  1. Hi all, I am currently trying to send my evidence and documents over to vetassess for the first part of my skill select. I currently have the evidence set up in a PowerPoint presentation... Is this the way any of you would recommend or is there another way someone could suggest??? is the uploading prices of the documents and evidence simple?? Thanks in advance.
  2. I have a qualification as Civil Engineer Technician from 2000. I worked in this field in 2001 for 6 months, then changed career and got a bachelor degree in 2005. From 2004 to 2016 I worked most of the time in business related subjects (only one year - 2010 - in construction) and from 2017 (one year so far) again as Civil Engineer Technician. Going by what I found in VETASSESS documents, Civil Engineer Technician is in group C, so "Qualification(s) assessed at least AQF Diploma level with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years". So it seems that I can be assessed positively. But I am not sure how VETASSESS will see this period of 16 years in a different field. Is it possible that they will disregard my degree? If anyone has seen some similar case, please comment. Thanks.

    Mechanical engineer

Hello everyone, Did anyone in the group get an assessment done through engineers Australia recently. I work as a safety engineer and graduated as a mechanical engineer. My first assessment with vetassess came back negative, as I did not have any OH&S certification. Thanks
  4. Hi All Is it possilbe to pass a carpenter vetassess on experience alone? A little background: My brother is 41 and has worked as a carpentry for 20 years, though he has no formal qualification, he did complete a 4 year apprenticeship but struggles with ADHD and was unable to pass the final written exams. Cheers
  5. I am Mahmud from Bangladesh. I have been working in a company since 15 May.2012. I want to assess my qualifications and professional experience from Vetassess. but when I am collecting documents such as job statement from My company they strictly inform that they are unable to give such documents. they only give me my job descriptions which includes my task and duties in general word and very short descriptions. In this situations how can I get statutory declaration or affidavit with my appointment letter, job descriptions and letter of introduction from accounts and finance department? is statutory declaration made from Notary public from my country(Bangladesh) or Australian Embassy situated in Bangladesh. I seek kind information from experts.
  6. Hello everyone i am currently in the proccess of applying for skilled visa (189/ 190- depending on IELTS score) i am an installer of Home audio video (home theatre systems) and smart homes for the past 12 years - my immigration agent told me that since i do not have a certificate that is recognized by australian government i need to have a skills assessment interview at the UK before applying for the visa. my question is: As i can understand - electronic equipment trades consist of a variety of proffesions such as alarm techniciens / electronic repair techniciens and computer techniciens. which are quiet different from my daily job. in this assessment interview will i be asked about my specific field of expertise or should i take a course to master also in-depth testing of electronic circuits or other computer assembly etc. Also can i find online any list of topics or interview examples that i can refer to prior to booking my own interview? Thank you for your time your advice will be much apreciated Nathaniel

    Vetassess Electrical Test

Hello all, First post on here regarding the Vetassess Electrical Test. I've just had word that I passed The day is split into 4 parts, here's a run down of what I had to do.. Part 1: Basic Wiring. You have to fit a DB on a pylwood board, there's a single socket to wire under it using conduit. You then have to fit a couple of pipe clips for the small cutting of copper pipe to replicate the main service bonding. There's a couple of 1G2W switches to wire and a light, these are all on a layout diagram just follow the dimensions given. You have to do an R2 and IR test on the installation so know that R2 max is 0.5ohms and IR is 1Mohm minimum. It's really straight forward. Part 2: Motors. You have to start by drawing either a Star or Delta winding symbol in your workbook then there's a picture of motor connections and you have to draw how you would connect up the other way (I drew a Delta winding then drew the Star connection, it'll be clear to you on the day trust me). You're then asked to draw a motor control circuit ie L1 to Stop/Start unit, through the holding contact etc etc so swat up on how to do this, it's easy enough. Once you've drawn out all this you then have to connect up the control circuit. All the components are fitted on a white board with the terminals extended to female terminals and you get male leads to plug in, again this will become clear on the day. The assessor then asks you to take a walk and puts a fault in the circuit, my Stop/Start unit was bypassed so Stop Button done nothing, he just asked to rectify the fault. Part 3: Safe Isolation/Disconnect. This was the part I was dreading the most as the Vetassess guide is not the best. On the day our assessor said don't worry about the proceedure too much just show me you can do your job safely. It was a tubular heater that had given someone a shock. I tested the casing for live (you get a 'know power source' to prove from), tested the circuit for live (there is a switched fuse spur which has a conduit through box coming from it, this is where you do all your testing from), informed him I was going to isolate/lock off etc, he then says the heater has been replaced. I then proved the circuit was still isolated, carried out an R2/IR test on the heater (same values as Part 1), connected the heater and deisolated. Remember to prove your deadline tester before and after! Part 4: Question Paper. This was a pain in the arse as some of the questions were a nightmare ie What kind of motor is used in a refrigerator??? It's a multiple choice paper that's split into 6 parts and you only need 3 out of 4 in each section. Once you've finished your assessor will mark it and tick the correct answers and ask you to have a look at any wrong ones. My advice would be don't overthink this before the day as I was really worried about the isolation etc but it's really straight forward. They're looking for boys that don't have a clue so just keep calm and follow your workbook and you'll be fine. Any questions just ask, all the best.
  8. Hello All Just wondering if anyone here has ever used the VETASSESS occupation consultation service and whether the found it worth the money? I've been looking for an occupation to apply for a 189 visa, without boring everyone to death on my life story, I have a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering and work as an in house civil engineer for a house builder. The full design work is carried out by consultants but someone has to be here to appoint a consultant, outline what we want, check their designs, take them through the construction process solving all the little issues that inevitable come up. It also involves a lot of other things like getting quotes and designs for new services/making agreements with local authorities/NHBC conditions/Tree officers, all sorts really, but it's not something really straightforward to define like being a maths teacher for example. I had been thinking of applying under "Civil Engineering Technician 312212" As I'm sure I've got a highly relevant qualification, the job description information I've been able to find is pretty brief and a bit confusing, I've been thinking about using the Vetassess consultation service to try to find out what exactly they're looking for under that description and if I'd be able to make a convincing argument for myself, but it's more than 200 dollars for a 30 minute phone chat, Babestation doesn't charge those kind of rates, I was hoping there's someone out there who could advise me if it's a service that'd help me out or just money down the drain? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
  9. Hi wondering if anyone can help. Submitted paper assessment, which have received a level 1 for, does anyone know if you paid the extra $250 for the Letter of advice for points test, when you get this? Just worried as we need the points for 8 years overseas employment in the nominated trade, but on the assessment letter they state over 5 years, so really need the points test letter to verify we are going to get the points for 8 years plus. Does anyone know, as when I've rang them they have said they don't give this letter until the practical test has been undertaken, but my point is I feel this is stupid as doing an 1 day practical test isn't going to prove years in service, only the paper based assessment is going to prove this point. Incidentally the lady I spoke to was asian and I wasn't convinced she knew what I was talking about or even understood me!! She took 10 mins trying to find someone and then said they would e-mail me back to give me an answer, but not recived anything yet. Any input would be great if anyone has come across this. Thanks

    Required Qualification Point

Dear All, Finally , I got my vetassess positive Assessment after a review for my employment , this was highly stressful to me , I'am 31 Egyptian female , I will apply for visa 489 South Australia - Invited Pathway Right now I'am preparing for my PTE Exam , I need your help because I keep questioning my Points I need 80 points including the 10 points of applying under a visa for regional areas and my qualification is not highly related , vetassess said that Bachelor of Literature awarded in 2006 by Assiut University, Egypt is assessed as comparable to the educational level of an AQF Bachelor degree and is therefore at the required level. Field of study Literature is not highly relevant and they accredited me with 8 years as a work experience in their point test so , Does it means that DIBP will take away some of these years for a non- highly relevant education in their point test I need an answer Please , thanks in advance

    VETASSESS

Hello, At present my application is being reviewed by VETASSESS, I applied for priority screening to speed up the process because if my age factor. Now my question is, the other day I received a call from VETASSESS and was told that it was an assessment call, all we managed to do was a formal introduction and before the assessment could begin the call dropped off and I did not receive a call again. Will this have an impact on my application or process time? Thank you.

The candidate guide doesn't give a lot of detail about what to expect from the exam..........has anyone sat the practical GE exam? We'd REALLY appreciate some info from anyone who completed the practical in February or last October so we know what to expect? Thanks very much, Morris'

  16. Hi All, I am a Technical Writer with around 10 years of experience. I am planning to apply for Visa 190 My occupation is listed in Group B - with ANZSCO code as 212415. Hence, I fall into the ENSOL State /Territory Sponsorship category. As I understand, my first step should be to get the Skill Assessment done from VETASSESS. Please correct me if I am wrong. (I am currently filling out the VETASSESS Skill Assessment form). Has anyone been able to apply successfully through this process, and what have you submitted as part of your project report. Any help on this matter, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks PY
  17. I have two questions regarding skills. 1) Is education (time spent on university) considered as experience for skill assessment (maybe partially)? To be specific my assessing authority is Engineers Australia. 2) To get additional points for my partner's skills, her skills must be assessed as well. What happenes if she has only Master's degree and no post-graduate experience, is she still eligible and will I get points? (VETASSES) Thanks in advance for help!
  18. Hi, I have been living and working in Australia since February 2015. I have, however, been with my current employer since October 2016. My employers would like to sponsor me for PR, but since I have not been with them for 2 years, I require a skills assessment with Vetassess. I have 12 years experience in my role, however I am not degree qualified. I have contacted a company called Get Qualified, and they said my experience can be transitioned/recognised as comparable to a Graduate Diploma - http://qualifyme.edu.au/qualifications/graduate-diploma-of-management-learning/ . This qualification is nationally recognised. This is actually higher than a Bachelor Degree (Undergraduate program). On Vetassess website, it says that in order to get a positive skills assessment, I require a qualification comparable or higher than a Bachelor Degree for my chosen occupation. So, in theory, if I get this qualification, would that be sufficient for a positive assessment?
  19. Vetassess does not assesses job less than 6 months does DIAC accept this? If I don't show any information about 5 months job done earlier could it be shown later in final application in DIAC. Does this mis match in two different organization from a same person create any processing problem???? that jobs added to fetch 3 yrs requirement plz give this info ASAP and help to take decision what to do
  20. I got negative assessment for being my tasks are not highly relevant with the occupation applied for; Financial Investment Adviser (222311). My manager intentionally did gave them an opinion which knocked me off Just applied for a review of that decision! anyone did this before? Do they turn their decision??
  21. I am not sure if this announcement has been brought to the attention of this forum. If yes, please disregard it. Details can be found here: http://www.vetassess.com.au/Portals/0/Downloads/qualification_assessment/VETASSESS-update-on-application-processes-for-skills-assessments-for-general-professional-occupations.pdf?vid=100 In summary: - VETASSESS will always conduct an assessment of the highest qualification level - introduction of the “date deemed skilled” based on qualification and employment evidence provided - revised fee structure http://www.vetassess.com.au/Portals/0/Downloads/qualification_assessment/Revised-Fee-Structure-2015.pdf?vid=100 The most significant change is the introduction of the date deemed skilled which is the date that an applicant is considered skilled in their nominated occupation and therefore eligible for claiming employment points from that date and not earlier. This date, generally, will be calculated as the date when an applicant obtained the required qualification plus 1 year. This might cause more pain for onshore applicants (overseas students) who obtained their qualifications in Australia and need one year of highly related work experience - they will not be able to use this year of work experience for the points test purposes. If they need some extra points, they will need additional year of work experience and might be running out of time if they are on 485 visas.
  22. Can anyone help? We're about to get my husbands skills assessed as a Construction Project Manager. He can evidence this role since April 2007 to present. He also has a degree in Construction Management awarded June 2010 and a HNC in Construction awarded July 2007. As we were completing the form online, this paragraph came up - "This occupation requires a qualification which is assessed as comparable to the educational level of an Australian Bachelor degree or higher degree, in a highly relevant field of study to the nominated occupation. In addition to this, applicants must have at least one year of post-qualification employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years in a field closely related to the nominated occupation. If employment is not post-qualification, then five additional years of closely related employment are required. If the degree is not in a highly relevant field of study, three years of employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years in a field closely related to the nominated occupation is required. This is reduced to two years if there is an additional qualification at least at AQF Diploma level in a highly relevant field. A positive assessment of both qualifications and employment is required for a positive Skills Assessment Outcome. If the qualification(s) is not at the required educational level, employment will be assessed below the required skill level." As he only qualified with his degree in June last year, he obviously doesn't have the 'one year post qualification employment'. Although he's been in the role for 4 years and holds a HNC. Anyone know if this looks like a problem? Thanks
  23. Hi all, I am due to undertake my skype technical interview this coming Tuesday (08/01/13) in manchester and am just wondering if there is anyone who has recently completed theirs and if so want to know what advice would they give me? After opting for the technical interview rather than the practical because of the large waiting time and distance to be travelled to available practical dates/destinations, I am a little uneasy as to how they can assess your skills over a skype telephone/video call. Are there any particular areas that they specifically quiz you about, that i could perhaps do some last minute 'swotting up' on? My agent tells me that with my quals/varied work experience in the trade i should be fine, but better safe than sorry. Any help will be greatly appreciated............ Cheers

    Vetassess??

I am just about to pass my masters in marketing and am looking for state sponsorship under the Public Relations Professional... I am told I will have to get my qualifications assessed by Vetassess but worried about what this includes?? Any advice is very welcome! Also, with 9 years experience, do you think states will sponsor me before I have officially passed my masters (got month left)? Want to go to SA nor WA and both have sponsorships available now for PR specialists - and would like to get everything in before July1st, cos I think that will change everything. Thanks all, much appreciated x x x:v_SPIN:

    Vetassess Processing Times 2014

Hi Everyone, I'm new to this, very good site! I recently (the last couple of days) have uploaded and sent off my Vetassess application. I am a Construction Project Manager. I hold a Masters, a Degree and a Diploma in Construction Project Management and I have 4 years Australian Experience as a Construction Project Manager. In Essence, I am by all means a Construction Project Manager. I have uploaded about 25 documents proving employment and all of my Educational Qualifications and results I am reading very nervous posts from last year stating 12-16 weeks process for Vetassess. My visa is up in April 22nd so obviously I need a quick turnaround on my Application. I have posted them a Urgency request form but I'm not too sure if this form is just kinda stapled to some page and left on someones desk for 3-4 months or if they actually hurry the process up. I rang them to confirm that payment has been made and when I check my Vetassess application online it says lodged but please wait 2-3 weeks for documents to be received. I understand they had a backlog before christmas but I am informed that they have no migrated their entire system to digital to quicken up the process. Anyone have any experience lately with them or any issues with them. I'm so baffled by the posts on here for 12-16 weeks process, it's not rocket science. Your help would be greatly appreciated folks! Many Thanks, Colly
