    VETASSESS - Electricians

Hi All, I've just read a thread on here which states that a full work history has to be supplied before the practical test is completed. Someone stated that their's was 30 pages long...:arghh::arghh: I really wouldn't know where to start with this and any help is appreciated.
  2. My husband is a plumber/gasfitter and is just starting out the process for 175. I've seen on other threads that its easier to go down the 'gasfitter' route as its quicker and cheaper than doing the 'plumber' route. I've just noticed on the Vetassess website that gasfitter isnt listed as the nominated occupation list and when Ive gone onto the Australia.immi website the gasfitter and plumber are under the same number on the SOL. All v.confusing. It looks as though you cannot apply for gasfitter it has to be plumber. Correct me if Im wrong??
  3. Hi All, My OH has been, over the last few weeks completing the Competency groups for a Joiner (ANZSCO: 331213) on a GSM 175 Visa. :arghh: He has logged in today to finish the application and it has all changed. He is unable to find all of the work he has completed so far and we have had to submit and pay $600 for stage 2 without this information. I have a few questions if anyone can help? 1. Has anyone had the same problems with Vetassess changing? 2. Does anyone know if this is correct as we have submitted it today but are now worried it's not correct? Thanks

    VETASSESS - Electrical Trades

Hello all, We are about to begin the process of going through the trade skills tests. Can anyone tell me how long it takes from 1st logging your paper based assessment to receiving your techincal/practical assessment and when are payments due for each? I was wondering whether it would give us enough time to save up for the 2nd part after the paper assessment was completed. Really want to start the process as soon as possible but we do need to begin saving for it all and I was hoping we could get the 1st part done and then save for the 2nd part and so on. I'm assuming that once you have been assessed that it doesn't have an expiry date on it so we could apply for the visa in say another 9-12 months. Anyone's advice is appreciated. Thanks Lisa In a very wet manchester
  5. I have all materials ready to submit my VETASSESS application, but I need another month before I can claim the 5 points for having three years of overseas work experience-apparently my work history only counts 2 years and 11 months-so do I submit my application to VETASSESS now? I suspect that by the time they start evaluating my application, I would have reached three years of employment. I have state sponsorship application on hold and needs the assessment result asap. What should I do? Thanks!
  6. Hi Guy's, If you are reading this the chances are, you have either done the practical or waiting to go and do it. Got some questions if you can help: Do you have to wear overalls? Do you take all tools on the list given? If you are going to London on the 22nd so am i, See you there!! Can you share information that may help me. Should i be concerned about welding Getting anxious now as the days draw closer for my practical, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. For you guy's who have done the practical, hope you all pass!!!! Cheers Andy
  7. I got positive skills assessment from Vetassess but have one question and would appreciate if someone can help me: Vetassess only mentioned my 2.5 years experience on my assessment. This experience is with current employer. But they did not mention anything about my 1 year expereince with past employer in same occupation, and another 5 years experience with a different employer. My question is whether this is normal for vetasses to do this and consider the minimum experience required for assessment? How DIAC will determine my expereince if I calim 5 points for 3 years professional experience out of last 4 years? Cheers

    Vetassess re-issue of certificate

Hi all, I successfully got my WA state-sponsorship issued in January, all hunky-doory... but, after passing the vetassess skills test in carpentry back in 2008 and recieving my level 3 certificate in carpentry, I sent the original certificate to the immigration department instead of a certified copy. I contacted Vetassess who were very helpfull and said the certificate was issued by Victoria university and put in contact with someone there. Since then, I'm having a complete nightmare trying to get a re-issue of certificate. I recently sent the A05r form for re-issue of certificate which one person there told me to do, but now someone else has come back and said I need to graduate in October to get a re-issue!!??... I then called again and spoke to someone else who has now said I need to do something else completely differant.... The university can see I was issued the certificate on their system, and understand how I recieved the certificate through vetassess, but cant seem to get me a re-issue... Really want another certificate for job-interviews etc for when i get to oz, and also I'm applying for a permantent visa to canada, so they will proberbly want to see it too.... just wondered if anyone has had any similar problems getting a re-issue from Victoria uni??? Please help!!:arghh:

    Music Teacher Assessment

Hi. I'm looking for some advice according the vatassess as a music teacher. I hold bachelor of music and master degree in music. I give private cello lessons to few students, but I've never register that as a business. I have never been teaching at school. I would be greatful for any advice or a contact to the migration agent who could help in this subject, as I have already sent a few questions to the agents and still have no answer . thx:biggrin: monika
  10. hi, I have got 10 years experience of working as a youth/community worker with young homeless adults within the community. My qualification at the moment is a NVQ 3 at AQF Diploma. I have recently been promoted to a Manager and will be completing my Professional Development Award ( Leadership and Management of Care Services). This award is an NVQ 4 at AQF Graduate Diploma. I believe that ANZSCO explain that to be employed as a youth/community worker, you require an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2). My questions are 1, Does anyone know if this is how Vetassess will assess this? 2, What are my best Visa option, if any? The following table outlines equivalences between AQF levels in Australia and NVQ in the United Kingdom. Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF U.K. Qualification Level (NVQ & GNVQ) Certificate I Certificate II NVQ 1/GNVQ Foundation Certificate III NVQ 2/GNVQ Intermediate Certificate IV Diploma NVQ 3/Higher National Cerificate Advanced Diploma NVQ 4/Higher National Diploma Bachelor Degree Equivalent Graduate Certificate Equivalent Graduate Diploma NVQ 4 Masters Degree Equivalent Doctoral Degree Equivalent For trades and similar occupations, you need a qualification at the standard of (minimum) a Aus advanced diploma (NVQ 4 level) PLUS an apprenticeship For professional occupations, you need at least a Bachelor degree level qualification. Any information would be really appreciated thanks
  11. I have a question about VETASSESS assessment of skills for Food Technologist. Is there anywhere I can find what subjects I should have done to be named as "Food Technologist" (under Chemist - 234211). I was looking at their official site and there is nothing said about Food Tech. Also I'm wondering what is the cost of assessment if you are overseas - on the website there are only information for domestic costs (as far as I know). Does anybody have any experiances with this? Thanks
  12. Hi my OH is currently waiting to do a technical or practical interview for a 1st class welder through vetassess, so far the dates are the 21st and 22nd of may (the dates are not confirmed though) but we are on a deadline to put our visa 176 application in by july the 1st. How long has it taken anyone to get their success letter and certificate through after passing? just wondering what kind of time frame we are on for it as the time frames vetassess give us are not very accurate.

    Vetassess Plumbing Practical

Hello All I'm curious as to what the day involves for plumbing practical as im booked in for june. Anyone done the last one and like to give an insight as to what the day holds? I and maybe a few others booked for june would very much appreciate it. have read a great post by Wingywangwoo that covers it very well and have linked it as that should help others to. Im just wondering has it changed much since then? anyway All The Best Kev http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/news-gossip-chat/55106-plumbing-vetasses-saga-day.html
  16. Hi all Can any of you wonderful, clever lot help me, PPPPLLLLLLLLLLEEEEAAAAAAASSSEEEE.. My o/h is a general Electrician, so we was going to go down the 176 PR route, so he passed his tradeset, then applied to Vetassess online, then we started to fill in all the paperwork etc, then in the interrim a job offer came along offering us a 457 visa, so we contacted Vetassess & they said that it wasnt a problem, we had to download the 457 visa application form instead & get it all filled in & sent off to them, which we have done. We have now had an email from Vetassess saying that "As you have indicated it is the 457 visa you wish to apply for we unfortunately do not have United Kingdom as a nominated country which VETASSESS conduct skills assessments for via 457 visa" "You will have to contact the Department of Immigration (DIAC) www.immi.gov.au and they will be able to assist you as you may not even need to complete a skills assessment and apply directly to them as you a from the UK." The problem is we would like to obviously gain the PR & being an electrician he needs to have his skills assessed, to gain an A grade liecense etc, so how do we overcome this problem? The employers are only willing to sponsor us on a 457 for the time being as its a quicker route for them etc.... I hope any of this makes sence? pulling our hair out here :arghh::confused::twitcy: many many thanks in advance
  17. Can anyone kindly tell me who now carries out the skills assessments for General Electricians please. We have sent all info off to Vetassess, filling in the correct details for a 457 & now they have emailed us saying that they no longer carry out the assessments for General Electricians on a 457 visa. I dont know if they have recently changed, but we are unable to find out who assesses a 457 visa for general electricians from the UK?????:arghh: Many thanks
  18. Hi, My other half has a practical test for carpentary booked for Saturday and is really stressed about it. I think the added presure of giving up smoking and redundances at work is starting to take its toll. He has been a carpenter for 10 years now and I keep trying to reasure him everything will be fine, but if someone could give us an idea of what happens it might set his mind at ease. In our information nothing was writen about taking tools but I found a 'candidate kit' for 2008 and there was a list of tools to take. Should we go by this and take these just in case.
  19. Hi, I am wondering if any of the other bricklayers who were in London with me to do there practical assessment on April 11th have heard anything officially as yet? I have logged into VETASSESS which shows i was successful on the practical but have no evidence to send to WA until they officially send me something by email or post!!! Time is running out for us guys and am hoping i simply have not been skipped in some kind of clerical error!!
  20. Hi My darling o/h is struggling with his Vetassess Competency profile, he is ending up with pages & pages & pages of info that he is writing up, is this correct? he is finding they ask you a question, to which he has to include this that & the other & he is finding it very daunting. I keep telling him to make it brief, but then if he does he isnt getting to answer some of the questions? Anyone got a copy of their passed profile they want chuck our way, or at least give us some pointers with PLEASE :arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh: One other question is he has been with his current employers for 6 months now, his previous employer didnt pay out standing wages etc & it almost got to court but thankfully didnt proceed that far, so obviously we have to give this previous employers details & how long o/h worked for him etc, are Vetassess likely to contact him, as we wont be able to get a ref from him? so are they going to either contact him & be told a load of bull (like he did to my o/h new employers) or will it be deemed that o/h has no work history & is full of bull poop? Huge thanks in advance, didnt realise this part was soooo stressful, let alone the practical test, if we get that far!!! :twitcy::sad::cry:

    VETASSESS response times

Was talking to my agent this morning with regard to my skills assessment. I have been waiting 9 weeks now and time is getting on before 1st July changes and he informed me that the response time is now 12 - 14 weeks and no longer the 8 - 10 weeks that he originally told me. Anyone able to confirm this?

    Vetassess skills assessment time lines

hi I wondered if there was any difference between length of time the different types of skills assessments were taking at VETASSESS. Would it be useful to start a list with people if they are willing posting what skill group they were assessed under and for what occupation and how long it took?
