  1. Hi All, I know that this matter has been discussed several times in so many different threads, but I really need to get to the bottom of it as my situation is slightly different than others. Here is my story: I applied for my PR in August 2009 with WA state sponsorship. At the time I was a student and was really willing to move anywhere in Australia, that’s why I applied for WA Sponsorship. I'm saying this, because I don’t want you guys to start judging me and saying that you are a bad person cause you got the limited number of sponsorship and did not move there and you are violating your visa conditions etc.... As I stated above at the time I applied for state sponsorship, my situation was really different than what it is right now. After I lodged my application I started doing my masters and I finished it in December 2011. After that I started hunting for jobs and fortunately I got a really good job in the state I am in now (VIC) with a good salary. I was not really thinking about my PR application until I got CO in March 2012. Co started asking for different documents which I supplied and I did not hear from Him until last March (2013). Suddenly I got an email from him stating your Application has been approved. Happy days, I got my PR after more than 3.5 years. Now I need to move to WA. What should I do? I know that I will be eligible for citizenship in less than 6 months because I have been in Australia from 2007. I started looking for jobs in WA and even asked my employer to relocate me there. But the response was that they do not need my role in that office. I did not even get 1 email back from the 20 to 30 jobs that I applied for in WA. I really cannot just quit my job that I love and is paying my life expenses and go somewhere that I'm pretty sure I cannot find any job and will end up doing casual jobs. The reason I'm saying that is, even my occupation is not listed in WA SMP anymore. I contacted Citizenship department and they checked my visa entitlement and said that I will be eligible next year. No question asked about my 2 years commitment to WA. I even contacted WA migration and explained my situation, their response was basically a pre-made template outlining my commitment to WA government. Here is the question: What will really happen? Has anyone seen anything like my situation before? Do you know anyone that applied for citizenship without completing the 2 years commitment? Please share your opinions here and help me decide what the best course of action here is? Thanking you all in advance...

  4. Hi I applied for my PR on 14 Sep 2009 ( Subclass 886) under State sponsorship Western Australia as a hairdresser, DIAC has not yet allocate a case officer for me and there is no progress on my case. I'm so confused , i don't know what category I'm in and how long will it take for my case to be processed. Is there anyone with the same situation ? can anyone tell what i can do regarding this issue ? I'm really sick of waiting , sometimes i think with myself, i forget about the PR and Australia and get back to my home country. Regards

  6. Hi, In January 2010 we applied for a 485 Graduate Visa after completing 2 years study as a Commercial Cook, when I called Immigration to check something, they advised I was able to apply for GSM as had completed the TRA + had all the docs ready to go. Therefore on 7 feb 2010, we applied for GSM 886 Sponsor, I know that we are in for a wait + this wait is unlimited ( I/We can only pray that our visa's are not canecelled as there was a threat of it happening! ) Anyway, I receieved an email today stating we had been assigned a case officer for the 485. I was somewhat confused as thought the 886 superseeded the 485 visa, they were requesting extra docs, such as new medical/AFP as obviusly they had expired since we ap;plied over 12 months ago. We are on a bridging visa now, I asked what the benefit was to still applying for the 485, or should we infact just void this one + wait for the 886. She said that we could do that + stay on a bridging visa but we cant leave the country - unless we apply for bridging visa B ( I did this last year for a trip back to the UK for a family emergency ) My question is, are there any other reasons we would benefit by going onto this 485 Visa, as far as I can see its just more expense for the medicals/AFP when we will prob have to do this again in however long its going to take for us to be looked at for the PR visa. I really hope this makes sense - so long winded! I just do not want to jeopardise the Perm visa in anyway + need to know that if we cancelt eh 485 we are not making a problem for ourselves somehow! Any advice is very very much appreciated. Regards Gemma

  9. Hi all, I completed a Bach. of Engineering (Electrical) on 7 Dec '10 and qualified by Engineers Australia (skill assessment agent) as Electronics Engineer (included in SOL). My visa expired on 15 Mar. '11 and I applied for Subclass 485 (TR) on 12 March '11. Then applied for Subclass 886 (PR) with assistance of my relative in Sydney on 13 June '11. Does anyone know which one will process quicker information given by immi is pretty confusing to me... In fact, I'm a little bit doubtful too as to whether I am eligible for 886 since it is said that it is for people who graduated in the past six months; while I also see somewhere that says people who held a student visa in the past six month may be eligible too... Anyways, it would be sweet if any of you who have a similar case to me could give me some idea  Thank you very much in advance!!!:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy: Schwarz

    Applicants of 886 and 885

Hello! I just registered into this forum out of frustration as most of the people here do. its been great reading the forums.anyways my husband and i applied through a lawyer for 885 and 886 and he's a business anaylyst and his name is on the smp too. We lodged our PR application on 20th of june 2009 and since then theres nothing. What im upset is that if DRC was making applicants get there PR so fast how come my lawyer did not do it for us!? now i guess we cant do drc anymore. we have applied for 2 subclasses and 886 being the main front application. i was wondering if its better that we apply as 885 in the front? or it doesnt matter now? is 886 better or 885? i dont know how it works because we'v applied for both. help!! and can we /or should we change our lawyer?
  12. Today I have completed my Bachelor Degree (Accounting) from Sydney University. But my visa is going to be expire on 22nd March. I am planning to apply for 886 Family sponsored visa and As only 4 weeks left to expire my visa, one of the agent told me I wouldn't be able to apply for 886 because of short time rather I need to extend my studnet visa again. Do you think same??? I reallyyyyyy don'ttttt want to extend my student visa againnn... I haven't got my certificate yet so couldn't apply to CA for skill assessment. I will go for fast track skill assessment, whenever that will arrive. another question....as I will apply through my maternal uncle's sponsorship, can you please give me some idea how can I prove the relationship? What document's I should bring from him? Refresing page every 5 minutes to check the answer. Please asnwer. Thanks
  13. Hi There, I have got a critical question!!! My nominated occupation is in Schedule 2 and Schedule 4 but not in SA State Sponsored Migration List (SSML). Recently, I have applied for SA State sponsorship. (onshore as an off-list nominee) Do you guys have any idea if my sponsorship get approved from SA; which priority shall I get? Dependant's IELTS on 886

Hi All, Just need your insight regarding hubby's IELTS. I'm the main applicant. His expired in July 2010 with individual scores of 6.5. We've been here for two years now. Shall he re-sit his IELTS provided he's done it already and he's been working here for two years? Thanks
  15. Hello again, I am applying for the State sponsored residence visa- 886. Mu nominated occupation is on the eligibility list... Life Scientist but my experience is in Food technology and Quality assurance (food industry) that is more close to 'Chemist',which is also on the list... To get my degree assessed again is going to take ages... I am afraid I might be too late to apply for sponsorship. Therefore want to know if its ok to apply for sponsorship as is... As my degree is the same... Or is there any way to convince Vetassess to assess my degree only which is quicker... ?? Help!!! Thanks, Chaitali
  16. Hi guys, I've lodged my 885 online in Sep 10 and now I'm planning to do 886 (to take advantage of the State Sponsorship) Is it possible to lodge 886 online? Or it has to be done in papers? Cheers
  17. We applied family sponsored visa subclass 886 about a year ago, sponsored by my brother who has been living and working for the last four years here in Melbourne Our visa has not been granted yet, no case officer so far. My brother is thinking of going to Indonesia as he has a very good job offer over there, and the job offer is not from an Australian company. Does anybody know if his decision to leave Australia will have an effect on our pending application........or does he need to stay until our visa is granted....??????? Thanks
  18. The recently opened Victoria Skilled Sponsored Application does not have Code 176..only 886 and 487 are listed as : Skilled - Sponsored (886) visa Skilled - Regional Sponsored (487) visa Does anyone know if we can select the Skilled - Sponsored (886) Visa even though we are offshore or should we wait till 176 appears ? I lodged my application today using Skilled Sponsored (886) and I hope I have not made a mistake I will regret.
  19. Gday! I am new to this website, and to this community, but I always find help here by looking in threads and conversations. I hope someone can help me in my dilemma. I am applying for Onshore skilled sponsored residence visa (886) via online. I almost have all the requirements I need. My question is, I am married, and I have my wife and son back in my country. Unfortunately, I cannot include them as secondary applicant since they are not here in Australia. Now what my problem is if I apply for DRC, do I need to have their medical results ready? For what I understand in the immigration website suggests not to attend a health examination before you lodge your visa application unless the information about your visa specifically asks you to do so. But how can I get a medical booking in my country when there is no request from immigration yet? How will the panel of doctors be able to forward the results when there is no reference number given yet? Now, I want to know, if I can apply for DRC even if without the health requirements from my dependants? I hope someone can help me. Thank you.
  20. I lodged subclass 886 (family sponsor) last February 2009 . My degree is Graphic Design. At that time I lodge my application I was under - the SOL in existence prior to 1 July 2010 in ANZSCO code (schedule 2) – applies to GSM applicants who are eligible for transitional arrangements and who lodge their application before 1 January 2013. based from: Skilled Occupation Lists (Formerly Known as Form 1121i) However, I just don't get it, from the current priority processing list, which group I falls under? Is it group 3 or 4 ? Has anyone has similiar situation? I have searched in this forum but seems like I m still not clear yet. Thanks in advance
  21. Had anybody got a 886 visa after dec 2008 nominating occupation cook or hairdresser?
  22. :confused:Hi guys, For those who still remember I had problems with my 885 visa as I did not meet the 120 points due to lack of work experience ( I am a registered nurse but had claimed work experience for having worked as an enrolled nurse) and my case was at the MRT. I was invited to a hearing and was given two options, 1. to apply for 886 family sponsored or 2. rewrite IELTS to acquire at least 7 in each component so as to get the 25 points. Having considered my options I thought the IELTS might be a bit tricky for me to get 7's so have decided to go for the 886 family sponsored. I have lodged my sponsor's documents today 4/5/10 with DIAC as directed by MRT and they have asked me to notify them when I lodge the sponsorship documents and when the sponsorship is approved. My Question is how long does it take for the sponsorship to be approved given my case is still with the MRT? Am wondering whether the English would have been a better option time wise? Thanks guys any ideas and help will be appreciated
  23. Ok, first the background, I am here on a 457 and am looking for the quickest way to obtain PR for my family. I currently looking for some specific advice on whether my wife would qualify for 886 sponsorship as we feel it may be a possibility with her current employer. My wife is a teacher who has been employed full time here since February at a private school. Her prior teaching experience is comprised of 1 year full time work followed by a break of 9 months maternity leave returning for 3 days per week for 18 months after which she left to become a private A-level tutor for 10 hours per week for the 2 years immediately prior to coming to Australia. She will need 3 years experience to qualify for sponsorship and we are assuming that part time work contributes to the 'full time' work experience in a pro rata sense - please correct me if i am wrong! We have also assumed that the private tutoring would be difficult to 'document' given the number of students and general lack of employment documentation relating to it, so we cannot count this. My first question (and i'm sorry if it seems dumb, it feels dumb but i need to ask it anyway as employment law is sometimes a bit crackers): Does the period of maternity leave still count as continuous employment and therefore as 'experience'? My second question is how can we make it easy on her employer to act as sponsor. If for example, we employ agents for our/my wife's side of the application, would it be practical/permissible to engage the agents to process the employers side of the nomination also? Many thanks for any advice.

  25. Hi everybody, Glad to join this forum where I found there are a lot of people who are sharing their problems and got supported by others. I am a 36 yr male with a degree on management at my native country and planning to make a shift to oz with this plan: 1. Going to get a student visa for at least 4 years since I am going to Canterburry Business College in Sydney; initially, I plan to take Certificate IV in IT (Programming) for 49 weeks then to be continued with Diploma of IT (Software Development) for another 49 weeks; so altogether would be 98 weeks. And at the same time I would try to look a job in IT related fields so I can accumulate 1 year working experience requirement. 2. After that I will take the Bachelor of Information Technology (BITC) at USQ since the CBC has an articulation to the USQ where it would accept successful students who have completed the Diploma of IT qualification into USQ's Bachelor Program; I would get 12 courses exempted, so it would take only about another 1.5 years to get this BITC. 3. 1st Q: After I finish the 2nd leg of my study in IT Dipl, would it be possible for me to be assesed by ACS for ICT Business Analyst (SOL)? If YES, then by the end of my 2nd leg study I would like to apply for Onshore skilled sponsored (subclass 886) where my mom and step dad would sponsor us (me and my wife). 4. And in case if my student visa got expired, would it be me and my wife get granted a bridging visa A? While I am waiting for the confirmation of my substantive 886 visa. 5. I heard that OSHC would cover maternity too, is there any limitation on this? Any feed back on this are most welcome. Thx,
