    491/489 Job Prospects

Hi folks, I’m looking to relocate to NSW on a 491 visa. I was wondering if anyone has any experience finding jobs on a 489/491 regional skilled provisional visa? I ask because I currently hold a 476 Recognised Graduate visa valid for 18 months, but employers don’t want to know because it’s temporary. I’m worried that, since the 491 is technically ‘temporary’ (5 years and there is a clear and defined pathway to PR) I’ll be wasting $4k for the same results! For a bit of background, I’m a recent chemical engineering grad working in refining in the UK but hoping to move over to Aus and get into the water treatment business. I’ve been trying for 3 months now to get something on my 476 visa but it’s not looking likely! Does anyone have any experience that they can share? All the best, Kai

    Graduate 476 visa

Hey, Am i eligible for Skilled Graduate 476 Visa. I did Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from India. After that i did Masters in Engineering Management from Uk.
  4. For the Skilled—Recognised Graduate visa (subclass 476) does Software Engineering count as a form of engineering? I graduated from an accepted institution but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on whether Software Engineering counts or not - just wondering if anyone's had any experience of applying on these grounds. Attempts to contact the ASPC are underway, I'm just hoping for a slightly quicker answer as I won't be eligible for too much longer... Any help appreciated - thanks
  5. Hi, I'm a recent graduate and I'm thinking of applying for the Skilled Recognised Graduate 476 visa, for which I am eligible, to go to Sydney. Until October, I will be working as an engineering contractor in London in a worldwide recognised software company. That being said, I have not been able to save up too much money (I just graduated last year). My question is: how probable do you guys think it is to get offered a position in the IT industry before moving over, given the fact that no sponsorship would be required? Is it impossible or just a bit harder? Will being a recent graduate work against me? I've started saving as much money as possible, but I don't think I could survive more than 2 or 3 months in Sydney without working. Thanks!
  6. Hi all, I would like to make an application for a 476 recognised graduate visa. But there are some points that I would like to ask you before I submit my application, if you have some free time for me and if you can answer them you make me really happy: 1-)In online applications should I scan my original documents and submit? Or should I submit the certified versions of them? Because my all documents are all in English and I am in Spain it can be a pain to find a place who can certify them( 2) I stayed in UK for 8 months and USA less than 3 months I dont need to submit police clearance right? Do you know the validity of the police documents? 3)What is the expiry date of the health check? I have one done on 04.07.2011 is it okay do you think? 4)Should I certify IELTS results and my diploma as well do you think? Thank you very much for your valuable time
  7. Hi, My spouse and I are holders of a Skilled Recognized Graduate visa (Subclass 476). I was a primary applicant and my spouse is included in this visa as secondary applicant. My spouse satisfies all criteria for applying for a Skilled Permanent Residence Visa (Subclass 885) as a primary applicant and has all supporting documents for that. We plan to apply for this visa immediately upon arrival to Australia but I am not sure whether she is eligible or not to apply as a primary applicant onshore. In this respect I kindly request you to advise whether a secondary holder of Subclass 476 Visa is eligible to apply as primary applicant for Permanent Residency onshore as a primary applicant. Thanks

    Skilled Recognised Subclass 476??

Hi Everyone, Does anyone know any more information regarding this visa please. Wanting to rule 'in' or 'out' as an option. I have an BA (Hons) from the uk (think this qualifies?) I have a husband and two children can they go on it? and can hubby work once in oz? Also whats the processing time like? I have read some information and it seems quite straight forward...........im guessing theres more too it though???? Many thanks Claire
  9. The Department has released details of two minor changes: a) the implementation of NSW participation in the ENS health waiver scheme; b) the inclusion of four further universities whose engineering graduates may qualify for a subclass 476 visa: Ecole de Technologie Superieure (Canada); Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (Chile); University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (Malaysia) University of Liverpool (UK). The real significance of this news is that the Department is functioning and the Minister is making routine approvals. Some previous Ministers were glacial in coming to terms with their new responsibilities. Might be a good omen for the SMPs. Cheers, George Lombard

    Need help on 476 visa

Hi all. I would like to apply for subclass 476 visa from offshore (overseas). I am recently graduated and got a recognised degree in engineering and would be taking IELTS soon. I have few concerns regarding the application. 1. Do I stand a better chance in getting this visa if my skill in listed in CSL? Of coz, considering that the new priority system doesn't include 476. 2. I have siblings who are OZ permanent residents. I believe the application doesn't require sponsor but can i include it to help my application? Are they eligible as my sponsor? 3. Do I need to submit certified documents using eVisa application? Or just scan them? 4. Will the application be faster through a migration agent? 5. I have read that some ppl took 9 months to a year to get their 476 approved. What if I decide to further study in OZ after applying 476? Will both applications be revoked? 6. I also need inputs from anyone who had gotten 476 or experienced the application process. Thanks alot
  12. Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me. Was going to apply today for my subclass 476 visa but I have just noticed a problem. Part of the terms to be eligible is you have had to graduated within two years. My problem is my degree certificate has June 20th 2007 in the corner but I actually graduated (had the ceremony) on 31july 2007. Given today’s date I’m running out of time to find out info. Which date do they look at, I’m guessing the one on my degree which means I’m too late but I just wanted to see if there was any hope!
