  1. Hi all, Its a bit of a long shot but I’m wondering if anyone on this site know anyone or them themselves have successfully applied for permanent skilled migration under Drainer, or who have worked as a Sewer Technician (unblocks, cctv, repair and maintenance work etc) My partner has worked as a sewer technician for 10+ years in the UK, we are currently in Australia on a 457. We are looking into PR via subclass 190 visa but it seems to apply as a ‘Drainer’ you need to have experience and qualifications in Gas and Plumbing also? My partner doesn’t have any gas experience but has some minor plumbing experience but no qualifications. He has qualifications in Jetting and CCTV work etc which we believe aren’t enough for the skill assessment. Any personal experiences from anyone who has been in a similar situation/ any other visa recommendations would be much appreciated!
  2. Hi all, I am a UK citizen currently in Australia and am here for another 3 weeks (on a tourist visa) living with my ozzie partner (soon to be fiancee). I would like to get all the documentation ready for my prospective marriage visa so I can lodge the application as soon as I return to the UK in March. However, the first question on the online immi account is regarding my whereabouts, because you can only apply for a PMV outside of Australia. I don't want to say I am outside of Australia when I'm not because in my application I will be detailing that I was in Australia until March 1st 2018. The thing I would really like is a document checklist for the PMV, so I can use this to prepare my application. Does anyone know where to find this or has one they could send me? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

    AGOS 40 Form

Hello guys, I'm not sure if this is the right section for posting, so apologies in advance if it's not. My partner and I are currently in the process of filling out the AGOS 40 form, to apply for registration as a nurse in Oz. We're currently gathering all the forms and documents which are required, but the only section that we're having a little trouble with is the education transcript. We've spoke to the University where my partner completed her course, but they've come back and asked for an exact list of what is required; they've mentioned a document/attachment that shows what needs to be sent. We have a copy of the Fact Sheet for Criterion 8, which outlines what evidence needs to be supplied in for the units completed in respect of the administration of medication. The Degree certificate also shows all the units completed on the reserve, but we kind of assumed that this is not detailed enough? We're just looking for some guidance on the best way to go about this. Do we send the application with all the evidence we have, and ask the University to send all the documents requested in the Criterion 8 sheet, or is there a definitive list of anything further we need to send? Thanks in advance for your help. Dale
  4. Hi All! I would be interested to hear from anyone who is, or has applied for their defacto whilst on a tourist visa in Oz. I heard from a friend who was previously in the same situation that you can get a visa with work rights before your de facto is granted. Does anyone have any experience of this? if so how long after you had applied did you have to wait to get the work visa? Ive heard it could be 3 months but was hoping it might be sooner!! I am in the uk at the mo, about to go over to oz in next couple of weeks to be with my partner who returned over there for work about 4 weeks ago. Once i am back in Sydney we will apply, and then play the waiting game! If i can get this work visa, things wold be great! Its going to be a long few months with both of us living off one salary if not! ... annoying thing is i have a good job waiting for me in Sydney, i just cant get to it because of this pesky work restriction!

    Visa for British couple

Hi Everyone, I wonder if anyone could help....I'm 37 and my partner is 30, after having working holiday visa's back 7 years ago, we are keen to return and live and work in Melbourne for a few years. I realise the visa system has changed recently, but we would love to go back out for a few years........I work in Education as a senior programme manager working with businesses on their CSR programmes relating to young people and placing students on work experience. my partner has recently (past 6 months) started working in telecoms in the railway industry, prior to that he worked in the North ea on an oil rig. Is there any chance of gaining a visa for 2 years or so? how do we go about it and what are the chances/or best bet? I would really appreciate and advice, thanks so much!!
  6. Hi all. I am desperate for some help please. Visa 189 submitted 28.10.17 Last week we finally had communication from a CO. Requesting evidence of employment for me and form 80 for my hustand and myself. Looking through the formal request when it details certifying documents it is very specific in saying that it must be a person who is equivalent to a justice of the peace e.g. notary of public or a migration agent; but all other evidence already submitted was certified by a teacher which was permitted. I have emailed the GSM twice but I haven't heard anything back. Does anyone else please have any advice or guidance that you can offer. A notary public is not only more expensive but also a complicated process as she woild need to contact the source of all documents to certify them (8 years worth of employment in 4 different jobs). We are 7 days into our 28 a day limit to submit so I am very anxious about trying to get this done ASAP. Many thanks

  8. Hello to all, My name is Ryan and i'm currently a third year Building services engineering student at Glasgow Caledonian University and next year i'm aiming to graduate with full honours degree in this discipline. My question really is can anyone share their experiences of the move from the UK to Australia as a graduate engineer, information i'm looking for: The Visa application: I still have to do more research on this topic but if anyone can give any pointers or information i should be looking for. The Graduate opportunities: what are the opportunities for graduates like in Australia in comparison to UK, my girlfriend is also a graduate in Public relations and Marketing so what would the opportunities be like for her as well Building services Engineering, Can anyone from this Industry background share their employability experience from looking online seems to be a lot of opportunities for this profession Any considerations I should make before a move to Australia? I Know this post is very vague but would like to hear from your experience before a move is on the cards, looking forward to hear from you all!! Many thanks Ryan.
  9. I don’t know much about these types of visas... So my Dad lives in Cairns, Queensland. He moved over on a marriage visa I think, his wife is Australian. I’m 24, my partner is 28 and my son is 1 and a half. Is there any way I could move my family and I over permanently as my dad is a permanent resident?

    186 Visa

A little help please. We're in the process of getting everything together for a 186 visa (found an employer in Aus). We're hoping to lodge our visa by Feb/ March the latest. Could you please let me know what documentation will be needed? Birth certificates etc. My husband was previously married around 15 years ago so will we need his decree absolute? And do the police checks need to be submitted at the time of lodging? What other documents do we need? Thank you for your help

    Which Visa is for me?

Hello. Found this site through Facebook. I’m just hoping for direction on what visa is best for me in my circumstances. Im single, 27, reside in the UK. At home I’m in the Public Sector working for an Emergency Service with a degree in policing. I’m fully aware this isn’t a skill or a career that could be brought across to Australia. Ive visited Perth, WA lots. I’m actually here at the moment. Half of my family live here, my Dad is a Australian Citizen but wasn’t when I was born (his dad was). He left when I was four, re married an Aussie and attained his citizenship via that method. He still lives in WA as do my half siblings, grandparents, aunties, uncles etc. I really want to move to Australia permanently. As for many it’ll be a massive move for me, selling my house, car, leaving work. I’d like to get into something with reasonable pay but from the research I’ve done in my circumstances I think the only present way I can get into Australia is on a restricted 12 month working visa? Obviously it’s a lot to give up purely for that 12 month working visa with no guarantee of being able to stay, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me or possible routes I could look down? Thanks for the help.
  12. Hi, I am only just starting to look into a skilled visa. I will be applying for a visa as a Fitter (General) Basically, I am currently a maintenance engineer with 5 years experience but my background is in the RAF, as an aircraft maintenance engineer (15 years experience) I would like to include my RAF experience in my application but I'm not sure how I get the relevant job statement from the RAF as I have been a veteran for 5 years. My question, has anyone got a job statement from the armed forces even though not serving any more? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Hi there, I applied for my Working Holiday (417) visa with a UK passport in October 2017. They sent me an email requesting a health check in early November 2017 and that was finalised on the 15th of Nov 2017. Since then I've heard nothing from the dept of Home Affairs, and when I call the European Service centre to ask about my application they say they can see no issue with it and there's no explanation for the long wait. The advertised processing time is 8-29 days online - so I'm concerned something has gone wrong with my application as it's been 2 and a half months since I heard anything from them? My status on ImmiAccount has been 'assessment in progress' for ages now and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or hints on how to get in touch with someone to find out what's happening? I was initially planning on going over to Aus early January and I'm getting more and more concerned as everyone I've spoken to has received their visa quite quickly. Any advice or ideas would be massively appreciated - I'm really not sure what the next course of action should be?
  14. Hi All, First timer here, so be kind... I'm a UK resident married to an Aussie Wife, we have been together for 9 years or so. Married for 2.5 Years. We have one 18month old little boy, with another one on the way. Due around July. The time has come, and we plan to head back to Aus in December. From what I can see, we will be able to get the kids Aus citizenship by descent, and this shouldn't cost too much, around £230 plus £95 for Additional newborn. I, on the other hand, will have to jump through the usual visa hoops and pay around 7k AUD. The waiting time appears to be around 11 months if applied in the UK and 22months in AUS. I'm interested in advice to see if there's a better way of doing things as if I apply here and don't get my passport or visa back in time for me to fly in December, then I might be better off flying out on a tourist visa, and then applying to stay as such. I would also be interested if anyone knows if there's a cheaper or better way of my doing things, as my wife and two kids i will all be citizens, will they still charge me 7k for the privilege, I thought a while back they use to do free or cheaper visa's if you had young children etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Fired without a reason by a sponsor

Hi there I'm posting for a relative who is still in shock. He was doing all his best in his work. his employer has been praising his dedicated work for the company. he's always been promised to be sponsored, untill the day he wasn't on the roster. He asked his employer if he'd been forgotten. The employer had a rassuring answer that they didn't have enough work for everyone and that the perment workers are the priority. But everything will be back on track as soon as possible. A week later, my relative received a sms where he's told he is no longer part in the company. He is in a state of shock, with noone to comfort him, as the family are miles away, in the other side of the planet. It's unfair and unhuman. I have been relieved to find your forum to seek some advices, as I'm clueless in the country's working does and donts. Is the employer's manner to sack people without even a face to face interview legal in Australia? Is there any other alternative for this? Thank you so much for your help

    Second year visa wait

Hey Everyone, I applied for my second year visa on the 19th of Dec and haven't heard anything. My boyfriend and I worked on the same farms for the same time and he got his visa approval back straight away. The only question we answered differently was that I had been outside of the UK for more than 6months. Is it because I out this that it is taking longer? We wanted to fly back out on the 23rd of Jan bit worried it will take ages as some people have said they are still waiting 2/3months later? My mum is flying out in the 4th of Feb so I hope I get it! Please help with any other similar stories or why you think it is taking so long? I am really stressing!
  17. I entered Australia on a Prospective Marriage visa in April 2017 and got married the following month. I then applied for a Partner visa. At the time the application was submitted, I attached the same statutory declarations that I used for the Prospective Marriage visa (from my mother-in-law and sister-in-law.) They are from April 2016. I have not yet provided any additional statutory declarations. So far, I have received one letter requesting further information (which was supplied) and my husband received another from the Sponsorship Assessment Unit. We supplied the information that they requested. However, on neither occasion did they ask for another statutory declaration. Looking back through the documents I have submitted, I am apprehensive that they may not accept the "old" statutory declarations even though they have not flagged this with us in the two instances they have been in contact. They didn't mention the fact our police checks were more than 12 months old either, but to err on the side of caution I ended up obtaining some new ones in November. Do you think we need to supply more statutory declarations, or should it be fine as is?

Moving to OZ as a Plumber

  19. Hi, I was wondering if you guys could help me out with figuring out how to proceed with my 801 permanent partner Visa? Any help would be hugely appreciated! It's been 3 years since I applied for my visa, and I have been requested for my partner to submit a stat dec. We've lived together for the vast majority of that time, but at the moment we are not. Will this negatively effect my visa? As i saw in the terms it states very clearly that you MUST live together at all times or something. But right now it makes more sense to take advantage of the opportunities given to us, to both help our wallets and our health. We were struggling with renting along with trying to sort out our health issues at the same time. My partner's mother eventually offered to have us move in with her so we did that. But my partner and his mum have ended up fighting all of the time which was making him really depressed, so in order for my partner to get better he moved out to his own rental nearby which is affordable but way too small for two people to live. Renting a bigger place that's nearby just isn't financially an option for us right now. My partner's mother, who I actually get along well with is now hosting me and helping me to get back on my feet and is covering things for me here like food and whatnot as I get myself sorted out. However she's stated that she's more than happy for me to stay as absolutely long as I like, so I'm taking advantage of her generosity and getting myself fully prepared to be able to go to TAFE once the visa is approved. And my partner is now much better that he's no longer having constant fights with his mother and is also able to work towards getting himself ready for working again and such also. I visit him often and drift between his place and mine, but we don't live together on a permanent basis anymore. I'm really worried now though that because now I'm not living with my partner permanently that it's going to screw up my visa. Is this going to end up being the case? Even though right now living apart makes more sense for both our wallets and our wellbeings? On the stat dec the only options as for our living arrangements are "live together, live separate on a permanent basis" but our arrangement will not be permanent. We plan on seeking a bigger rental together once we can do, but I've no idea how long away that will be yet. Once I can get Ausstudy it should help being able to afford a decent rental again. So I'm unsure what to choose or if me not living with him permanently is going to get my visa denied or something. If anyone could shed some light on this it would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.
  20. Hi My cousin is 18 years old and about to finish her high school in Belgium. She wants to migrate here in Australia. We would appreciate any advice regarding type of study/career which she can undertake to facilitate her migration. She would like to take a course in TAFE first. Any tip of which course/path she could follow to make her migration journey easy? Regards Zey

    Working offsite on 457 Visa

Hey guys, Not sure if anyone can shed any light on my situation. I'm currently sponsored as a recruitment consultant on a 457 visa. At the time my visa was lodged my employer wasn't (and still isn't) eligible to be a nominated sponsor. So instead I am sponsored by a 3rd party company and I work offsite with my actual employer - I hope this makes sense. As I have signed a full time permanent contract with both parties I was under the impression that I would be considered in the yes of immigration that I have been working in the same role I was sponsored as, and accrue the 2 years to make me eligible to apply for PR. I am about 21 months into this role so should be eligible to apply soon, but after checking with the 3rd party company that actually sponsors me - they think that I haven't accrued any time in the eyes of immigration to count towards a PR employer nominated application?? My actual employer where i work, seems to disagree and wants to help me get PR asap. I understand this is a little complex but if anyone can shed any light it would make me feel heaps better. I cant call immigration because they're not accepting incoming calls at this time - too many people calling about the visa changes I imagine. Thanks Duncan.

    New Passport

Hello, I renewed my passport a while ago, with my visa (subclass 100) having been granted almost 4 years back (plan is to move there in July '18). I'm off to Aus at Xmas so emailed the London office (15th Nov '17) to notify them of my change of passport. I filled out a form and scanned the bio pages of both relevant passports. The automated reply said only visas processed in London will be acted upon - no problem. It also said that details of the passport will only be updated in the passport was lost/stolen - I'm confused as surely a renewal counts due to level of recent travel I've had. They don't inform you to notify the update has happened. I fly in 3 weeks and am getting a bit edgy. Any ideas? I guess I'm hoping others have similar experience and can put my mind at ease? Thanks
  24. My partner and I are looking for some advice on the best way to apply for our PR visa as we are both skilled, can anyone recommend a good agent to use in Perth please? Thanks in advance.

Which Visa to apply for and how?

Hi All, I am currently a resident of the UK and have been going out with my girlfriend, who is from New Zealand for 6 months now. Her sponsorship in the UK will run out in October of next year and we're looking for a move to Brisbane, Australia. We've looked into partner Visas but we're not sure if she's eligible as a sponsor as she hasn't been living in Australia amongst other things. Can you help at all? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you Sam
