  1. Hi All, I'm new here.:wubclub: I just need some help regarding my ACS assessment. I have both bachelors and masters in IT and planing to get myself assessed as ICT Business Analyst - 261111. I have five years experience in Telco domain, but there's a bit of a problem with my designation, it goes as Product Development Executive but my day today job tasks involve the tasks as explained in both ABS and ACS sites. My queries; I can get a letter from my employer but my designation will be Product Development Executive will it be a problem for ACS? When I write this letter do I have to mention about the individual project I have carried out like most programmers and software engineers does? Problem is when it comes to programmers they can say that they used different technologies & programming languages for each and every project, but I don't really undrstand how to go to that minute level & is it really necessary for this BA ANZSCO? Highly appreciate your feedback & hoping this thread would be useful for future applicants going to take a similar route :wubclub:
  2. Hello, My boyfriend and I are looking into moving in the next few years, we are going over to visit first but need to decide where to look based on where we would like to live. I think the options seem to be Perth or Brisbane/Sunshine Coast - I was just wondering if anyone could advise which one would have better job prospects for both of our careers? My partner is a joiner, and I am a finance analyst (although I am not degree qualified)....so complete opposite work so we need a place that has opportunities for both! Any help would be great! Thanks
  3. Hi all, I intend to apply for ACS Skills Assessment under the ICT Business Analyst category. Following are my details: Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunications Masters in Telecommunications 4.5 years of genuine BA exp under the title Business Systems Analyst with a Telecom software vendor Questions: - I am not very sure if my education qualifies as ICT related. Where and how do i find this out? - I was told, for a non-ICT degree I would need 6 yrs of relevant exp before I apply for assessment. Is this true? Any suggestions would be great. In the mean I am trying to understand the info on the ACS website. Cheers
  4. Hi all, To cut a long story short, My wife and I are interested in a move to Perth, but I'm looking at other options in case WA decline my SS application. Is there much work for Business Analysts in Canberra? I notice the position is still open on the ACT SMP. Also, what kind of wages should I be looking at, and what would I need to support a family of 3 (my son is 3 years old) - we'd be renting, and needing at least one second hand car (assuming I can bike or get public transport to work. Finally, what's the turnaround time fro applying for SS and it being processed? Thanks for any help!
  5. What exactly should be suitable/relevant work experience to be assessed as Systems analyst? I have gone through the definition on the related websites and thought I qualify as Systems Analyst, but ACS suggested me that I am suitable to qualify as Systems Engineer (263111). I have 3+ yr experience as Global Support Analyst and Senior Systems analyst in different companies where I was invloved in designing, implementing and trouble-shooting of applications, servers etc and 1.5 yr experience as Network Engineer and hold a Bachelor degree on EEE(Electrical and Electronics Engineering). What I really wanted is to apply as a independent (175 PR visa). Is there any member who have positive assessment as a Systems analyst here in PIO? If so, could you please share your experience? I appreciate any comment/sharing experience as these questions are burning my head. Thank you in advance.
  6. Hi, We now have our 176 (PR) visa and I want to get an idea of the jobs market in Perth for Business Analysts. Does anyone have experience they could share in finding a job. It would be good to be able to have one set up for when we arrive. We need to arrive by Oct 2012 in order to validate the visa. Thanks
  7. Hi everyone, I'm looking into moving to Oz (Canberra) on a 176 ACT sponsored visa. I qualify for the GSM as a policy analyst / project manager. I've looked on line and the majority of posts require federal clearance that means citizenship. I understand that citizenship isn't required to work for the State and some consultancy companies. Is this correct? Is anyone else in / been in a similar situation and what have been their experiences in finding jobs? I hold DV clearance in the UK but unfortunetly it is none transferable. P.S. I am waiting to hear back from a potential employer about whether or not they can sponsor my visa. They are a small outfit and have said they will have to look into what will be required of them and the impact it will have on their resources. Grateful for any advice! Stuart

    Business analyst CV

Hi. If it is possible I ask you to send me example of Business analyst CV (not teampate). I'm moving to Sydney in Feb 2012 and now I plan to rewrite my CV and need help. Also I would be very appreciated if somebody can give me any information about this occupation and other usefull information. Is it very hard to find this position in first month after arrival? Visa type 175 received. Thanx in advanced.
  10. Hi, I am applying under the'Business Analyst' category. I have worked for 4 organizations in the past 10 years. I have reference letters from all of them. However, there are a couple of problems: (a) For 2 of the past employers the people who have signed the letter no longer work for that company. Should I approach the previous company once again and get a fresh letter from someone who is contactable over there? (b) For none of the companies, the contact email ID and phone number are not mentioned. Can I write this information on a separate covering letter? It would be so difficult to approach people who have signed on letters 7-8 years ago! © I have genuine experience letters clearly mentioning my role as a Business Analyst. However, they are not really very elaborate- just 4-5 liners explaining my BA role. Would that be enough. Would consultant services help me in this regard? Would be glad to receive a response. Thanks!

    ICT Business Analyst

I have just recently submitted a skills assessment to the ACS and thought while I wait, I'll start looking at the requirements to get State Sponsorship for a 176 (I do not have enough points for a 175). To my horror I have now discovered that the eligibility lists for NSW, Victoria and even SA have all been updated to exclude ICT Business Analyst! Queensland do still have it on their list but with specific criteria, which I do not meet. Looks like my Aussie dream has reached a premature end Does anyone have any advice or suggestions, please? Sorry to sound so desperate but I am.
  16. Hi There, I'm in the process of applying for ACS skills assessment, but, really confused about nominating my occupation as Analyst Programmer (261311) or Developer Programmer (261212). I've a IT degree with a lot of Software Engineering/Programming related subjects. Find below my duties/responsibilities: Understanding business/technical requirements Communicating with the client team to clarify and finalise ambiguous or incomplete business/technical requirements Developing applications as per the technical requirements specification Reviewing developed program code Developing of test scripts used in unit testing Documenting test results Fixing defects detected during the unit testing phase Ensuring high-quality throughout the process I'd be thankful if someone can help me with selecting an occupation. (I've observed that a lot of people opt for Developer Programmer and only a few for Analyst Programmer. Is this just me?) Thanks, armandra!

It would be greatly appreciated if some one help me to find out the best and suitable ACS code for me. Thanks in advance. Sanjana.
  19. Hi, I am a project manager/business analyst for a major UK bank and have been for the last 6 years. My family and I have just started the visa application process and hope to get a skilled independent regional visa if a sponsorship is not forthcoming. My project management experience lies within the retail sector and specifically cutting edge of major bank initiatives. If our visa application is successful we hope to to move to the Brisbane area. Has anyone else in a similar role been successful in securing sponsorship OR can you comment on job availabilty in this field? Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. Ben
  20. Hi there, First post on POI, so please be gentle! We are looking into moving to Adelaide on a 176 visa. I have uncles in Adelaide, any one of whom would be willing to sponsor us. I am 37 (wife is 38, 2 kids - 4 and 5) and a financial systems analyst, working predominantly with Oracle (over 4 years experience). I was initially looking at having my skills assessed as Business and Information Professionals (nec). However, after some thought and a suggestion from a migration agent, I am looking at the Organisation and Methods Analyst role, which after some reading up, seems to actually fit my current job description and role much better. I tend to work on projects from beginning to end, from initial consultations and business analysis to testing and training. My question is - has anybody got any experience or knowledge of this job category and the best wording for the employers reference? Looking at the info ABS website 1220.0 - Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO) Second Edition, 1997 it seems to fit my role, but could also be open to some interpretation. Also (I know there are lots of threads on agents), what are peoples views on agents and whether, given the fact that the role description is quite open, it's a good idea to use an agent for advise and checking all the relevant paperwork? And what are the range of fees people have experienced? Any help, for a hopeful family, would be grafefully appreciated! Thanks, Martin.
  21. Hi there fellow hopeful escapees I hope that someone can help us. I'm an ITU nurse and my husband is an IT analyst. Does anyone know how much experience ITU nurses are expected to have to get sponsorship for 457 Visa in either Queensland or NSW? Also, as anyone completed the 'Recognition of Prior Learning' skills assessment to get membership to the Australian Computer Society? And if you have how long does it take to come through, and do you have any tips for applying? Thank you, Heather and Dean xx :emoticon-signxmas:
