Hi guys, Possibility of a job in Rockhampton.. Any info on what its like there to live? I really want to be in Brisbane but this could be the job im looking for, just concerned about location.. I know its the "beef capital" of Oz and gateway to the Barrier Reef.. Just want to know is it a bit "backwater" ???? :eek: Want to be somewhere where there is a good social life to be got and also have 17 year old daughter to consider! Hope someone can help!

Hi All, Plans are coming along we now have an area for hubby's job in Greenslopes and date June 2011. We now need to plan a few areas to visit so looking to narrow search, any help would be most welcome!!!!! We are looking for something close to Greenslopes maybe 15mins travel with a minimum travel to beach and parks, sort of in middle. I have 2 boys who are 8 and 2.5 yrs so need really good private schools (he will be leaving a good good private school here) and a nice, safe family area to live. We would be renting for 1st 12 months but would like a big'ish house (for visitors) with a large garden and pool. I know this sounds like a big wish list but I'm hoping we can tick most boxes :-D Any ideas???? We are hoping to do a reccie either end of year or in April 2011. Many Thanks L.x

I have lots of exposed brick wall in my house which I want to cover up. It makes it very dark inside. But I am not sure whether it needs to be plastered, rendered or gyprocked! Does anyone have any advice? The walls go up at an angle to cathedral ceilings so I am guessing that gyprocking is slightly more complicated in that instance? They are quite high in places - like 4 - 5m at the top point. Anyway, if anyone has any advice for me I'd would be very grateful. Oh .......and I also need someone to do it for me - plus some other building work!!!! I am in the Redlands area of Brisbane. Love Rudi x

Hi All - My family and I moved to Avoca Beach on the Central Coast NSW in June 09 from the UK with no jobs thinking, shouldn't be too hard to secure a place with an employer..... Boy were we dumb or what! Why does the NSW Government make it so hard for anyone to get a job? Other States more lenient. OH passed the skills assessment to get into Australia (apparently his trade in demand...) then only to find his skill as a Plumber needs a license which will cost you $$$$ and 2yrs night school, but in the meantime you still gotta have a job to fund that! But whatever job you try to get - guess what.... You gotta have a certificate or license..... What's the point of the assessment? It's mad :realmad: Are they just money grabbing? Anyway enough of that. We have 3 children 12yo boy, 7yo girl and 5yo boy. Still settling in and finding our feet - things are so very different here :confused: but the Aussies are great. We had it so easy in the UK on the whole really! It would be great to meet up for chats / barbies. Good friends are so hard to find. Hi to all we are a family of 5 looking for a home with pool for rent within 15 mins drive of the Mater mothers hospital, we would love any advice on areas which are good / which are not so good? one area we are looking is Holland Park, Mt Gravatt can anyone recommend anywhere else? we have 7 weeks from Wednesday 19th may till we get to Oz so not long now. many thanks David & Heather:biggrin::hug:

Hello ... now if anyone can help then omg I will be sooo happy...... We are a family of 4 looking for a rental in Baldivis for middle of June...... We have tried many agents sending out emails ect but I have found they NEVER get back to you..... how the hell do rental agents make a living if they never return phone calls/emails etc.... and its no point doing anything at the weekends with these agents as we always get told.. ''oh ya have to come back during the week as the rental agents dont work weekends'' I work during the week.. so dont have the time to trial after agents when the cant be arsed..... sorry.. but it gets me sooo mad!!!!! Sooooo we are a nice family and are looking for long term rentals..... if you know anone or could help yourself then please contact me....... Thank you for reading my rant and query :cute:
