  1. We moved to Australia from the UK last December on a 457 visa with my husband as primary applicant. We had planned on applying for permanent residency after 2 years cos hubby has a permanent job contract here. Then after 4 months the immigration rules changed and it seems that on paper we are no longer eligible for PR due to my husbands age. Please tell us there is some kind of grandfathering or exemption rule for people in our situation?? We have started a petition to hopefully get our case looked at and I would be really really grateful if you could have a look at it and sign it if you can, also if you could forward it to family, friends, neighbours, anyone you can think of to sign too. 3. I have recently set up a business here in Oz but would like to get my father from the UK over here to help me with the business. He has contacted a agent who says he is to old? Is there a age restriction on the 457 visa?? I've looked and can not see one, he is 60 yrs old so a temporary visa would suit him until he retires then he would be able to apply for a aged parent visa. I really could do with him working for me as a Business manager as I require his experience and skills to expand the business and enable me to apply for some of the licences I require. I am happy for him to be a partner in the business or just employ him as a manager which ever route would be best. Can any one recommend a good agent who specializes in 457 visa as there is a few requirements I have to meet as I have only just set up the business ? [h=2][/h]

    Age related emigration

My partner, I and our 3 children (2 are his and 1 is mine) are considering moving to Australia. I don't think it's a simple case (if there is such a thing!), hence the request for advice. I would be 43 at the time of emigration from the UK, having a BSc in Audiology and 3 years of working in a job on the skills list. My partner will be 60, and has a BSc as a civil engineer, although hasn't worked in this profession for some time. He also had his own successful business, making bespoke kitchens, furniture and renovation of furniture, and can turn his hand to most carpentry and building work. He currently works in accounts for a company with an Australian branch. My partner and I don't currently live together, but will have been in a relationship for over 5 years at the time of the move. The children will be: 22 and will have just finished a BSc in animal studies, and may want to study a masters degree in Australia. 22 and will consider studying a degree in IT in Australia. He has cerebral palsy and has a wheelchair for long distances, but this has no affect on his academic attainment. 19 and will consider studying a degree in Australia. Any advice regarding my partner's position, due to age, and how the children's applications would work, i.e. do they apply as students, as individuals, or as part of the family? Many thanks

Have I left it too late?

What options do I have? At 53 years old what are my options for living and working in Aus? Background I spent 3 months seconded to Christmas Island last year on a 457 but the project ended and I came back to the UK. I'm a UK citizen and married. Although married, whilst in Aus I met a lady who and we began a relationship. I came back to the UK in September 2011 but returned to Aus in November 2011, on a 3 month visitors visa, to be with my new partner. I returned to the UK just before Christmas but then resigned from my job in the UK and returned to Aus late January 2012. Unfortunately homesickness crept in and I came back (again) to the UK late May 2012. I realise that this all seems very topsy turvy but I'd just like to know if there's any chance of me getting out to Aus permanently. Summary Aged 53 Have lived in Aus with my 'de facto' partner for 1 month in December 2011 and for 4 months (Jan to May 2012) All other times we have been in regular communication via phone and email. My 3 month visitor visa expires in November 2012. Any help regarding options/possibilities would be appreciated. Paul
