Hoping someone is able to help me out and offer advice! Little bit of a different topic. So I've been over to Australia a couple of times and fell in love with it. And in typical British fashion, would love to up sticks and move there. I've got quite a lot of close family friends and school friends who live out there so luckily I wouldn't be completely alone over there. I'm currently studying a Masters in Professional Acting in London and for the last year, I have been contemplating moving after I have graduated. It's now or never right? But my main concern is my career choice. I'm well aware that the acting industry is tough and very competitive no matter where you are - however I was wondering if anybody on here knows a thing or two about the Acting Industry over in Australia - specifically Sydney, or even Melbourne? If so, I have a couple of questions. What is the industry like? Is it a good place to be for a career in Acting? How tough is getting an agent? And are the agencies good out there in terms of getting you auditions? Do you get many opportunities in terms of Film & TV? Is it possible to get representation if only on a Working Holiday Visa? Do they offer opportunities to audition for US TV shows & Films? Any advice would be amazing!! Would massively appreciate it as it is hard to find advice on this through google. Thank you, Zoe
Hi everyone I've been scanning this forum for a while now, to see if anyone else is going through the same as my husband and I. We're going through a terrible turmoil about wanting to go back to Australia and wondering if this is something that we genuinely want to do, or if we are suffering from Ping-Pong itis!! When you're trying to make such huge decisions, doubt is an inevitable part of the process. We're not sure if we'd really be happier back there, or if we're just experiencing some re-bound feelings which will pass in time, and it's just something we have to go through before we settle again. We were in Oz for five years and it was quite a tough experience for us. We moved around a few states trying to settle. The main problem was that we struggled to find a place which would accommodate both of our careers. During the five years, only one of us was ever in work, we never managed to both be working at the same time. In January 2010 we came to N. Ireland, rather than return to England. We were only here 12 days when I was diagnosed with Cancer. I'm ok now, and everyone keeps telling us to 'get on with our lives' but we feel so differently about everything now and we're so confused about where we want to continue our lives. There were plenty of things we disliked about Australia, but also things we liked. We also feel that we have not returned to the same Uk which we left in 2004. Sorry this post is so long, but I felt some background was neccessary if anyone was wanting to understand our situation and offer any advice. Thanks Carrie :0)
Australian Federal Government gets tough on foreign ownership rules | News.com.au People here in Aus will be very pleased to see that they are doing this. My friends and I could never understand why they made it easier for foreigners to buy here in the first place. I have been told by two completely unrelated friends in the last week that every auction they have been to lately has been swamped with foreign ic2 buyers. Both my friends children are trying to buy.

In the next few months I will be moving to Melbourne and was wondering if anybody out there knew how best to work to acting industry in Oz, contacts, advice etc. I have tried to do as much research as possible but it would be great to hear from someone who knew from personal experience ir simply thorugh knowkedge of the performing arts. Thank you so much.
