  3. Hi All, This is my first post and I hope to be a regular on here throughout our journey to try and move down under. I have read lots of the posts on the forum and picked up some excellent advice and idea's and knowledge on Australia and the process of moving there. However on checking the SOL I can't seem to figure out if my job actually maps to any of the jobs on there. Me and my family have a huge desire to move down under and will do everything we can to fulfill our dream, if this means learning a new skill and trade then so be it. I currently work for a college and am the Manager for an IT Training Centre for adults. We deliver the ITQ/CLAiT/CLAiT Plus qualifications (teaching MS Office at level 2). I am also a qualified assessors and verifier (A1 and V1) and currently working towards my level 4 management NVQ and CTTLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector Level 4). My main questions are: 1. Does anybody know if my experience/qualifications are needed in Australia as I can't figure out if it maps to anything in the SOL. 2. I have a CCJ from 7 years ago which I still pay and my credit rating is not brilliant, will this affect my application? I am 27 and my wife is 26, we have 2 daughters (7 and 3). My wife is currently not working due to looking after our children but has now started looking again, she has no real qualifications but a background as a care assistant. My wife is also willing to learner a new trade to strengthen our application to live in Australia. Any advice would be extremely appreciated. Thanks Joe

    Nursing transcript of training

Hi everyone I'm getting all my info together for the ANMC skills assessment. I'm sorry if this has been asked before but i'm a bit confused over the transcript. I have my degree transcript but it only lists my academic results it doesn't list my hours of clinical placement. Is this the right transcript or do i need to obtain a different one which includes the clinical hours? Thanks

  9. Hi, I have an employer whos trying to get a 457 thro for me. Its a very small business and hes finding it hard to prove the training requirement. Anyone have any suggestions thanks in advance Mags
  10. Hi all. I noticed that they've now added training and development manager to the skills list - I'm sure that wasn't on there a year or so ago. This is my husbands profession. He's been a manager for about 3 years and before that a business trainer (for 1.5 years). Is there anyone else with this profession who are looking to go to Australia. Do you think it would be possible for us to go - we really want to

  13. Has any one used Queensland Electrical Training to complete there Vetassess training to get an electrical mechanical license?? 14. My husband has been working as a Height safety training Instructor for 10 years in the UK and is a qualified teacher. He's had his teaching qualifications assessed with Vetassess ok. We have a 457 visa and are coming over on 24.1.11 to Canberra. He apparently has to have this Cert IV before he can start working as a trainer in Oz. It has to be completed in Oz so he is booked in for a 3 day course within a couple of days of arriving, thinking he would be able to start work as a trainer the following week. He should be able to get recognition of prior learning but was advised it was so complex to go throught the process that it was easier to just do the whole course. He's just found out that the 3 day course has work books to complete that you are given up to 12 months to complete. This is not what we want to hear 3 weeks before we go! Does anyone have experience of this situation and have any advice about the best way to tackle it? It seems so frustrating to have to do the course at all when he's been training already for so long and has a positive skills assessment from Vetassess for his teaching degree. We'd be very grateful for any advice.
  15. The following* new (and some existing) trade and vocational related two year programmess are mostly available in Melbourne and SE QLD which may lead to permanent residency opportunities as advised by institutions: Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade)/Diploma of Engineering (Manufacturing) Certificate III in Furniture Finishing (Cabinet Making)/Certificate IV in Furnishing Technology (Melbourne & SE QLD) Certificate III in General Construction (Bricklaying/Blocklaying)/Certificate IV in Building (Melbourne & SE QLD) Certificates III and IV in Graphic Arts (Prepress)/ Diploma of Printing and Graphic Arts (Digital Production) (Everywhere) Diploma of Dental Technology (Most States) Certificate III in Electrotechnology Refrigeration and Air Conditioning/Certificate IV in Project Management and Diploma of Business (Most States) Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management Commercial Cookery or Patisserie (Everywhere) Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology/Certificate IV in Automotive Technology & Diploma of Business Management (Melbourne & SE/N QLD) Certificate III in Horticulture (Wholesale Nursery)/Certificate III in Production Horticulture/Certificate IV in Production Horticulture & Diploma of Production Horticulture (Everywhere) * NB This list is not comprehensive for specific requests ask. There are slight differences between similar programmes, especially start dates. Private institutions tend to have multiple entry dates, city based campuses, specialised and good industry linkages versus state TAFE. On other hand state TAFE have dedicated and very well resourced campuses in suburbs including recreation facilities etc.. Any mature (21>) candidate is eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) under the Australian Qualifications Framework for (related) experience and/or previous training. AIEC is accredited representative of all these institutions, for more info get in touch. You do not pay any fees for our services

  17. My personal trainer is offering free sessions for a fortnight, Nov 29 - Dec 10. If you want to start getting fit, or work on your current fitness, then give it a try. Just send me a message with your name and telephone number. They are based in Kawana and you can book in as many times as you like in the fortnight.
  18. Hi everyone, I hope someone can help. My company are currently sponsoring me but we have been stumped with the training requirements. I work for a small agency who often recieve free training from our media partners, which basically means there has been no need for paying for training. This unfortunalty is now a requirement in the 457 application process. I have been told that if my company agrees to employ an Australian citizen within the next two years, then this will be suffice and cancel out the training requirements. Is this true, and how would I go about putting this in writing? Any info would be great. Cheers Alister
  19. I was thinking about doing some training or an "at home" course or something along those lines... I know Oz is a bit funny about oversea's qualifications... but was wondering if anyone had any idea's on what type of course might be useful to me (if any) when i get over there!!! I would probably do a ITEC Distance Learning Ireland - FETAC Registered, Distance Learning Courses Ireland, Irish Training & Educational Centre, ITEC, Guaranteed Irish Home Study Courses. - distance / at home learning!!! so the categories are endless but I just wondered if there was anything in particular which might be of use to me out there??? Any idea's would be welcome... I know it also depends on my interests but thought i would throw it out there first before I made my mind up??? Cheers Susie

  23. Does anyone know of any training courses I can take (probably by correspondence) to learn about australian tax and accountancy rules before leaving the UK? I'm a UK qualified chartered accountant and already have PR so I don't need this to get a visa but purely for my own interest. I'm looking for a Financial Controllership type role (which is what I do over here) but would like to know the differences in my job between here and Oz before I go.
  24. Hi Guys.. Can anyone tell me.... If you are employed in Queensland Health and wish to do the post grad course in midwifery (already a registered nurse) do you pay fees? Are you paid for your clinical time or do you become a student again (no money coming in?) I cant seem to find the relevant info and Im sure the system is different to here in Ireland where your sponsored and paid for your 18 months post grad (but no job at the end of it unfortunetly cos of the recruitment ban, how mad is that, after them paying to train you??? :err:) Thanks, hope someone can help
  25. Hi !! My husband was offered a job by ACTS ( Australia Construction Training Services) as an assessor, but we are still waiting for the job contract, which was supposed to be sent by email... My husband sent an email to his contact ( the guy that offered him the job) there, but it's been over four weeks now and still no replies... we are getting a bit worried about this... as all the previous contacts we had with them were not really straight forward... Do you also think that this lack of feedback is worrying ? Just want to know if there's any ex-pat here that is working for this company; or has been offered a job with them... or even if you know someone who is working or was offered a job by them and is still in UK... ??? Also, if you are using their services to get your aussie qualifications, I would appreciate a sincere opinion, please, as we are getting really worried. Cheers!
