    190 QLD Offer of Employment

Hi all, For 190, BSMQ requires me to have an offer of employment from my employer foe 12 months. I have spoken to my employer and they will only be writing that 'employment is ongoing', NOT 'employment is ongoing for 12 MONTHS'. My migration agent thinks we can give it a try with just this. What are everyone else's thoughts on this?
  2. I’ve had a look around various parts of this forum to try and find an answer but all the threads about it seem to have been from a few years ago so I’m not sure how up-to-date they are, so sorry if you’re reading this and it’s already been answered. Anyway, I’m a freelance translator and interpreter keen to emigrate with my family (spouse and two children). I have run my own business as a sole trader for 7/8 years and see from the 190 skills list that interpreter is on there. Most of my work is in translation but I’ve taken on interpreting jobs in my freelance career, and it was the subject of my first degree. It seems I need to have my credentials approved by the NAATI, but haven’t been able to get very far in gaining their assistance, perhaps because, as stated on their website, their offices are closed due to the pandemic. From what I’ve seen of the application process it looks like I’d have to be nominated by an individual state. What isn’t clear is if I have to seek a post to gain the visa or whether I can emigrate on the 190 with my sole trader business. Is anybody able to steer me in a useful direction? All help appreciated! As a secondary question, I’m also finding it difficult to work out what, if any, school fees I’d have to pay for my kids (I’d be seeking to put them into the state system). From my research it seems the level of fees in schools is set by the state government, but the only government website page I can find about whether dependant children of visa holders have to pay seems to relate to children of students. Again, any help appreciated.
  3. Hi all, First time posting. I have been preparing information to apply for either the 189/190 Visa. I would like to include my partner (girlfriend of 6 years) on my Visa. I may have to apply for the 189 so I wanted to see if I can claim the partner skills points. I can see that I can gain points under 'Partner skills' in the points tables on the immi.homeaffairs website for both Visa classes: 5 points can be claimed if - "Your spouse or de facto partner must also be an applicant for this visa and has competent English For you to be eligible for the award of these points your partner must be an applicant for the same visa subclass and must not be an Australian permanent resident or an Australian citizen." My question is on "your partner must be an applicant for the same visa subclass". Do I get the points if I include a partner on my visa? or are they saying the points are awarded if she was doing her own/separate visa application for the same class? I would also be interested to hear advice on if it is simple to include a partner when applying and who signs of that you are indeed 'defacto'? Thanks in advance Andy
  4. Hi, I have applied for visa 190 QLD in September 2019 and waiting for the grant. I am going to get married to US citizen soon. He has got ETA (electronic transit visa for US citizens) to visit Australia, visiting me end of March. question: 1. If I add him in my current application, would it affect my 190 visa processing time? 2. should I add him when he is offshore or Onshore? 3. If I add hime offshore, would he be able to visit me on his ETA visa. (ETA has 1 year validity with multiple entries). 4. If i add him Onshore, when will he get bridging visa? P.S. He wants to stay in Australia for 1-2 years until I get citizenship, also need working rights. Thanks.
  5. Hi I submitted my EOI on a June 8 for NSW 190 Management Consultant with 90 points (superior English). Does anyone have any idea when we might be invited? I lose age points in September so I’m worried about that. Any insight or personal experience anyone can share would be very helpful. Thanks
  6. Hi all, I’m hoping to hear from other forum members about their experience with State sponsorship from NSW. We have put an eoi in for State sponsorship from NSW (190), Secondary school teacher, on the 22nd of August with 65 points (including state sponsorship points) and I wonder how long others had to wait for an invite? My husband’s points are 25 for age, 15 for Education and 20 for English. The short(er) version of our story is that we lived in Perth for 14 months (on a student visa) till last March but had to leave Oz because our visa ran out and we didn’t receive an invite for the eoi we put in for Family Sponsored 489 (WA) or the 189 skilled independent (not enough points after they changed the minimum required points). Since then we’ve been back in the UK but can’t wait to return to Oz asap. We have recently put in an eoi for NSW as well, as they don’t seem to invite anyone for the Family sponsored visa anymore ? And from what I’ve been reading they need lots of teachers in regional areas in NSW, especially science teachers and we are more than willing to go country so I am hoping we will receive an invite soon. But sometimes I am losing all hope of ever returning as they seem to change the rules constantly... Thanks for “listening” ? and looking forward to hear other people’s experiences.

    Home Edition TOEFL

Hi Hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe! I was wondering if anyone knows if the TOEFL Home Special Edition is accepted? Due to the lockdown in the UK, test centres are shut but TOEFL are offering a fully proctored home edition but not sure if this would be accepted by Aus Gov? Anyone with any insight - please share!
  8. Hi there, Apologies if this is a bit of long post but I've been looking seriously into applying for the 190 visa in project/program administrator category over the last few days but still have a few questions before I take the plunge and start paying for agents, VETASSESS, medical etc. Questions below and very grateful in advance for any assistance: 1. I've taken the basic points check but I'm having a hard time determining how many years experience I have. I would say I have 8+ years in the field but some of that is lower level. I live in the UK and have worked at the same company for over 8 years. My job titles from current to oldest are Programme Manager (1 year, 10 months), Assistant Programme Manager (4 years, 2 months - not sure why my company use this title but equivalent is to a Project Manager), Programme Coordinator (1 year), Programme Administrator (1 year, 6 months). All roles have been with the same organisation, a not for profit in the environmental sector. My roles have primarily been focused on delivering grant programmes for the Government in UK on an annual funding cycle focusing on promoting environmental policies and action. When I look at the description of the tasks they are looking for it matches a lot with my core tasks, although I'm not sure the kind of work I'm doing is exactly what they are looking for as I'm not generally building anything, doing IT etc. I have a fundamentals qualification with the Association for Project Managers (APM) but no other educational qualification in this area (I have a Honours degree from a UK university in Politics which does score me some points in other areas but not a lot). Any thoughts on how I might get on with VETASSESS? 2. I have a congenital heart and lung condition which is giving me slight concern for the medical section. I know that all cases are assessed individually but I'd love any experience shared on this. I am 34 and very stable, dont have any medication and havent had any surgery for decades. I do see a cardiologist every year though and get some fairly basic checks. I fully appreciate here I wont get a full answer but I would love any personal experiences from those that have gone through the medical exam with any related health issues. Also, can anyone confirm if I should get the medical done prior to even submitting the EOI? 3) Language - Both my partner and I are native English speakers, UK citizens and have got degrees from UK universities. Am I correct that we still need to take an English language test? And does this also need to be done prior to submitting the EOI Apologies for the length but would love some feedback before I start parting with my hard earned money. Thanks in advance Neil
  9. Hi everyone, bare with me as im kinda new to this.. I have a few things I feel I need clearIng up as the obsession of how to get a 189 has taken over my life I would appreciate any help and I think others who may not have the same occupation as me could find very helpful as well so any help is welcome. Firstly I’m relying hugely on gaining as much points as possible by sitting the IELTS test, now this may seem a crazy dumb question but is the IELTS test based the same for the UK as it is for Australia? I cant remember why but i was under the impression that whatever country the testing centre was in that the test there would be marked in accordance with what that country are looking for, for example is there an IELTS for Australia and an IELTS for Canada and an IELTS for the UK etc or is ielts the same all over? Sorry if I haven’t explained my question this in the best way possible. Secondly I’m a 7 year qualified car mechanic who spent a year in Oz in 2015 on a working holiday visa with my partner, to cut a long story short my plan all along after researching visas while i was in Australia was to come home and build up my points through years experience. Im now at least 5 but less than 8 years post apprenticeship. Now im going to jump way ahead of myself here but if i had to get accepted on a 189 visa is it mandatory that i work within my skilled occupation that i have been accepted on or Is it possible to work in another line of work? If so would this in anyway affect my chances of gaining Australian citizenship in the future if i never worked as a car mechanic whilst on my 189? Another huge couple questions form me... My partner of 7 years is 27 years old the same age as me. I don’t imagine she would have any issues getting superior English in the IELTS test, she has just recently become a qualified nurse in the UK. I really would like to know does she need to get her skills assessed as i will so i can claim points when putting her on the visa? Also considering she has just qualified am i still able to claim these points or does she need years experience the way i did? In terms of “the que” am I up against every other occupation on the list with way more points or am i up against car mechanics only? i have had a look at the 190 also however i would like to work in WA or Queensland and a mechanic isn’t on their list. At my absolute best and with a lot of studying I believe i could get 80 points. Has anyone ever heard of a mechanic on more than 80 points and not been invited? For that matter has anyone ever heard of a mechanic gaining a 189 visa? Like i say any help is welcome guys hope to hear some answers as I’ve given myself a sore head over the last few weeks
  10. Hi all, My name is Susie and am hoping to move to Australia with my boyfriend James. I’m an occupational therapist and James is a registered nurse. Our heart is really set on Melbourne and we are hoping to get a 190 skilled VIC state nomination visa with James as the primary applicant. James has 9 years experience as a Registered Nurse in the UK, he has a diploma in nursing but currently doing a top up course course to bring this to a BSc which ends in May. With 9 years experience as an RN James would have 85 + 5 points for 190 in VIC and meet the 2 year work experience requirement. (I can’t be the primary applicant as VIC requires 10 years experience for my occupation which I do not have). BUT we are worried that James’s 9 years as a registered nurse will not be recognised before his BSc bridging course. This would reduce our points significantly and mean we would not be eligible for state nomination from Victoria as they require 2 years experience. Has anyone been through this similar situation? I have been through a few threads, it seems that ANMAC will accept this experience but there is a chance that migration might not? Thanks for your help! Susie
  11. Hi there, I recently received my 190 visa invitation but due to the current Corona related circumstances, I have some confusions regarding my application. Here's my situation: I'm currently on a 485 visa and have been residing in Australia for the last 3 years. Before international flights ban, I traveled to my home country for a family visit and am currently stuck here unable to return indefinitely. Now that I received my invitation, I only have about 40 days to submit my visa application and have decided to apply for the visa from here. This makes me an offshore applicant. I've to submit two forms for the visa application, the main 190 application and Form 80. In my 190 application, there are three instances of addresses I have to put down. Current location - This is clear. The helps suggest it's the geographical location at the time of application, i.e. my home country where I am right now Usual country of residence - This is my first confusion. Do I put my usual country of residence as Australia with Australian address and postal or my home country? But I'm leaning more towards Australian address as that's my primary country of residence where I intend to reside, but still not completely sure. Address history (Current address) - Next is my address history which asks me to add residence for the last 10 years. The most recent residential address asks me if it's my current address. I'm not sure if current address means current location. Here too I feel Australia would be my most recent residential address and I should say declare it as my current address as I will be returning back to Australia as soon as I can. But again, since I'm not in Australia and am considered an offshore applicant, I'm not sure what should I put down here. For my form 80, it's just the same with address history and whether I should put down my visit to my home country as an address or just travel movement. Let me know what you guys think. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

    Secondary School Teacher 190/491

Hi Everybody! I've been browsing this site for a loooooong time and it's been so useful throughout the whole process of trying to get to Oz! I figured it was finally time to share my story so far and hear from other prospective or successful secondary school teacher migrators! My partner is the main applicant; points breakdown are as follows: age: 28 - 30 points work experience: 5 years - 10 points qualifications: BA and PGCE - 15 points English competency: Superior - 20 points Partner: competent English (no assessable skills) - 5 points Total = 80 points We have a positive skills assessment from AITSL and applied for the 189 in April/May time this year. Unfortunately we had 75 points at that time and the invites just weren't coming in for the 75 pointers and since the rule changes in November, we had to manually update the EOI and lost the initial date etc. and still are very unlikely to get an invite on the 189 with 80 points. So; we've now gone for the 190 and 491. We managed to apply for QLD for both when it briefly opened yesterday, we have 85 points for the 190 and 95 points for the 491. We are not using a MARA agent, I've done the work myself and have found the process to be very complex but can understand most of it with it enough research - I have dedicated a stupid amount of hours to this! We're currently awaiting registration with QLD college of teachers but expect this to go through without a hitch so I'm feeling hopeful we'll get invited eventually but no idea when! Just wanted to share where we are at currently and if anyone else is in the same boat? It's a little frustrating as when we first started working on applying beginning of 2018 we would have gotten there no problem with our points and things have changed so quickly since then. But, staying hopeful and positive Would love to share the journey with other people!

    Any NSW 190 plumber invitations?

Hi We've submitted an EOI for 190 visa (February 2020), plumber 70 + 5, hoping to get invited by NSW. Wondering if any plumbers have been invited by NSW recently and how many points you had / how long it took to be invited? Or if you're in the same boat waiting for NSW plumber invite let's get in touch and keep each other updated on progress!

    190 Registered Nurse

Hi I’m recently graduated RN from Australia. I have applied EOI on 4/3/20 for 189 on 75 points and 190 Victoria on 80 points. Should I wait for 190 invitation or apply for 491 as well. And how long will I be waiting for my invitation for 190 victoria. Thanks
  15. First post here so hello all! I've basically joined to share my woes and hopefully gain some reassurance or useful knowledge whilst going through this process. I feel as if I am fast approaching a crossroads in my visa decision making so it will be good to talk it through with someone. I'll make this into a short easy to read timeline of my journey so far - Aug 2016 - Aug 2017 - Completed WHV (met gf in Jan 2017 and started dating) Nov 2018 - Skills assessment approved after a long laborious process. EOI Lodged for Engineering Technologist 190 VIC - 65pts. Jan 2019 - GF moves over to UK with 2 year WHV after over a year long distancing. June 2019 - EOI lodged for Engineering Technologist 189 - 65pts - Updated 190 VIC - 70pts (had to wait for 5years experience for these 5pts) *Since Jan 2018 I have taken x4 IELTS/PTE exams where every time I have been 1-2 marks off Superior English. Example - Spkg 9.0 / Read 8.5 / Write 8.0 / List 7.5. (I have another booked 7th March.) Current Stats - 29 years (30pts) / IELTS (10pts) / BSc degree (15pts) / 5-8yrs Overseas Experience (10pts) / Single or Citizen Partner (5pts) = 65 or 65+5 190. Obviously its imperative I gain those extra 10 available for the English exam asap but even so I think I'm in danger of not be granted anything before the year is up and she has to return as 75 or 75+5 doesn't seem to be cutting the mustard currently... So...Option A is we move to NZ at the end of 2020 and I use my WHV whilst we wait for it to be granted. (but will be EOI's run out by then)? Option B In conjunction with 'A' we turn to Partner Visa of some kind (marriage/proposal is a strong possibility irrespective of this visa situation)(shes waiting for a ring!). But still the processing times are ludicrous and who knows how that will go. Linked to this would a fiance 300 visa work for me to at least enter and be able to work with staying with her? I will be discussing this with my agent of course but any opinions or advice would be most welcome. Cheers, Alistair.

    Invitation 190 Queensland

Hi everyone, dealing with a Qld 190 state nomination... so pleased to get an invite but have 14 days to submit any extra required documentation.. including QCT (teaching certificate ADDITIONAL) to skills assessment which might take 4-6weeks! does anyone know if your EOI case officer has the authority to ‘hold’ your application open whilst you await a document? We asked for extension and got a week.. just wondering if they have much say over what happens to invitations/pending applications?! Also if anyone has experienced this and has recently had their QCT from overseas, how long did it take... thanks in advance jack
  17. Hi, I'm planning to apply for 190 visa from VIC as a Registered Nurse (254499) from a Recent Graduate pathway. I already satisfy all conditions and it's not a requirement for me to submit a job/current employment offer, but I thought it might make my case strong. I'm already working as a casual employee as an RN but I think VIC requires me to submit a job offer for a permanent position which I don't have. So, should I go ahead and apply for the nomination without an offer? Thanks.
  18. Hey guys! Sorry I’m new to this site and just looking to gauge some advice on the best ways to tackle the visa application process. Hoping to be sitting at 70 points (after IELTS test next month) and will gain another 5 points in June when my work experience hits the 3 year point. My partner could gain the application another 5 points if he was to do his skills test for joinery/carpentery but after reading up online it looks like it’s a few thousand $s so not sure it’s worth it for 5 points. Basically trying to establish the chances of actually getting a 190 for Sydney (our ideal situation) which would be our goal or go for the 491.
  19. Hi all, I filled out my application and submitted already but worried I did a part wrong. Give details of employment undertaken during the 10 year period before the invitation to lodge this application. Is the applicant claiming points for this employment? No Is this employment related to the nominated position? Yes Has the applicant been employed overseas in their nominated occupation or a closely related occupation at a skilled level, immediately before invitation to lodge this application? Yes Duration of overseas Less than 3 years in the past 10 years I put Yes as it was linked to my nominated position but not claiming points and it wasn't assessed by AITSL. Do I have to gather evidence now due to me putting yes? Thanks
  20. Hey Guys! I'm an offshore Registered Nurse (254415), applied for 190 VIC with EOI date-9/8/2019 at 85 points (Including SS points). I have been waiting for a pre-invite from VIC since a very long time. Not sure, at what points and when VIC sends out invitations. I don't have any employment offer letter from VIC and I guess, you actually don't need this if applying from offshore. Please correct me if i'm wrong. I was wondering if there is anyone in a similar boat? Any comments/feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
  21. Hi All, One of the Australian citizenship (by conferral) eligibility requirement is "living in Australia on a valid visa for the past 4 years" If I wanted to apply for Australian citizenship in Jan 2023 - does my 4-year count start on Mar 2018 OR only on Jan 2021 because I have a gap in holding a valid visa? Basically am I eligible to apply for citizenship in Jan 2023 assuming I meet all other non-residence requirements? Mar 2018 - Mar 2020 on 457/TSS visa Apr 2020 - Dec 2020 on no visa (left Australia after applying for SC190 visa) Jan 2021 - Dec 2022 on PR Thanks!

    Documents Needed For NSW Nomination

Hi everyone, I have a few questions that I hope I will get the answers here. I have just received an email stating that I got pre invited by NSW yesterday. The state gives me 14 days to complete the application form for NSW nomination. The state also requires me to provide documents as proofs to show that my case is genuine and my point is real. I'll break down my point to make it a little easier to understand. - Age: 30p (PROOF: Passport) - English: 20p (PROOF: PTE certificate) - Australian study + Qualifications: 5p + 10p (PROOF: All of my certificates) - Single: 10p (I don't think I need to show any proof for this category) There are 2 categories left, which are experience point (5p) and regional study (5p) that I'm not sure which documents I should submit as evidence. Unfortunately, the official website of NSW does not list which specific documents either. I don't have an employment contract since I'm casual (but I have been working at my current workplace for almost 2 years, with working hours ranging from 15+ to 40+/week). I can get my hands on my pay slips, letter of employment confirmation, bank transaction history and payment summary. Are there any other documents that I should provide? Should I also provide tax assessment or super certificate as well? Thank you in advance for any kind souls who reply to this post. I would be really appreciated.
  23. Hi Friends, I am a specialist doctor and need some guidance on 189 or 190 visa application. I completed my specialty training from India and applied to AMC & RACP for assessment of my training/education. RACP found me fully comparable to an Australian trained specialist and after completing 12 months of peer-review practice, I got my specialist registration. Now I want to apply for 189/190 visa. I want to claim points for my previous work experience in medicine & the specialty field. I checked Govt immi website and it says assessing authority is Medical Board of Australia. But on Medical board website, there is no mention that they will assess the previous work experience for points in immigration. I have called them also and they confirmed that they do not assess previous experience. Please help with the below: 1) How to get points assessed for the previous work experience 2) Do I need to get around 80 points to get the invitation, or is it less for a doctor (as very few people apply in my occupation) Any help would be highly valued. Thanks!!

    Maths teacher trying to emigrate

Hi My partner and I are trying to emigrate, I will be the primary applicant on 75 points for 189 but we will go up to 80 when the new rules kick in as he is a British citizen. I have spoken to a couple of recruiters and schools and they are all very positive about the opportunities for maths teachers. Previously I was assured that getting a visa would be easy but from looking on this forum, it appears it won't be. I know that Victoria will sponsor maths teachers for 190 visas, does anyone have any experience of migrating with a 'shortage' subject? Is the subject you offer taken into account for the 189 visa? Many thanks in advance
