Hi, While my husband is a Pom we are already living in NZ where we are planning to move from to Melbourne mid 2013. He has been in media here for many years, and the last 2.5 he has spent working in marketing/sales (due to the small city we're living in). As sales isn't his passion he is thinking about retraining, possibly to work in IT (he used to be a buyer many years ago) or telecommunications. I guess I'm just feeling it out - does anyone know of any reputable training establishments? Or companies that will invest time/effort into someone that has the skills but not necessarily the qualifications? His other option is to do more marketing/media work, I think he may not be as keen on this as he doesn't want to be 'stuck' in a sales role where he would much rather be doing something creative. Your advice will be gladly received!

Hi there, this is my second post to the site, my partner and I have our hearts set on moving to Perth, I working as an Account Manager in an advertising agency, and my partner working in the asbestos industry as a Surveyor and Contracts Manager, we're both in our 30s. We have been looking into our options of how we get to Oz, and other than finding a company to sponsor us (we have been applying to lots of jobs on seek). We were wondering where we stood with getting a holiday visa and organising interviews/meetings for this time, and then potentially moving the visa if we find work, has anyone done this, or know anyone that has? Any advice will be hugely appreciated, we just can't wait to get out there! Thanks.

My partner works in asbestos removal and I am and account manager in an ad agency. Any advice anyone can give us would be hugely appreciated! Kate and Chaz x

Hi guys Back visiting the site after being on he brink of giving up when public relations officer was removed from the list. Have just seen that advertising and pr manager has been added on and wondered whether anyone knew if you still needed a degree to pass the skills test for this and whether this is likely to change next year with the points test review? I haven't got a degree :-( but have got 10 years experience in journalism and pr. Any advice would be much appreciated... I've got my fingers crossed it might be good news but aren't getting my hopes up given I'm sat in a wintery Warwickshire still dreaming about moving to oz 9 years after I started looking into it... Thanks Em x:mask

Hi there I'm due to be married in Japan with my Japanese fiancé. In order to do this, I need to advertise 'intention to marry' in a newspaper for 7 consecutive days - strange process, I know. Anyway, my problem is I can't find a paper that will do this for a reasonable price - it can be a local paper, or anything that is in print daily. I live in Sydney - does anyone have any recommendations? So far I've tried the SMH (just to get a baseline price for a national paper) and the Wentworth Courier. I'm trying to save every penny for my expensive Japanese wedding, so any help would be most appreciated! Thank you

Hi, Just wanted to let people know that a friend of mine got in trouble for advertising for British workers on his web site. There are really tough anti discrimination laws in Australia and unfortunately we are not allowed to advertise for a specific race of people. I know it sounds stupid but it is the law so if anyone is advertising in this way on their web site please please check the wording as it could end up legal.

Hi Everyone. We are thinking about making the big move to Oz within the next couple of years. But could really do with some advice about working in the ad/design industry. I am an Art Director/Designer with 20+ years experience. Having worked on a broad variety of clients. Have loads of experience and the usual software knowledge. What are the job options like? Are there many? Where would be the best location to try? And many more questions.....!!!!! I know we are talking about quite a time in the future when we make the move...if only we had a crystal ball........ but any advice about how things are and opportunities, would be much appreciated. Cheers. Tony.
