  3. hi all i am currently completing a degree in English and then need to take my PGCE to become a teacher possibly in English though i might go down the primary route(still undecided). i was planning on moving to oz oct 2010 and doing my teacher training there. hubby isgoing to be main applicatant as he works in IT. i'm now wondering whether to do my training here, so its done or to do it in oz anyway does anyone know what happens when being assessed i have heard you have to do extra courses anyway to be a qualified oz teacher. is this correct? how long does it take to complete the courses and do you think i would be better off doing the whole thing in oz anyway? thanks i've been round the houses with this one! i really don't know what to do for the best. i want to get to oz asap but we are only at work assesment stage anyway and it looks like we are on the longest waiting list as it doesn't look like we will be getting the MODL points. Emma

    Re training - hairdresser

Hi Guys My OH thinks I am going through a mis life crisis! I currently work for a clothing importer and have a very high position but in the current climate my MD has decided to close the business. Due to the clothing industry being a bit risky at the moent I have decided to re train as a Hairdresser! We already have our Visas and the only reason we have not emigrated yet is because we havnt sold the house. We still have just short of 4yrs on the visa so in theory there is time to retrain. Any thoughts? Ness x

  7. Hi. I am a qualified primary school teacher with a specialism in Early Years education and am told I could get a job very easily in New Zealand. Is this true? Also my husband is a general builder with a carpentry qualification but wants to train as a plumber. Does anybody know whether or not this would be easy for him to do in New Zealand? We are both 27 with 3 small children and are looking for a better quality of life and are hoping NZ could offer us this. Any advice anyone could give us we would be really grateful. We are looking at moving to South Island, paticularly Tiramu area - Again any advice on this?????? Thank you.

I'm just wondering how much it will cost him to do a post grad over there to become a music teacher, or if indeed as an international he can. please help! ps he doesnt have a visa, but has a degree and is under 25....... im trying to get him to come over so need to present the arguement!

  10. Hi, We are currently looking into employment opportunities for my OH in Oz. I have a job to go to and he is looking to retrain while out there. Does anyone have any knowledge of the route into HGV training/cost and potential earnings when trained etc in Australia? We will be based in Perth so presumably he would get some work if he retrained? We have heard it is relatively cheap to do the HGV in Oz? Any info at all appreciated, thanks Fiona and Pete
  11. Hi everybody, this is the first time I've dared to post anything on the site, but I'm just seeing if anyone can help me! I'm a 20 year old student at the moment in the UK, and hope to go on to teacher training after I graduate in July. However, my family are emigrating to Adelaide in March and I've been wondering about doing teacher training in Oz rather than staying here all on my lonesome.... I just need to know basically if this is at all possible, and what the official term for the course would be (I could do with an Australian equivalent to the gttr website which advertises teacher training courses over here) I would also be interested in anyones opinion on my situation, I mean would it be better to qualify as a teacher over here first? In the long run is it better for me to be trained to UK standards, for example incase I decided Oz isn't for me afterall...?? I am grateful to anyone who can help with this situation, as I'm very confused about it all!! :GEEK:

    MYOB Training?

I read on here that it can be hard to gain employment in admin fields without experience and qualifications in using the MYOB system. I was wondering if anyone has completed the on line training course and successfully gained employment? Also, does anyone think that this is worth doing? I know it obviously cant hurt but I don’t want to spend $£$£ if its not worth while. Many thanks Emma

  19. Hi This is linked to a previous thread and conscious that header "needing sponsorship", was confusing and got lots of hits, most probably because people thought I was able to answer a question about sponsorship or could assist, oops!! My wife is looking for sponsorship as training officer, we have been given green light by **************** to go for it, but have difficulty in knowing best place to canvas for this. Does anyone have any contacts who are looking for a training officer. Ideally Queensland but flexible if it means we get there quicker!! as it only has to be for 2 years and then we can move. We have registered on affiliated recruitment sites such as Kelly Services etc but all say "must have residency" but we can't get this without sponsorship, chicken and Egg syndrome so any help would be gratefully received. Andy and Sue Plymouth
  20. sat here in work bored, bored, bored so thinking up business ideas for us PIO's. Reckon we could start a training school in how to drive around a roundabout correctly, as it seems the Aussie's just don't know how to do it properly!!!! My powers of reading people's minds has increased greatly since being here as you have to guess the turn and sometimes they actually indicate but then drive straight at you as they mean the turning after where you are sat waiting!!!! Frightening things these roundabout things, maybe they are a new invention down here sure seems like sometimes and we live in a town of roundabouts and they are building a big one on our estate so that should be fun every morning lol :mask:
