Hi, This is a bit long winded but I want to explain everything so nobody thinks I'm some pyscho vandal and hopefully I can get some clear advice! Just filling in our Police Check forms and I got to the question - Have you ever been arrested, dealt with by way of caution/warning/reprimand or been convicted of a criminal offence in England, Wales Northern Ireland or Scotland? My problem is this; in 2005 I was arrested for criminal damage to private property (scratching my ex-boyfriends parents car). I was asked to go down to the local police station, processed (finger prints, DNA and photo), interviewed and then bailed for 7 days pending further investigation. The outcome was that my ex-boyfriends father had actually got him to lie to the police, I had text messages and phonecalls on my mobile which showed that my ex was trying to get in touch with me whilst the police were actually taking his fathers statement and imediately after he had given his. Needless to say the officer that interviewed me was totally pieved off and despite telling my ex's father this he insisted on going ahead with charges. So it was sent to the CPS who in the words of the officer "wouldn't touch it with a barge pole" and actually my ex's father got a warning for wasting police time. Now I actually work with Severely Autistic and Disabled Children and over the last 11yrs have had multiple Enhanced CRB certificates. Never have I had to delcare this incident and its never come up on the search. I have noticed though on the actual forms you fill in it only asks if you have been convicted of a criminal offence or received a caution/warning/reprimand. It never actually asks have you been arrested. I rang our local police force but they said the Subject Access department are only open 9am-4pm Mon-Fri and I would need to speak to them and discuss it with them. I am now worried this is going to stop us as I know a friends brother once got a caution for cannibis whilst at school and they can't emmigrate to Canada as a result. So if anybosy has been in the same situation or knows about Police things I's really appreciate your help! Thanks for reading!!
We are looking at affordable people carrier hire from Brisbane airport for 5 1/2 weeks this summer but are having trouble as the only affordable options limit the area of use and we are hoping to travel as far as Port Douglas/Mossman and as far south as Byron Bay. There seems to be a 6 seater available which would be ideal and cheaper than a larger car. Would appreciate any advice.
Hi to you All !!! New member here!! I'm hoping that I can get some advice and help from you all out there....:skeptical: We are just about to start the process of applying to emigrate to OZ (hopefully Adleaide, fingers crossed xx) and money is tight. So, we are going to try and avoid using an agent. After reading some messages on the forum the cost of agencies was astounding (maybe me being naive, who knows). Anyway, as I said we would love to do it ourselves. My partner is a Management Accountant ( Degree and ACCA) and works for the coaling industry in Scotland. I work as a Medical Records Officer and we have a 4year old son, so our VISA would be based on my partner. Now here's the questions? Are we best to apply for skills test based on accounting exams before applying for VISA? Will there be problems with us not being married? Is there a definitvie cost for VISAS, MEDS or Police checks? Is there a certain path we should follow on the way through the application? I know that it looks like we have not done any checking but we have - loads!! - but we would rather have help from people who are in our position or have gone through and came out on the "Sunnyside of the Earth". Yes...we are probably mad but after finding out that renting our house in the Bonnieland costs a lot to set up etc having the added cost of an agency or or other costs that are avoidable, would be a BIG benefit. We would absolutely love to make the move but the costs are mounting up and we haven't even moved yet. :arghh: Also, if there are any other hopeful migrants out there living in Central Scotland drop us a line and maybe we could get together to help each other. HELP!!! Dawn xx
