    176 Application October 2008

Hello all, I have looked through these forums many times before, but I am now at a stage where I need some advice. I applied for 176 family sponsord visa on the 17/10/2008. Since applying I have heard nothing from DIAC. I Front loaded my police checks and meds and according to the online tracker they were finalized few weeks after I applied. However, the general status of my application has not changed. I originally applied with a job (Industrial Design) that was on the SOL, now since the 1st of July 2011 it is no longer there. This brings me to my question, what category am I in? and are any of you in a similar position? I have been reading a few threads here and there that look similar to my situation where applicants have applied after me, yet been approved a visa already?? As some general background... I moved here in Jan 2009 on a working holiday visa hoping the 176 would be approved within the year. Since then I have been working and living on a 457.. 3 of them actually! and just waiting for the 176 to be approved. One other thing I should mention.. on the online application status under "entitlements" it provides me with all the conditions retaining to my 457.. does this mean my application will not be looked at until my current 457 expires? Thank for your time and I would greatly appreciate any advice / help you can offer. :Randy-git:I feel this smiley best represents my feelings.. DIAC messing with my head with all their categories and changes! Ben

  6. Hi everyone, Finally, after long wait of 2 years and 1 month. yesterday got my PR. Thank God and all the members here on this forum to guide me whenever I had questions in mind. Its been a tough ride for me and my wife and now looking to get my wife here as soon as possible. I fought hard for this day and I can say that it was worthwhile, 2 months back I had no hope as I had no CO assigned but before election I wrote few letters to Chris Evans, Ombudsman, Melbourne Mayor and other opposition leaders about my situation. And it worked out really well. Got the reply from Chris Evan office and they wrote that they looked into my long pending 885 application and assigned me a CO. After that CO asked me to do all the formalities again such as medical, ACS skill assessment, police clearance. Yesterday got my positive ACS skill assessment, and yesterday only CO finalised my case. Woohooooooo........ I can't express my feeling here in words but definitely it was lifetime experience for me and i can say last 2 years since I lodged my 885 application, was the toughest of my life. I would also like to say to all the ICT 885 applicants who are waiting for long about more than 1or 2 years due to stoopid ACS and DIAC mess, be there and keep fighting. Hopefully all pending cases will be cleared soon. Here is my quick time line. Application type: 885 ICT - Recent graduate NEC - non CSL Lodgment date: 1st Sept 2008 Skills: ICT recent graduate CO assigned: 17 Aug 2010 New ACS Skill assessment applied on: 21st Aug 2010 (2613-11 Analyst Programmer) Redone my Medical, AFP and overseas police clearance During Sept 2010 ACS Approval: 8th Oct 2010 PR Approval: 8th Oct 2010 Good Luck to all!

  9. Help please!! We are waiting for a 485 since Oct 2009 and have been stuck on a bridging visa (this has big school fee implications in QLD). For the last 3 months I have been sending blank emails to GSMB.Information@immi.gov.au and the processing date for 485 electronic has moved month by month for applications made July 2009, Aug 2009, Sept 2009. My email yesterday told me 11th Aug 2008, and today 18th Aug 2008. Immi were phoned today and tell me that the current date is correct - the others were wrong sorry!!! We were expecting ours to be showing in the processing dates this month and give us some financial relief from school fees soon!! Can anyone shed any light on this?? Have you had a 485 appoved recently?? Cheers

GSM 175 visa applied in 2008

Hi all, I am new here and have enjoyed all the discussions on the forums. Right now, my patience is wearing thin due to a total lack of movement regarding my GSM 175 visa application I submitted in August 2008. Here is my case, GSM 175 Visa application lodged and acknowledgement of receipt by DIAC on the 7th of August 2008. All relevant documents eg. police checks, skill assessments were sent off as well. My nominated occupation is "Accountant". Right now, after 1.5 years of waiting, I have not heard a single thing back from DIAC. Could this be due to the changes to the IELTS requirements for accountants which happened last year? At this stage, I am not sure if my application as an accountant is effected by the minimum 7 band which came into play last year. Can anyone advice me on this matter? I applied for a South Australian SS last month and got the approval yesterday in preparation to apply under GSM 176, but to be honest, SA is not my preferred state to be in, but I didnt much choice as they were the only one doing SS at the time. Any advice, recommended action will be greatly appreciated. Cheers

  17. Hi all, Just feeling really pants today - our visa journey seems endless........... Was wondering whether we are actually the last ones on POI not to have got our visa yet. We started back in August 2007 - then changes to TRA and vetasses meant we had to wait until September 2007 to get started - OH passed all Vetassess assessments by December 2007 then IELTS was required to get enough points - massive waiting lists - finally passed requirements April 2008 - lodged visa May 9th 2008 online. Medicals Sept 2008 & pC's - Meds finalised on screen November 2008 - put on CSL Jan 2009 - taken off CSL March 2009 - Applied WA SS 17th March 2009 - approved 6th July 2009 - STILL NO VISA ARRRGGGHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:arghh::arghh: Sorry for the outburst !!!!!!! Anyway would like to know if anyone else in same boat so we can all moan together ??? Tina

    2008 QLD OP results published

http://www.qsa.qld.edu.au/downloads/about/qsa_stats_yr12_outcomes_08.pdf Disappointing (personally) our local school slip from 1st to joint 7th of Brisbane state high schools in terms of %OP1-15s - must be a blip! (first time out of top 5 in 4 years) Top state school performers in Brisbane are: 85% Brisbane State High (South Brisbane) 80% Indooroopilly State High 76% Ferny Grove State High 75% Alex Hills State High 74% Kenmore State High 75% Wavell Heights State High 73% The Gap State High 73% Redcliffe State High I think thats the first time anything East of the city got a mention in the top 5 (although Redcliffe may have got a mention a few years ago)
  20. Has anyone who applied in December 2008, for a 175 visa, and who is on the CSL received a CO yet? DIAC seem to have stopped moving forward? Only applicants up and to November 2008 are receiving CO's and it hasn't changed for a few weeks.
  21. Well i never thought this day would come - Just checked my emails and we received a lovely e-mail at 03.40 this morning to tell us that we finally have a case officer. We have already sent off our meds and police checks and the only thing missing is a copy of my daughters passport page. I have scanned this across today so hopefully the next e-mail we receive will be the golden visa e-mail. I never thought this would happen to someone like me but it has so i am really pleased.

    September 2008 Applicants

Hi all not sure if there is already one of these going but I couldn't find it if there was. My partner and I have been using an agent, we e-lodged our application including uploading our docs on 18th Sep, by the 6th Oct it was still saying that the docs were required. I wrote to our agent and asked her to follow it up with an e-mail. She did and this was Adelaide's reply. Dear Sir/Madam Thank you for your email. Any documents attached in your email have been received successfully. Please do not also mail the same documentation as the electronic version will be sufficient. Please refrain from sending original documentation unless you are specifically requested to do so by a Case Officer. In future, when submitting documents for an E-visa application, please note that instead of emailing your documents you can attach the items on-line by going to: https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/visas/attachment/start.do?attachType=VISA_A PPLICATION&group=travel The on-line checklist will only be updated with received documents once your case has been allocated to and assessed by a Case Officer. Once all requested documents have been received and assessed by a Case Officer, checks will be undertaken. Upon completion of the checks, your application will then be forwarded to a Decision Maker to finalise. Please understand that there will be a delay between the transfer of your file from a Case Officer to a Decision Maker. Thank you for your patience with this. In order to improve our service, the ASPC has established a Communications Section to manage all other e-mail correspondence and enquiries. All application enquiries must be made on-line using an enquiry form. You can access this form by going to: General Skilled Migration Post-Lodgement Enquiry Form. If the email that you have forwarded to the Department contains an enquiry we ask that you please re-direct your correspondence and use the on-line form. Information on processing times is updated weekly and can be obtained by sending a blank email to: aspc.processing@immi.gov.au Yours sincerely Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre Department of Immigration and Citizenship Going by this it looks like we have a case officer, but our agent said she wouldn't know until they contact her. Also the documents were then noted as being received on the 8th October Visa Type: 175, e-lodge and docs loaded: 18th Sep 08, Docs noted as received: 8th October 08.
  24. Anyone going to this tomorrow? I'm going to the 1.30pm session. I think it is more geared up to how to go about applying for immigration which is not a concern for me as I'm a dual national. just hoping they have some info on the job market / situation as this is my main concern. Our kids have Australian citizenship so will have to ask about my wife's status!! I'm presuming that will be okay.
  25. Hi All SOMV stands for Sort Out My Visa. The firm is owned and managed by a lady called Veronika Hurbis, who is an Australian Solicitor and Registered Migration Agent, currently practising in London. Browsing Veronika's website just now I came across her September 2008 Newsletter. It is here: http://sortoutmyvisa.com/somv_content/newsletter/sort-out-my-visa-newsletter-september2008.html Apart from visa information, apparently the Beeb is planning to make a new series of Wanted Down Under and would like to hear from people who may be interested. Details are in the newsletter. I hope Veronika won't shoot me for this! She is a lovely lady, very able, and anyone looking for an Agent might well wish to give Veronika a ring. Best wishes Gill
