    Kroombit Tops National Park Queensland

This is one National Park you must put on your to do list. Kroombit parks is known for its natural beauty but more importantly as the final resting place for “Beautiful Betsy” a B24 Bomber and her 8 crew members which departed Darwin on the 26th February 1945. The wreckage of "Beautiful Betsy" was not discovered until 49 years later on 2 August 1994, when park ranger, Mark Roe, was checking a controlled burn. I would like to say that I am astonished on how intact everything still is, there are pieces of the aircraft including the radios and engines all over which could have easily been looted. The drive in to the park isn’t easy and I wouldn’t recommend it in a 2 wheel drive. When you look at the map it looks like Biloela is the easiest entrance but it wasn’t so we ended up driving to Calliope and then down the Development Road which is an unsealed Road and suitable for 2wheel drive vehicles if there hasn’t been any flooding. If there as been rain forget it as there are numerous river crossings. We had the park to ourselves nearly with the exception of two other vehicles one who we passed exiting the park and the other as we were heading home. This park will take you a minimum of 5/6 hours to get around so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time. The Development Road in - Suitable for 2 wheel drives in the dry season. 4WD Driving Trips

Hi, Moved to Canberra just over a year ago. We invested in a semi-capable 4X4 vehicle and have since met like minded locals who have taken us on excellent adventures around the local bush land, including the top of Mnt Coree. We've since spent a bit of money on getting the car a bit more capable and we plan to do more of the same. We tend to do this in small convoys, and enjoy a relaxing day out... the family really enjoy it, we get to see remote bushland, rivers and creeks all worth a visit. So if anyone else is interested or enjoys something similar and want to tag along or are already doing this and want to share experiences, let's chat.

    4wd Dummie Guide

Ok I'm a woman but is there a dummies guide to driving a 4wd. I have no idea what I'm doing, I nipped out today and couldn't even get up a hill which was only about 10% gradient I kept pushing all the buttons and nothing happened it kept stalling, yet my ordinary car got up there in wet season, I had lights flashing at me everywhere. Anyway I pressed and pulled a few more knobs and it finally got up.

    4WD in the UK

Hi guys Just wondered if anybody has an answer to this question? My husband is a nutter for 4WDs and is hoping to get one in the UK (not straight away - he is not allowed one until he has a well paying job lol). Anyway, what I wanted to find out was does anyone know what decent 4WDs there are to buy second hand apart from Landrovers? Also, are there plentiful 4WD tracks or are they few and far between? I am asking this question for him - trust me, I can do without a 4WD Thanks
  6. our trip through OZ is taking us to Perth in February and because we are going to see other countries aswell, we're selling our mobile home. It's a 1996 Toyota bushcamper in very good health. Had it maintained every 8000 k's and it hasn't let us down once! Things like tires, batteries, exhaust, fluids, bed and lots more are all new (from 2010 to 2011) and the motor is running fine. Has all the camping equippment an adventurous camper can dream about and is ready to go straight on the road again. Loads more information is under INFOS ZUM TROOPY - bushcampers Jimdo-Page! , we only have to translate site into English first (bought it with the vehicle). But you can already have a look at the pics to be reassured:-) price: Au$ 14.900
  7. Want to make new friends:jiggy:, go camping in the Bush...... in some remote areas in WA in safe way. We are needing a few more people (couples or singles) who have a sense of adventure, to come and help out on this year’s Australasian Safari as Officials. You will joining a group of over 50 Officials, nearly a 100 competitors and around 200 service crew, who enjoy nothing better than driving around little old WA..... doing an International event for a week. The term “Official” is used for a variety of roles, whether it be the starters, the road closures, the people who help out at the refuel, and list goes on. You aren’t expected to do all of this for nothing......... you get the “uniform”, a holiday experience, oh yes, and a fuel allowance.
