Hello to anyone that can help me in Brisbane. My wife 2 children and I are moving to Oz from the UK on the 2nd of June. And we do not have anywhere to stay at the moment. We are looking for a short term furnished rental in a nice area for about $400.00 a week. Ideally we would like to stay for one month or possibly longer if its a good fit for us, so your help would be greatly appreciated. Any assistance or direction would be good, because a lot of short term accommodation providers seem to market their prices just below the cost of a hotel but way above the rental prices. Wish list include: clean, safe peaceful with good transport links in and out of Brisbane. KIND REGARDS TIM FROM THE UK:smile:

Hi Guys, any Mechanics out there looking for work? I am the Service Manager of a Holden Dealer, and am looking for technicians with a British work ethic! I don't need Dealer experience although it would be a bonus. I have lots of work for people with the right attitude. ie work hard earn plenty! after all, that's what it's about! I also have vacancies for Service Advisors. I myself have been newly recruited and will tell you no lies, the dealer needs work! The upside is that their are some really nice people with really good ideas and there is plenty of work. The vacancies are west of the city in Port Adelaide, around 15min drive from Glenelg, the company has 14 dealerships and are looking to expand. They also branch out into Finance and Caravaning so a pretty well established company. PM me if you are interested Cheers

Hi All, My brother is an electrical engineer with over 20 yrs experience. He has been trying to get to Oz for years (with an agent) who turned out to be a bit of a charlaton. Cost him over £8000 and then said he needed to come to Oz for an inerview!!!!!. Needless to say he is no longer with this agent, but despite having spent hours on the internet (him in the uk and me here in Brisbane) we cannot find an employer or a vacancy, even though his job is listed on the skills list. We have tried all the usual job agencies but maybe we are just not looking in the right places. Anyway, I digress. Does anyone know of a job opportunity anywhere which might suit. I would be most gratefull for your help. Best places would be Brisbane, as thats where we are and could help with accommodation etc or Melbourne as his wife's brother lives there. Many thanks Lynne

Here's the details of when "Wanted down under Revisited" is on: BBC 1 Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 9:15am to 10:00am The Warners - Revisited. Nadia Sawalha catches up with previous Wanted Down Under families. Last year, the Warner family from Oxfordshire were considering moving to Queensland's capital, Brisbane. Bob had been dreaming of emigrating for years, and teacher Libby was wanted down under because of the Australian skills shortage. But teenager Emily was reluctant, to say the least. So 12 months later, where are they now? BBC 1 Thursday, January 24th, 2008 9:15am to 10:00am The Larners - Revisited. Nadia Sawalha catches up with previous Wanted Down Under families. Last year, the Larner family from Berkshire were considering a move to Perth, Western Australia. Electrician Paul found he'd have no trouble finding work, if he could get over his spider phobia, but wife Gemma was worried about leaving friends and family behind. One year on, where are they now? BBC 1 Friday, January 25th, 20089:15am to 10:00am The Jones - Revisited. (aka OUR VERY OWN "DONOVAN"!) Nadia Sawalha catches up with previous Wanted Down Under families. Last year, the Jones family from Bedfordshire were considering a move to Australia's Gold Coast. Carpet layer Don found he could earn as much as in the UK, and with property prices cheaper, wife Sarah just had to get over her guilt about leaving friends and family behind. So one year on, where are the Jones family now? http://uk-tv-guide.com/show-times/634981/Wanted+Down+Under+Revisited/Entertainment/ Mags:wubclub: x

:unsure:Will we really be WANTED Down Under? I recently joined PiO and I have been addicted ever since... I have read other members stories and the great advice offered. It has always been my dream to move to Australia... ever since I was younger and I used to have boomerangs, koalas and kangaroos (obviously of the toy variety) in my room. I had a map on my wall showing all the places I wanted to visit. But my question is will I be welcomed in Oz. I am a gay mum with a 6 year old daughter. I am in a long term and very stable relationship with my partner. We both have very supportive families and friends in the UK and ever since the day I “Came Out” I have very luckily received (touch wood) no negativity. My biggest concern is my daughter and how others will treat her. Being 6 at the moment it isn’t really a big deal for her at the moment but I know this will prob change as she gets older. My daughter still sees her dad on a regular basis so wouldn’t want to take her away from him now. We are not looking to emigrate for a good few years but I like to plan ahead. I I know that it’s easier to post your true feeling online “anonymously” so I would like to ask do you think we would be welcomed in Oz. Do you think we would fit in? Or do you think we would encounter bad feelings? I know in this day and age people’s opinions have changed a great deal with regards to homosexuality but is this the case in Oz and where there is a child in the family?!? My partner is Kiwi by birth and has travelled and lived in various places in Oz and she has never found it to be a problem. However, that was living in towns and cities and being with young 20 somethings and not in the suburbs amongst families. Would it matter to you and your family if you had a family living next door to you in Oz made up of one child and two females?

My partner Kim and I have found full time work in Sydney and have been flitting between friends house's, north and south for a couple of months. Before that we were living with Kim's parents in Melbourne. We are now desparate to locate a three or four bed house, with garden, in Sutherland Shire district and have full bond and a couple of months rent available upfront. Happy to pay up to c.$600 or $650 pw for the right property We have a well dehaved dog also (she can live outdoors, that's the dog, not Kim), but no kids. Seeking decent accommodation and hoping to move in quickly. Can anyone suggest anything other than the norm, i.e. the usual real estate agents ? Or do you know of someone that is looking to exit a lease that we can take over ? Or has a spare house or two and wants to rent one out ? lol Also, can anyone recommend any short term stays aside from rental in that area, just as a very short term measure ? many thanks !!!! Dave :err:

We are moving back to the UK hopefully towards the end of April and we are in a bit of a dilemma with our cat. She has had her rabies jab and is due to have her rabies blood test in four weeks and then we have to wait 6 months before she can be flown back to the Uk without going into quarantine for 6 months. So, we are looking for someone who would love to look after her for 6 months here on the Sunshine Coast. If we have to take her back with us in April she will have to spend 6 months in a quarantine cattery and we would like to avoid this if at all possible. Please contact me if you are able to help. Thank you Allison

Joondalup United FC is a British / Irish Football team competing in the Football West amateur Premier League in Perth. The season starts in early April and goes through to end of September. Currently in pre season we are looking to recruiting a couple of quality / experienced players. The club has an excellent squad but lacks a strong central defender and also requires a central midfielder with drive and energy. The club has many contacts and would be prepared to assist suitable players with getting work and accomodation. Almost all of the club members are ex pats from Britain and Ireland so a warm welcome, good football and great banter is assured! Please contact me, Bill Byrne - Senior coach on bill.byrne@hotmail.com for further information. Look forward to hearing from you !!

Hi, does anyone here have a gardener, or know a gardener that they can recommend? I am looking for someone to do regular garden maintenance and would prefer a recommendation, rather than just picking a name from the phone book. Thank you Love Rudi x

Good Evening from a very wet West Sussex, UK. My other half Jason is a Carpenter and Joiner and we are desperate to go to Oz. He did his Vetasses exam last April and January this year we got state sponsorship for Perth, however as you are all probably in the same boat that means nothing until the Government take there foot off the brakes for immigrants. Fingers crossed this new SOL list will be good news... anyone know anything on that. Anyway be lovely to hear from you with any thought ideas etc . Gemma

Hi all, We have a dilemma! we are returning to oz in July 2010 and were intending on living south of newcastle or around the top of the freeway. i (Mark) have not been promised a job but do have a company (in newcastle) interested in me and have said for me to keep in contact and to chat with them near the time of our move. however, i recently had a reply from another company i contacted and they are "very interested" in me to the point that i have had 1 telephone interview and the MD is coming to london in april and wants to meet up!, now this company is based in taren point post code 2229. this company have stated that they would be keen for me to live south of sydney and i have never visited that area or know what it is like? also i have 2 teenage daughters so high schools need to be looked at. your coments and views on either or both areas would be very much appreciated. cheers guys Mark & Tracey.
