    Flying with Allergies

We are about to book our flights to Oz but, Our 3 year old son has some rather severe food allergies, namely nuts, sesame and dairy. Can anybody recommend a particular airline to fly with? Does anyone have any experience of flying with food allergies? the only flight we have been on was to europe and that was when he was a lot younger. We plan to take all his food but wondered which airlines are best at this sort of thing.
  3. Our toddler has multiple food allergies - nuts, dairy, sesame and kiwi. She had angioedema (lip swelling) with accidental exposure to nuts, and gets eczema with the dairy. Above all confirmed with skin prick tests and we carry epipens. The CO wants medicals for her ( 2 year old) and hubby. WIll that cause problems with the medical? Do I declare it - she is fine if we avoid her problem foods. If we declare it, should I included any letters from her doctors, to avoid any delays? I am worried the CO will ask for more information, and then there is another wait for the medical reports. Will the CO be compassionate if they do not get the med results in 4 weeks? Is it OK to let them know the process has started, but it is out of our hands. The earliest med appt we can get is 1-2 weeks, and the clinic says they need 12 days to process the medical before they can send it off! Might just get to CO in the nick of time Hubby will also need to get police clearance from Singapore and the UK - which will add to the delay. Please help! I've already been granted my visa, and need to go by Nov 08, or my medicals will expire. My employers have been waiting since Nov 2007, and I have a 3-month notice period in my job. All this is really doing my head in...I sometimes feel like just giving up!

    Food allergies

Hi My daugther is allergic to milk and we either give her milk free prescription formula or rice milk. Does anyone know if we can get these in Oz? Also I do not want to be in a rush to find it when we arrive, so am I going to be okay to take tins and tins of prescription formulae (white power!!) on the plane and ship some aswell? just concerned it may look a bit dodgy! She is also serverly allergic to eggs for which we carry adrenaline injections. I have contacted several travel agents and airlines and got a differing response from them all on what they can do to help us on our 24 hour journey. The airlines will only provide a Vegan meal, and I can not imagine that will be really suitable for a on year old or that they wont forget it on the day, so I have asked if i can take my own food. I have had varying responses from no to yes but you must taste it and I was wondering has anyone else done it? Also one travel agent said that we could not take the injections through security ourselves so we have to hand them in at check in and get them back on the plane. Please tell me this is not the case, surely they do not expect people to part with lifesaving emergency drugs at check-in nowadays?
