Possible move to Mackay or Townsville

Hi all, I am hoping to move back to Australia later this year with my husband and two children (aged 12). I was hoping there might be someone on here who is nursing in either Mackay or Townsville. I interviewed with Queensland health a few weeks back. Interview went well and I was asked to submit areas of interest along with my paperwork. All paperwork is now in and I have put down Mackay or Townsville as my top choices. My specialty area is emergency nursing. I lived in Mackay a few years ago and would love to move back there. I have some really good friends in the are and my husband would likely be able to find work in the area also. Would love to hear from any nurses working in these areas to get a feel of what the work is like compared to the Irish healthcare system.
  2. I applied for a 482 4 year visa in late February through a migration agent with a view to moving and starting my job in late April. My visa still hasn't arrived and I'm wondering if anyone else has also experienced delay in receiving this visa? And if so, how long they were waiting. The DHA website timelines say 75% of applications are dealt with within 3 months and I am told by the migration agent that they can't provide any estimate beyond the processing times on the DHA website. My employer needed to apply to be a sponsor which may have delayed things but this was approved in April. The only person I know who has also applied for this visa is a doctor and, while they applied after me, their visa has been granted. I'm basically looking for some reassurance from others who have recently applied for this visa that it will arrive soon as I'm in limbo at the moment.
  3. Any advice or help is welcomed please! My partner was offered a job in Australia with a Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) visa. We weren't sure if I could go on his visa so I applied for a Working Holiday visa (subclass 417). Since I applied for this, my partner's job advised us I could be placed on his 482 visa, so we added me on via the de-facto relationship pathway. This visa is longer term and has no working restrictions. I didn't realise I had to cancel my application for the 417 visa, and our 482 visa came through. 2 weeks later my 417 visa came through. I have just found out that this means my 482 visa (which was a lot more expensive and has less working restrictions/last's longer) was automatically cancelled. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is there anything I can do to be able to get my 482 visa back? Thank you in advance!
  4. Hi, Im currently on 482 short term visa and am in the process of transferring to a new employer. Just wondering if anyone has any recent experience with this? I’ve been waiting over a month for the transfer to be approved. What’s processing times have people been experiencing? Thans
  5. Hi, I have been working in an aged care in Sydney for past 1 year and my visa is about to expire in Feb. Currently i am actively looking for a sponsorship on the basis of either certificate 3 in individual support or in accounting, as i have done masters in professional accounting (advanced) from Sydney. My educational and work experience (overseas) mostly is in accounts and finance. Can anyone please help me in getting sponsorship or visa extension. I cannot go back to studies as i do not have enough funds but with sponsorship i can work and pay my dues and bills. Thanks
  6. I graduated from a 3 year Bachelor's degree (NOT honours) from a reputed Australian University. My question is, if I work 2 whole years on a temporary 485 visa, will all two years of work experience be considered if/when my employer applies for a TSS 482 visa making me eligible for the visa or will my initial 2 years of experience be deducted making me ineligible for the 482 visa.
  7. Hi all, I hoping that someone can help me answer the following question that we have been researching and asking. I have been fortunate enough to get a job in Brisbane, 482 visa submitted on Friday and am pencilling in a April 29th start date. The question that we have been asking is regarding health insurance that is part of the conditions of the visa. From my reading, the UK has a reciprocal healthcare agreement with Oz, thus having adequate cover for visa purposes. This has been confirmed with the solicitors who are handling our application. However, would this reciprocal cover be to UK NHS standards? From my reading it is for “emergency” cover only i.e. for the odd broken arm. The second part of the question relates to pregnancy, my wife and I would ideally like to have another before it is too late. Thus, this would be the perfect time to have an addition to the family whilst my wife was out of work/before getting to heavily into a new job. However, on looking at the private insurances provided, there is a 12 month waiting period before they will cover any pre/post antenatal health care. As such, plans have been put on hold/changed (as I will be 40/1 on the arrival – that’s late enough for me) but I was wondering if this care would be covered under the reciprocal agreement. My wife has been asking about and we have been getting contradicting answers. Any wisdom here would be most welcome. Les
