  1. Hello everyone, hope you can share with me the processing timeline of your South Australia 176 Visa Application. I am done with IELTS (done in May 2011), Positive Vetassess (received result in Sept. 28 2011), State Sponsorship in South Australia application was forwarded in October 25, 2011 and approved in November 30 2011. This December, perhaps on Dec. 12, I wil be able to lodge my visa. However, I was told that we can already lodge our visa while waiting for the Points test Advice. In this regard, I would appreciate if you can give us an idea how fast or what is the timeline that they follow for points test advice and also the processing timeline for 176 Visa Applications particularly to SA. Success stories of those who lodged their visa after July 01, 2011 will also be appreciated. Hope to hear from you guys. Regards, Mjcgito
  2. Hello, My family and I are moving to Melbourne in January 2012. My partner James is a carpenter so he will find work in his field, however I would also like to get a job. Our little girl is 10 months old so I would only like to work part time 3 days a week or about 4 hours per day Mon - Fri. I currently work for Leeds Metropolitan University working as a course administrator and would love to work for a Uni in Melbourne, I have joined all the job alerts at the Uni so any jobs that come up I'm applying for but I know there will be lots of competition. If I can't get a job at a University any admin job would be fine, I was just wondering if anybody had a rough idea of an hourly rate I would expect to get. I'm 32 and have worked at the University for 6 1/2 years and have done lots of temping and admin jobs so I'm quite experienced. Thanks Hayley xx

  7. Hi All, I am ready to send my documentation to South Australia and I just wanted to ask if Employment reference letter and CV need to be included with the cover sheet. The reference letter is said to be optional on the website but is it something which needs to be sent. There is not mention of CV in the required documents. Is it okay to just send the documents which are mentioned as required or does sending CV and reference letter help. Anyone with experience please let me know. Thanks.

    South Australia state sponsorship

Hi all, quick question, friends of ours yesterday received state sponsorship for South Australia. Only today the main applicant sat his IELTS for extra points for his 176 visa application(earliest opportunity he could of done it) The SS has a validity of 30 days, he has to submit the visa application within that time. He wants to know how strict SA are with this 30 day period, he's thinking does he book another IELTS just in case he doesn't get the required mark on today's test ??? Thanks......... You had 3 months for our WA application, 30 days seem a bit short !!!

  19. Tourism Australia is running an online campaign at the moment, promoting locations around Australia in short online videos, featuring, backpackers, tour guides etc to lure more young people Down Under to work and play. The Tourism Australia campaign, 30 days in Oz, consists of 30 online videos, each following someone different in locations around Australia, with each demonstrating in 60 seconds why "there's nothing like Australia for young travellers." Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy said the campaign would promote the Working Holiday Visa and encourage young people to consider Australia as a place to work or travel, particularly those leaving school or on a Gap Year. "One of Tourism Australia's objectives is to get more young people to holiday in Australia. These travellers often become lifelong advocates, influencing friends and family of all ages to holiday in Australia and returning themselves later in life," he said. "We also know from research that many of these visitors are backpackers, who spend more time travelling and explore more of Australia than other travellers, which is one of the reasons the youth market is such an important one for us." Dubbo, New South Wales

Just found out that I've got myself a job in Dubbo. Done a bit of research and it looks a nice place and of course I'll join one of the rugby union teams straight away and transfer my RSL membership to get involved with the local community. I've checked on the net and there's a couple of catholic schools I can transfer my daughters to - and hopefully my wife can get some work at; she's currently a teacher at my daughter's catholic school in Adelaide. I'm very much at the beginning of my research (hopefully we'll drive up there as a family during the school holidays in a couple of weeks to have a propper recce) and was wondering if any PIO members live in Dubbo or know it well so that they can give me a few pointers. Thanks in advance, Gareth
  23. Hello After much deliberation, our family of 5 have decided on a suburb north of the river and one south of the river that we feel would really suit us as a family. Job offers aside, we've been chatting to a few Aussies about suburbs and searching on forums for info from fellow Brits. Can someone honestly say what they feel about the NOR/SOR divide, differences etc. I know it's a personal thing, but the general feelings are so different, we're just confused as to the whole issue. It seems such a big deal and we just don't get what it is about!! Some say that NOR is the 'posh' bit for Poms, some say the total opposite! Some say both are the same and it's the individual suburbs that count. So really just to understand what the whole deal is, could anyone explain clearly?? What would your honest choice be and why (it may not reflect our situation, but it's just good to know a little more and hear some honest opinions!). Of course, we're going to see what happens when we get there, but not having been to Perth, we wondered if we could find out people's views beforehand. Any opinions most welcome
  24. This is just me thinking out loud because me and Harpodom have a bit of banter and throw a few sweeping generalisations around about northers and southerners.(uk) Do you think theres any REAL differences in mindset/attitude? I dont really tbh,"maybe" ive found southerners a bit less outgoing,a bit less likely to engage a stranger in conversation in the pub kind of thing. This is just my own experiences working in various parts of the country,London, quite a few areas from Harrow to Mayfair,Bristol and Bath,Reading etc. In the city i come from the people are(in general)very outgoing, wear their heart on their sleeve,if we like yer were not embarrased to tell yer, probs the same in reverse as well:laugh: To some we actually have a bit "too" much to say for ourselves, the playwright Alan Bennett once called us the norths cockneys, personally i'l take that as a compliment because east enders were the freindliest people i met in London. So do you think we have little differences/traits? i know i wont be bothered about walking into a pub in Aus on my own and having the craic no matter how many other brits there is in there or not. Also do you think where your from in the uk has any influence on how you settle and make freinds etc in Aus?
