Now we know that applications for category 5 have been allocated to case officers for upto december 2009. but what about applicants from 2010 and after. Has anyone who applied in 2010 in category 5 got case officer? I applied in April and I want to know others who applied around same time. Or do u know someone who got CO?

Hi All, Can't believe it, this place is hard to take sometimes. :sad: In a nutshell, moved from Liverpool UK in Jan 2010 with 2 cats - now 9yo. Two days ago our male was fine - he was the house cat, the female is an outdoors cat. He hid in our closet for 24 hours - usually hides, but I didn't see him eat his dinner, or sit with us when the kids went to bed. About 2am I woke up and opened the door as I heard him moving inside, so he could go in and out as he pleased. Didn't think to check him, so next afternoon thought he was trapped somewhere when I found him in the cupboard, unable to move, his breathing sounding like snoring, struggling a miaow, covered in urine, a real mess and pretty harrowing. carried him and lay him on the kitchen floor while I got catbox, vet called and baby in carseat for dash to vets. Raced to the vets - they found a tick on his neck - (1cm murderer!!!) and they stayed with him till 9pm, he got stressed being moved - to be taken to a 24hr vet facility, and so they said they'd have to leave him unattended in the surgery with oxygen, sedated, and see if he made it by himself. Got a call at 7.45 on Tues 26th Oct, to say he'd died in the night. Went there at 9.30am to say goodbye. :cry: Worst is that I didn't want him to die alone, so wish we could have brought him home and stayed with him. Once we'd got the cats from Quarantine in March, it felt the family was whole again. Now it's a nightmare, and I feel like I just can't breathe. The guilt of bringing him, of not finding him earlier, of now cleaning out the shelf he was on, and the cat box and towel I took him to the vets in. Just so many tears. He was with us pre-kids. I insisted on bringing them because they are family. Doing the kitchen sink thing, and being irrational thinking, why did we even come out here, such a struggle and now this before our first Xmas here. argh!:cry::sad: It's only been a day or so, so pretty raw still, but he's not coming back. and I'm at a loss. Poor kids just keep saying, oh mummy don't cry. It's ok. One word from the wise, 'you can't turn back time'. And that's all I seem to be wishing right now.

Hi guys, I applied for my 485 VISA in August 2010 (using old SOL with transitional arrangement) and now I'm ready to apply for 885 VISA with occupation in new SOL. It's almost a year since my application for 485 and I deadly want it now so that I can apply for 885 before DIAC decides to make their moves again! Is there a way to get them notice my 485 application? I've used all necessary means (phone, email, and even an agent) but there is no success so far. Some of my friends told me that I just need to call them and say I'm ready to apply for 885 and they would assess my 485 application right away. Has anybody here done that? I'm pretty much appreciated for your comments, hints and tips. Many thanks.

Hi Would anyone out there be able to help me. I applied for a 175 visa in April 2010 and at the time my occupation was on the Schedule 1 list. I called immigration twice in April and they confirmed I was in Priority 3. When I still had not been allocated a case officer I called again this week and was told I am now in priority 4 as they are retropectively applying Schedule 3, which my application is not on, to everyone who applied prior to its introduction in July 2010. The immigration website says clearly in several places that Schedule 1 is the list that applies to my application, but the agents have been instructed not to process it. So people who applied after me are getting priority. I am in Oz on a working holiday visa but my time is up with my employer at the end of this month. They want to keep me on but are not in a position to sponsor me. Does anyone know what has happened to applicants who applied under schedule 1 prior to July 2010, and can anyone give me some advice? The Next Brisbannites Meet Up.... Hey there, With just 2 weeks until the next meet up we thought we would just send out a final reminder to everyone to have it in their diaries. Time: 1pm Place: Wynnum Esplanade Whale Water Park and Playground Date: Saturday 23rd October 2010 Quite a few people travelled over to New Farm Park from the coast for the last meet up so we thought it only fair to have the next meet up a little closer to the sea. There are bbq's there so if everyone brings a little bit of food with them just like last time we can all tuck in! We're really looking forward to it. Hi, I was told by many Cat3 applicants that they received a letter from DIAC indicating a CO will be assigned for them in the next 3 months, urging them to get PCC + health checks done (they got this letter around March 18th) - however, I did not get such a letter. Anyone may have an idea why? Do you think I should also get prepared?

Hello lovely people, I am new to this and have had a few problems finding a good forum to post to...I think I have found the best on as there are a few at the mo! I am a copper of 8 years and my wife Clare is a registered nurse of 14 years (deputy sister), paediatric trained and some. On 20th Dec 2010 we lodged our application to try and get some of the good life. We have 3 children where the oldest is 12. The migration application is based on Clare with her skills in demand. Does anyone know how long this part of the process will take, before the medicals are required? And does anyone know how to access the site where yo can see how the progress is going, without contacting our agent each time? I have lost of wild questions to ask, but as a virgin user....that sounds wrong! I will keep the questions down to a minimal first off! Thanks you all!:wink:

I've noticed on a couple of threads that there are a few people relocating (or have relocated) to Brisbane this year. I thought that it would be good if all those relocating (or those already relocated) could sign-up to this thread so that we can all keep tabs on each other and - in the not too distant future - meet-up in Brisbane? We're flying out to Brisbane on 27 July 2010 and will be looking to live in or around the Kenmore / The Gap / Sinnamon Park / Chapel Hill / Ashgrove areas. We have posted a couple of times now so thought we should put in a wee introduction to ourselves. Rob and Pam, hopefully moving to Melbourne in March 2010 on a 457 visa. Portuguese and Scottish, living in England. Neither of us have been to Australia before. Rob works in IT which would be the visa source, although we have not had the formal job offer yet. Holidays are driving us crazy with the waiting. Pam works as an administrator, so just going to start the job hunt when we arrive. Feel like it has all moved very quickly, especially when we see some people planning for over a year. We had never contemplated moving to Australia until a friend who was moving to Melbourne jokingly suggested Rob check out job opportunities there. Thankfully no kids or pets to organise, and no house to sell or much furniture to ship. If we head over on schedule we will be less than 6 months from initial job application to actual move. Looking at apartments in the St Kilda / Prahran areas of Melbourne as we like city life, want to be close to the CBD and we are not ready for kids just yet, also know a couple of people in the St Kilda area so seems sensible. Keen to hear from anyone with experience of moving quickly on a 457 visa or who know the areas we are interested in living in. Fingers crossed for the job offer early in the New Year! Pam and Rob

One day, when frustration kicked in I just sent in an inquiry feedback through Chris Bowen government website to ask about SMPs. Surprisingly I received email reply from DIAC when I least expect it to happen :chatterbox: DIAC commented and intended SMP will be completed and in place by 1 Dec 2010. It's not gonna be long and we have gone that far to 1 Dec. :biggrin:
