Construction Project Manager but significant work experince as Contracts Manager/Admin
Suffiane Haroun posted a topic in Visa Chat
Hi Everybody, I am intending to apply for visa 189 as Construction Project Manager but I am little concerned because I was not actually practicing construction in a strict sense since a while. So I am working as Contracts Manager (Admin) in construction projects since 10 years, however, I have a Civil Engineering degree and I had around +3 years experience at my early years as Construction engineer. I also have an LLM in Construction Law and Arbitration. So my questions are: - Given the above can I apply for a Construction Project Manager? - Is there a minimum activities of Construction Project Manager that need to be included in my Company letter of experience under the Contracts Manager? if so what would be the acceptable minimum match between both positions e.g. 60% or what? - What would be the main criteria of assessment that could make it or break it when it comes to a case like mine? Sorry for the elaboration and looking forward for your advice. Regards, SH -

Hi All, Just got word back from the ACS, they wont give me System Analyst, however they will give me Systems Administrator. Looking to apply for 175/176 visa. IELTS booked for Jan 21st, aiming to head off late 2012 / early 2013. From what I can see, no-one is offering State Sponsorship on this at the minute. My questions, if anyone can help.... 1. How often to the lists change and how likely is it to show up on any SS lists. (Or is it currently on a list I have missed..?) 2. Is it worth accepting the 262113, or is it worth another application to the ACS under a code that is on SS. Any feedback is very welcome, thanking ye all in advance, Kev

Quantity Surveying / Contract Administrator Jobs in OZ
Guest posted a topic in Careers and Vacancies
Hi, I'm aiming to emigrate to Oz this year with my family. But need to find sponsored employment as Contract Administrator as they are known in Oz (basically a Main Contracting Quantity Surveyor). I have 7 years experience but no BSc in Surveying, but do have a Geography Degree and Post Grad Diploma in Quantity Surveying accredited by th RICS, which is making a 175 Visa difficult to obtain. I'm trying to get some interviews lined up and head out there. But obviously got to get the interviews first. I dont suppose anyone could impart any advice from their experiences relative to my current situation? .- 14 replies

Hi Guys, Im back again and after careful consideration I think I will hold out until May when I have the 2 year work requirement for ACS (Australian Computer Society). I was going to go on a whv in March but I think if I got a proper visa I would have more of a chance geting a decent job. I am looking to apply under Network Administrator but I do not know if it will be in the high availability category that it is in now. Do SA release I.T occupation lists every year? Does anyone know does Network Administrator feature as a skill needed every year? Any info much appreciated. Thanks sooooo much.

Hi there We have just had approval from ACS. Next step SS. We have never been to SA. 1of the questions asks to please name organisations //companies that are relevant to your career . He's been looking on the job agency websites, but they do not list the companies names. So we are struggling to find names. If anyone could please give us ideas of IT companies in SA I would really appreciate it. Thank you,

Hi all You may remember I was on a bit back when I split from my ex and was worried about kicking them off my 572(student) visa. At that time my employer expressed a desire to sponsor me (856!), and we've left it until now to start applying (as my Dip IT finishes shortly). I have over 10years experience (at least 5 demonstrable) in Project/Program administration. My current role is Contracts and Account Administrator (but I also run the training program, and coordinate incentives programs). I dont know which i should apply for 511111 or 511112? Does it matter when its clear to see I broadly meet the criteria for both? My employer obviously has to nominate me too, so its important we select the right one - theyre submitting their application/nomination this week. Im probably being paranoid and i also have the luxury of already having a visa, but the difference in fees for me are phenomenal if I get PR. It's still my intention to complete my degree, and I have the support of my employer to do so, so even if I was turned down, I could appy with a degree in a year or so. Anyone else got stories to tell about 511111/511112, or can allay my fears/give me pointers to success?

Please send me a PM in the first instance detailing: broad skills and experience, type of visa (you have or intend to get), when you intend to arrive in Adelaide (if not already!). Hi All I'm new here. I would just like to ask regarding my situation. ACS already emailed me that my ANZSCO code is 262113 (System Administrator) though I applied for Systems Analyst. I would like to ask if I am right in SOL - Schedule 4 System Administrator is included and it is written: "This list applies to occupations in the State Migration Plans (StatSOL) with ANZSCO codes. This list applies to applicants for subclasses 176 (Skilled – Sponsored)" I check 176 Skilled Sponsored Visa it says: This visa requires you to be sponsored by an eligible relative living in Australia or nominated by a participating State or Territory government. My brother and sisters are already permanent resident of Australia and been living for more than 10 years. Does this mean I can apply for 176 Visa. Hope anyone can help.

Or is Visa 475 possible under SS? What timescales am I looking at? Where do I start? Please help. Thanks Thomasclan

Project Administrator- Working in Africa for Australian company...can they sponsor me
Guest posted a topic in Visa Chat
Hi All, Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on my situation. I am employed by an Australian company working in the mining industry in West Africa. I am contracted from Europe. I have not asked them about sponsorship, as I do not know my options, seeing as though I am contracted from Europe. Could they sponsor me even though I work in Africa? I work on a seven weeks on three weeks off roster. My options for applying for my own visa look slim as I do not have enough points regarding work experience, even though I have been in a project admin role now for the past couple of years.:arghh: Would anyone be able to help me with this? Many thanks everyone and good luck for the new year with everyone's applications!!- 1 reply

Hi all, We've been in Brisbane nearly a month now and i've started looking for work. Does anyone know of a job agent/agency or company who i might be able to contact to secure some IT Support (Systems Administrator / Desktop Support / 2nd, 3rd Line)? I've been looking at seek.com.au, careerone.com.au and indeed.com.au but although i've received a few calls, they've either been not what i do or i simply don't hear back. I'm happy with contract or permanent work at the moment. And we're enjoying Brisbane so far, wifey starts her new job at Greenslopes Hospital on Monday, Millwall have been promoted to the Championship, the sun is shining and we're soon going to Bunnings to buy a BBQ....so far (job aside) it's all good! Living in Camp Hill so if anyone is nearby, please do give us a shout and we'll have a beer. Thanks all, Stephen

IT Job for C/Linux developer and/or Linux Administrator
Guest posted a topic in Careers and Vacancies
Hi all, I have been going through following portals for a IT job search for a developers position (C/Linux/Unix) or an linux/unix adminstrators position. p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; } www.seek.com.au www.careerone.com.au www.mycareer.com.au The initial impression i get is quite demoralizing, as I could find only less than 5 jobs in SYD from the above portals, which disappeared less than 1 day time before I could apply. Also looking for linux administrator openings, but I could see around less than 50 jobs. This is out of 4k-5k job in IT in SYD. Are there any other portals / forums I am missing out ? I also heard that mostly the IT job market works on referrals. Is this true, if so how do I go about networking in a place where I am new to ? Can you suggest good consutants / HR recruiters whom I should apply with ? I am a little concerned now. Please provide your valuable suggestions and feebback. Greatly appriciate and help! Thanks in advance.-

Hi all, Should I consider myself to be a Building Associate or Program Administrator? What AQF Diploma would I need to get for Building Associate? I assist with the planning & maintenance of the NHS HQ. This involves co-ordinating works from an Admin point of view. Ensure planned & reactive maintenance is carried out in a timely manner? Any ideas? Mark

Hi all, We've finally decided to apply to move to Oz after some jittery moments over the last few months - do we don't we!? But I hear that things have got tougher still! We are not sure if I can get SS or get a Company to sponser me. I currently work for the NHS in Facilities Management & previously worked for Carillion Plc again in FM. Has anyone else gained a Visa with Facilities Management experience? I have been advised by Visa Go that DIAC or Vetassess may reject my application if I only now get my AQF Diploma in Business Administration with Orion, & NOT have it BEFORE relevant experience ? Do we get a Company to assist here? Can someone help me please. Is Employee Sponsorship the answer? Do I just search for Facilities Management Companies that are in Oz? I have Uncle who lives in Stratford NSW 2422 so 475 Visa could be the way? Please help! Thanks., Mark:wacko: Age 38

Hi Everyone, Have come across this website in the past few weeks and have been totally glued to the discussions and looking at how long other people's visa's are taking. It has been a breath of fresh air to actually see other peoples opinions and advice, as they are going through the same thing,,,stress!! Little about me, im 29, I have been in WA the past 2yrs and nearly 9 months. The last 9 months I was on a subclass 300 prospective marriage visa other 2 years a WHV,,, As you can guess I'm not going to get married, so have to leave the country at the end of the month and go back home to Ireland. I have just visited a migration agent that has suggested I go for a 176 WA state sponsored skilled visa as a project administrator. The agent is sending my quals off to Vetassess this week. If anyone else is starting out on this visa, or is in the process of doing it I would love to hear from you. Having gone through a prospective marriage visa application , im dreading the same feeling of bewilderment about this one! :goofy:

Senior Administrator / Office Manager Jobs in Melbourne
Guest posted a topic in Careers and Vacancies
My wife and I are arriving on the 25th October. I am transferring with my current employers on a 457 visa and start work one week later. However, my wife is giving up a good job as an office manager and will have to find a new position when we get there. There seems to be lots of good jobs available but I am wondering how the reality of the situation is for people seeking jobs in these kinds of roles as non nationals. My wife is Italian but she is fluent in english (writing, reading speaking and listening). She has about 7 years experience in administration roles. She has also completed several diplomas and certificates in admin, marketing and IT. She has gotten references from all her previousl employers, copies of her qualifications and prepared CVs in a resume style. Can anyone advise us on the situation, give advice on how to approach job hunting and/or highlight and pitfalls? Many thanks J-
