  3. hello everyone, i am new to this forum. I have a stupid question about vetassess assessment. I want to apply Architectural Draftsperson (ANZSCO Code 312111), I have many years work experience in this field but my degree is in IT. When vetassess says "If the qualification is not in a highly relevant field, " does it mean a qualification in any field(like IT, or education?), or it means a degree in a relevant field just not highly relevant? in my case, can I get a positive assessment from vetassess? thank you in advance~~

    CPA Negative assessment

HI All, I applied for Accountant category at CPAA but got a negative assessment. I have 2 years bachelors degree and a membership of Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA) but they are considering both my qualifications as equal to AQF Associate degree therefore I did not met the initial comparable criteria. However, now I intend to apply for internal auditor category at vetassess. But I fear that I will get the same assessment from them too. Any advices?? One more thing, do vetassess give positive assessment on CIA membership. Is CIA treated equal to AQF (Australian) Bachelor Degree? Awaiting your positive feedback and suggestion. KR, Eddy
  5. hi there just wondering if anybody can help me on this- i understand internal auditor is on the SOL and that vetassess do the skills assesment. having looked at the site- i see that they require an equivalent qualification to bachelor's degree. Can anbody tell me if a uk bachelors degree in law (LLB) and 5 years on the job traianing and work experience as internal auditor would fit the bill or if formal accounting qualifications are needed. If the work experience plus llb degree is sufficient then what documents does the employer need to produce to prove the work experience? Thanks guys!

  7. Hi all, I applied to vetassess (General Electrician) back in January hoping to get on the April assessment just gone. Unfortunately, due to numbers i am now on the july assessment. Vetassess Paper assessment has been Passed with approval to continue to the Practical. My story so far! Hope it helps... A lot of sparks are asking what evidence do we need to provide! Basically, everything you can lay your hands on. For me, i never did an formal apprenticeship. (Nightmare) I went to work as a sparkies mate 20 years ago and learnt on the job. During this period i undertook every aspects of electrical work. It was only when they introduced the new regs, Part P etc a few years ago that i decided to get off my ass and get my own Certs so i could continue to work legally, hence certifying my own work etc. Back to college aged 37 to get my 2351 Level 3 Electrical Engineering, 2381 16th Edition Regulations, EMTA Award Building regulations in Electrical Installations. Once i got these City and Guilds Quals (Took 2 years) i applied to NICEIC to be assess and successfully became a NICEIC approved Electrician. Finally, i took my Health & Safety Course (IOSH) which further gained accreditation with vetassess. Dont forget i was working for 20 years as a spark and knew more than the tutors in some cases. Because of this i had to prove that my training was back to front... 20 years experience and then the certs... It was a worry that vetassess would only assess me from the last couple of years owing to my late qualifications. Luckily, most of the companies i worked for provided awesome references and the fact that i had trade accounts covering years before. Some of the papers i provided included copies of my test certificatres, Invoices i sent to customers, Statements from subcontractors, CIS4 Stubbs for payments received, Full yearly accounts/tax returns from my accountant. Tools i bought, receipts, Statutory Declaration. Statement from customers... Suppliers, Employers. Copies of G&G certificates, even the colour of the wife knickers.. :biglaugh: Basically, anything you can get your hands on... The more info the better... But it has to be relevant to the trade... Please to say that it was worth it in the end because i passed the paper assessment! However, over that last 20 years i can honestly say that i never installed a DOL blinkin starter... Having seen them now there is nothing to them so not an issue... Im looking forward to the practical as im hoping this to be the easy bit.. At the end of the day its what us sparks to best.. Hands on! Hope it answers any questions, so you sparks with formal quals and apprentices it should be a doddle... You will need to test and inspect as this is taken serious on the practical and must have good knowledge of the readings from the tests. Additionally, the assessor does throw questions at you whilst testing.. If you are are not up to sctatch i would recommend the Inspection and testing book Guidence Note 3. This will get you up to speed on testing. Oh Yes! Vetassess give you a big tick if you are a member of a certifying body, NICEI, NAPIT etc, Also H&S is big bonus (IOSH) and additional training quals.(EMTA Building Regs). Hoped i helped.. Chris Mac
  8. Hi all I have been offered an equivalent job to mine (Sales Manager - Medical) in Oz with the company that I have been employed in for the last 8 Years. We are now at the early stages of Visa options. We have been given the visa option ENS Subclass 186. After reading into everything now that we have got past the giving me a job offer and what not we are about to start the sponsorship and visa stuff. On looking at the visa stuff I notice that I need to have a skills assessment from VETASSESS. On looking at all the information I have been given i.e. (ANZSCO 225412) it looks like I need a degree to be assessed. Now I don't have a degree. I have 12 years experience in the Medical Sales work and 8 years with my current company. How can they assess my skills i.e. Degree and what not when I don't have one ? Would my experience outweigh my need for a degree. and if so what would I be assessed on ? Or would I be exempt from the VETASSESS ??? Any information that can be provided would be fantastic. If someone has had a similar experience please share. Many Thanks in Advance
  9. Hi I am on a roller coaster ride of points-building for a general skilled migration visa (190) and would really appreciate some help/advice. I need 10 points from my skills assessment/employment experience, but will just get 5 based on VETASSESS only stating the minimum requirements for the nominated profession (149913 - Facilities Manager), which is 3 years. I need to prove I have more than 5 years, which I do have. I accept my mistaken assumption of the VETASSESS outcome, but am now in a difficult position. I believe I can easily prove the extra years as the letters supplied to VETASSESS all clearly state I have been in the same job for almost 8 years. However, do I need to get VETASSESS to provide 'points test advice' to verify the extra years I need or can I rely on my own proof as described above? I am fast approaching 45 (Sept 15) and time is running out for me to maintain sufficient points to qualify for the visa. I have also watched my nominated occupation drop through the 'availability' spectrum. It is currently on 'LOW'. If it goes any lower, all my eggs in the one basket will be done for! So, should I risk proving the extra proof myself and that the DIBP might say they need the VETASSESS approval for the extra 2 years? OR should I risk going back to VETASSESS and that the Nominated Occupation falls off the list? :wideeyed: Please help if you can. Thank you!

    Partner Skills

I'm looking for some advice on partner skills - does anybody know if in order to get the additional 5 points would my partner need to get a full skills assessment from VETASSESS (her occupation as an Environmental Health Officer is on the SOL) or is there a different process with her not being the main applicant? Thanks.
  12. Hi folks, Submitted Vetassess application on Nov 12th and received notification today: 1. Qualification award certificate / completion letter - Insufficient Reason: Not supplied Comment: These documents for your Bachelor and PhD degrees have not been supplied. If an award certificate cannot be obtained we require a letter of completion from the registrar's department of the awarding institution. This letter should clearly state the qualification name, program duration and details (eg: mode of study) and successful completion of qualification. I supplied official academic transcripts for both my Bachelor and PhD degree -For my bachelor this was a four page official academic transcript from the Uni registrar office. -For my PhD this was a letter from the registrars office stating my PhD start and finish date, location, thesis title, submission date, acceptance and award date. I can't understand what else they want. If I again contacted the registrars office from both Uni's they will send the exact same documents.
  13. Hi everyone! If anyone could help me with the following enquiry I'll be thankful!: Migratory agents have access to the Country Education Profile (CEP) of each country, where they can see to which category a university belongs and according to that, they can check wether a 4 or 5 year degree like a Bachelor for instance (in my case from Argentina), is equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree or Diploma. To have access, they pay an annual membership (I read it in another forum). For what I have been researching, also any individual (not an agent) could access to the CEP paying for an annual membership that allows to see the info of the country you are interested in. Have anyone used this service, and could tell me how does it work? E.g. In that year (membership), can you do several consults from several carrers? What information is shown when you consult? Also, I haven't fully understood the following: Is there a list of universities that are "recognised institutions" and if the case university is not recognised you could not apply for an assessment by any means? or, Does the fact of having a degree from a university that is not within the "recognised institutions" just imply that the degree could be considered as a lower degree (e.g A Bachelor being recognised as a Diploma in Australia)? Thank you for any help or comment that you could provide me . Regards, Pampa
  14. Hi everyone! I was wondering if any Cafe Manager out there has done skill assessments with Vetasses. I'm soon-to-be on a 457 visa but thinking ahead already. My occupation is not an easy one to get the PR so I'm gathering as much info as I can to see what I can do. I can wait 2 years to apply under the Temporary Residence Transition Stream (186) but things change quick here. As I don't want to take chances I would like to apply for the Direct Entry Stream (186) - and to do that I need my skills assessment done. I could also try the Skilled Nominated Visa (190) but it's only accepted in the Northern Territory or maybe in ACT (limited). Either way I need the bloody Vetasses assessing my skills. My question is what do I need to present to get a positive result... how many years of experience, documents and so forth. Any help is appreciated. Thanks =)
  15. Can anyone tell me when you applied Vetassess and when it was approved, please? It might give others an idea about the processing time..... You experience could help us a lot

    Visa after PhD

Hi Everyone, I browsed through the previous topics, but I couldn't find a similar thread. I am a PhD student and am expecting to finish my studies by the end of 2013. My visa (postgraduate research) is valid until 01/12/2014. My goal is to apply for a State Nominated Visa as a Victorian PhD graduate under occupation 234599 (Life Scientist). 1) Am I able to stay on my visa until it’s validity date, even after I graduate? If yes, can I undertake employment as well? I think the answer to this is yes, but I can't find it in writing anywhere. All answers I am able to find are about situations where your visa expires before you finish study, not the other way around. 2) If VETASSESS is evaluating my PhD, can I apply for assessment before I obtain the degree, or do I need to wait until I’ve finished it? 3) If the answer to the above is that I have to finish my PhD first and then evaluate it, what kind of bridge visa do I need to be on during VETASSESS’ evaluation time? I still would not have applied for PR, so I cannot be on a bridging visa. 4) My Bachelors degree is in the same field as my PhD and applicable for the same ANZCO code. If I evaluate it through VETASSESS (because I can do so without waiting to finish the PhD), do I still need to evaluate the PhD as well? Thanks! Nicola
  17. Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone have the similar situation and might help me out. I have a metallurgy and material engineer bachelor degree in my home country. Having work experience as a valuer, i would love to have master degree in valuation to know more about my profession as well as to push my luck about finding a valuation related job after my graduation. I need to work for a qualified valuer for 2 years working experience and after than i can apply to Api to gain registration, what i am confused about is vetassess skills assessment criteria which is: Qualification/s assessed at Australian Bachelor Degree or higher degree with a highly relevent field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevent employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years. Let's say that i worked for a qualified valuer for 2 years on 485 visa and then how i will be able to gain "at least one year of post-qualification highly relevent employment at an appropriate skill level completed" when 485 visa would have been expired(during 2 years), to get positive skill assessment from vetassess and then claim for points Master degree for skilled migration? Any expert advice would also be appreciated!
  18. Hi, After 9 months of planning our visa application by sifting through the huge amounts of information I finally decided to take the plunge and start the process to move to perth. I wish to thank the users of this forum for all the advice that I have gained from pomzinoz. I am a plumber applying for a 189 visa, we visited Australia for 18 months on a whv, drove around the whole country and due to no television in the campervan..... 2 became three! Therefore my partner wanted to come back to the uk to be with family for the birth..... but now wants to return! I have a question.......I have sent vetassess all my paperwork to be assessed however a requirement of the assessment is now that you must have a first aid certificate. Has any plumbers on this site had to supply a first aid certificate as part of their assessment.... If so which establishment did you take the course and how many days did it take you to complete? There is a big difference in price! I have asked vetassess for clarity on this matter and had a reply stating that the course can be completed in one day and also three days depending on your location in the uk, however I cannot find a course that specifically covers all the syllabus anyway! My second question is will vetassess complete all the other paperwork without the first aid certificate or just put to the bottom of the pile?! I do not want to book a first aid course that is just going to be waste of time and money for vetassess to reject.... many thanks in advice if anyone can help! This is the criteria.... IMPORTANT NOTICE An applicant who is applying for a Plumbing Skills Assessment is required to provide a First Aid certificate as part of the assessment. The course must have the following contents: • CPR, injuries from head to toe, wounds and bleeding, burns, poisons, bites and stings, medical emergencies, chest pain, asthma, anaphylaxis, choking, shock, stroke, seizures, fainting and diabetes. Without this certificate, the assessment will not be complete.
  19. Hi, Hope someone can help me on this. I am applying to have my skills and employment assessed by VETASSESS as a Multimedia Designer (ANZSCO code 232413) and I'm not clear what option I should choose to relate too. I am currently applying for a 457 Temporary work visa as its only on the consolidated skills list currently and need a sponsor however it may change in the future and be avaiable for Regional/State sponsorship or even General Skilled Migration. If I choose one option now does it mean I can only apply for that visa? E.g. If i choose 457 and apply and its approved and then my occupation is moved onto the list for General Migration would I not be able to apply for it as I have stated that I am applying for 457? Any help/advice much appreciated. Cheers Dan
  20. Hi I have just submitted the paper part of my vetassess assessment for the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning ASCO Number 4312-11 and as I understand it if I am successful in this part I will be asked to do a day’s assessment somewhere in the U.K. I would like to know if anyone has been on this assessment day and what the day involved. How many people take the assessment in one day? How is the assessment done? What tests where you asked to do on what type of equipment? How long the assessment takes is there an exam and did you have to take your own tools? Or where tolls provided? I have had a look on this forum and have found a page that talks about the assessment but it is missing a good break down of what you are expected to do on the day I would appreciate some knowledge of the assessment before I turn up on the day thanks Rick
  21. Hey guys! I am from Bangladesh, applying for 190. Just started my processing with the help of an agent. Haven't got my VETASSESS outcome! I would like to know the experiences of other Bangladeshi applicant's. If you could, then please share your experiences.

    Advertising Specialist

Hi I am planning to apply for Advertising Specialist for ACT (190). I am considering the chance of being granted this visa. I would be very much appreciated to hear some of your thoughts/experience. 1. Did you receive the ACT sponsorship for Advertising Specialist at the end?/ Who has been successful in getting a visa via this route? 2. When you apply for skill assessment, did you use agent? If yes, do you have anyone to recommend? If not, do you mind sharing your experience? 3. Do you mind if I ask about your background for those who are successful in Advertising Specialist skill assessment ? I was a strategic planner at an advertising agency before but not sure if my experience can fit into advertising specialist nomination. 4. How did you find the job ad on advertising? I face the same problem in finding them as well. Thank you very much. Pear
  23. Hi All It is my understanding that under the skills select visa system for a 190 that actual work experience is not required, am I correct in assuming this? If you have a qualification from a Uni that is directly related to a category on the SOL and as long as you get the correct number of points for a EOI should this do? Some one I know has submitted their docs to VETASSESS to have the skills assessment completed but VETASSESS are asking for CV info and info related to the last 5 years of work. I understand that one can get points for years of work completed in the field post completion of qualification but has anyone had a positive skills assessment from VETASSESS directly after completing the qualification? Thanks i advance for any help
  24. Hi everyone Is there anyone out there who has recently successfully completed their electrical practical vetassess exam. I have mine at Blackburn College in two weeks time. I've been reading up and trying to revise but it's difficult to know exactly what they are looking for especially around DOL starters. Also, I haven't been informed by Vetassess that I need to take my own tools but I've read on some of the threads that you do need them with you. Any help or advice would be really appreciated. Many thanks. Greg :arghh:
