA and applied for my visa last year, and then ICT Project Manager is on the new WA list...does that mean that they will automatically transfer my ASCO code to the new ANZCO code at DIAC and I will then become a priority 2? This is so confusing! Thank you
  13. Hi I'm new, I'm looking for some advice about ACS assessment. Me and my girlfriend want to go to Queensland but our agent tells me I'm 5 points short for the 175 visa so we can go to Victoria on a 176 visa. Looking at the skills assessment by the ACS I might be ok to try for a ASCO 2231-79 C# specialist (its on the MODL) which Queensland will take on a 176 but my agent isn't sure  what is required and thinks I should just try for different one which he knows we are OK for in Victoria. By the why I'm a project manager of C# software projects. Cheers
  14. Hi all, I received a successful skills assessment for ASCO code 2231-17 (Applications & Analyst Programmer). I applied for 2231-79 (Computing Professional Cobol) but was assessed as 2231-17. Western Australia Occupations in Demand List 'WAOIDL' only has 2231-79 and not 2231-17. Visa 176 requires state sponsorship from WA and I need a code on WAOIDL. Can anyone advise on best way to get my ASCO code changed from 2231-17 to 2231-79. Any help grateful Thanks Scott
  15. Hi all, This is my first post . I have applied for 2231-79(SAP) and its under process. Recently I wrote to them nominating ANZSCO code Developer Programmer 261312 for my application and I got the following mail as reply. The letter states that I can't provide more docs to support my case for ANZSCO code, I might not be eligible for the same with the docs provided and that I might have to pay for reassesing if opted. This is what is confusing me now 1. What if I don't proceed with nominating any ANZSCO code and let them to do the mapping for me. 2.With their mapped ANZSCO Code assesment letter, will I get a chance for free reassesing. 3.The Pros and Cons of proceding with nominating a ANZSCO code myself. Thanks for your time. Any Comments Welcome. Experts your opinion are highly regarded. Thanks in Advance:cool:. :daydreaming: Rpkbuviki Oz Day Dreamer
  16. Hello Everybody I had applied for assesment to ACS in Dec 2009, requested ASCO -2231-79(c/c++) but as a result of assesement(Feb 2010), they put me under 2231-15(Software designer) I had left hopes to be in priority processing list (CSL) , but when I came across New SOL (floated in June), I found that New SOL has 2231-15 (and 2231-79 removed) *Please let me know if this information is right???? Now, Are they going to declare new CSL list ? OR How is it going to process in future? My Question -> At this point, what should I do???, Are there any hopes to get my application (2231-15) through in priority processing ? I really need your expert advice...Please help -Thanks in advance Manasi
  17. After seeing NSW state list http://www.business.nsw.gov.au/migration/pdfdocuments/STNI_Criteria_STNI_Skilled.pdf Couple of things were puzzling in my mind, In the list under the ANZSCO code 261313 they have mentioned the specialization as Java. But according to the SOL schedule 4, previous ASCO code 2231-79 (Software Engineers with specializations such as Java, C#, C++ etc.) mapped with ANZSCO 261399 Also in above link, IELTS score mentioned as 7 and is it overall score or each component ? After seen this list, I was thinking probably they would have mistakenly mapped previous code 2231-79 (Software Engineers with specializations) into 261399. Based on this, I guess there will be a high chance that, if you have a successful assessment with 2231-79 (Java, C#, C++ etc.) and If you apply for a re-assessment you'll most likely get 261313. With ANZSCO code 261313 we can proceed with; GSM 175 with IELTS 7 (each component) ??? :goofy:

  19. Dear All, See the below statement under link: http://www.immi.gov.au/employers/anzsco/transitional-arrangements.htm Quote: Applications with a mix of ASCO and ANZSCO information To ensure that prospective visa applicants and employers who want to sponsor or nominate someone under the skilled visa program are not disadvantaged, legislation and policy guidelines have been developed to allow ASCO-based documents and information to be accepted after the introduction of ANZSCO in certain circumstances. Examples: A nomination or visa application lodged after 1 July 2010 will have an ANZSCO nominated occupation, but the applicant might submit an ASCO skills assessment they had previously obtained from an SAA, provided that the skills assessment is still valid. A visa applicant who lodged their application before 1 July 2010 with an ASCO nominated occupation, may need to submit an ANZSCO skills assessment if it is subsequently obtained after 1 July 2010. Unquote: So we , who's application already received by DIAC before 1 July 2010, don't need to resubmit ????????? -------------------------------------------------------------------- CAT-475, wait for SA SMP list

    ASCO to ANZSCO CODE

:cute:So Much good info on the PIO Tonight..... I still need to know one thing that i cant seem to find on the migration issues although big thanks to George Lombard and the other Oracles that help us all out... I took my vetassess on the old ASCO code for General Plumber, as all the visa routes are now shut till next week until SMPs etc are revealed.... I need to know when i apply for WA SS and then GSM 176 do i apply under the new ANZSCO Code or the old ASCO code.. As i have not submitted a thing yet as i am still awaiting my Vetassess Paperwork i understand that i will be applying under the NEW ANZSCO code.. Any Good confirmations would be greatly appreciated of this as i am sure that there are many good PIO members in the same becalmed boat as me that could do with a bit of clarification... Thanks everyone.... Nick the Plumber..:jimlad:
  21. I am looking for State Sponsorship from any region or state of Australia which can sponsor me. Asco code assingned in the my Positive Skill Assessment by ACS is 2231-11 for System Manager. I have researched alot to find the sponsoring state but all in vain. Just NSW is sponsoring this code but they demand 7 each in each module of Ielts. Kindly suggest me any alternative to solve this problem. Is there any other state which can sponsor me either for regional area or other. Moreover, Southe Australia is sposoring code 2231-79, I want to whether I am eligle for sposorship from South Austalia or not.
  22. Hi all! Just received an email from IEA advising that my qualification is recognised as a Software Engineer (ASCO 2129-79). Does anybody have an idea whether this ASCO code will be translated into ANZSCO 261313 Software Engineer via the "concordance" table yet published by DIAC? Any ideas would be highly appreciated, especially from our respected agents and Gill. :notworthy: Cheers, Alex

    ASCO to ANZSCO Code

The New Zealand migration system already uses the ANZSCO code in nominating a skilled occupation eversince. If DIAC will use the latest ANZSCO as a reference, the link below will guide us to determine the corresponding ANZSCO code of our nominated occupation which is still under the ASCO 1220.0 - ANZSCO - Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations, First Edition, Revision 1 The question is , since our occupation has now a different code do we need to undergo a re-assessment according to the new ANZSCO? ANZSCO has a broad range of occupation however DIAC only chose about 1/4 of it for the newlist of Skilled occupations. I just hope that the states would consider including all other occupations on their SMP. My nominated occupation is Life scientist with ASCO code of 2113-79 . However in ANSZCO code Life scientist is a unit group of occupation (2345 Life Scientist )which has several occupations under it 234511 Life Scientist (General) 234512 Anatomist or Physiologist 234513 Biochemist 234514 Biotechnologist 234515 Botanist 234516 Marine Biologist 234517 Microbiologist 234518 Zoologist 234599 Life Scientists nec I wonder how DIAC would handle the lodged assessment considering that occupation codes were changed also:nah: Just confused
  24. Can anyone help me on this one? I need to know the ASCO code for this course. Thanks a lot.
  25. Yesterday we were informed that we had passed the ACS skills assessment. However, I have been given a different ASCO code. My IT work experience is 2 years being a Technical Support Consultant and 7 years as a Software tester (Test Analyst). I have 2x industry standard test qualifications. Therefore, I thought that I would be assessed under ASCO 2231-79 ICT Professionals (nec) as Computing Tester is listed under that category. However the ACS letter states that I have been successful under ASCO 2231-19 (Systems Programmer). Under the PIM subsection for this category it states 'Writes, maintains and updates programs which control the overall functioning of computers'. My skills assessment shows nothing in relation to these skills. The project reports I did comprised of testbed configuration and testing techniques used during certain projects. Could it be a simple typo? I was wondering if anyone knew if this dubious ASCO code could adversely affect any visa (PR175), or future state sponsorship applications? I am happy to use it, it is just that my CV bears no relation to the code they have assessed me under. Any advice\information would be appreciated. Regards, Mark
