Will SA be last with SMP??

I am really starting to believe that SA will be last in releasing their SMP! Could it be that because they have the interim list, their SMP will be signed off last... According to a email I received from SA after making an enquiry, they stated that their SMP has not yet been signed off...:frown: The wait is horrendous!! My agent recons/hopes that it will be released by Christmas 2010... who knows

    Queensland SMP this week??!

Please don't hold me to this - but I have had an email from Queensland immigration official overnight stating: "The details re SMP will be released in the next few days (so I am told). Details will be our web site www.workliveplay.qld.gov.au." That's what the immigration staff there had been told - but of course is still doesn't mean it's 100% definite! Unfortunately for us we have also been told plasterers are not on - not really a surprise but in case it's of any use.
  8. There are so many people out there tearing their hair out waiting for this its unbelievable. Can anyone advise on what I should have ready before they release it. The position we're in is that we have a positive IELTS and skills assessment. In limbo-land at the mo like a lot of people and want to know what kind of things will be asked on the State Sponsorship and visa application forms. Can anyone help? Thank you :wideeyed:

    WA SMP anytime now

Wonder how true this is? But this may be the light we're looking for. Taken from outside forum: This is taken from speech to AIG today. Chris Bowen "The changes include the implementation of State Migration Plans. While state and territory governments have always had the capacity to nominate applicants under the General Skilled Migration program, these plans will better target specific skills shortages in each state and territory. I am pleased to announce that I have entered into an agreement with the governments of Victoria and the ACT and approved the plans for Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Agreements with other states will be finalised by the end of the year".

DIAC reply SMP by 1 Dec 2010

One day, when frustration kicked in I just sent in an inquiry feedback through Chris Bowen government website to ask about SMPs. Surprisingly I received email reply from DIAC when I least expect it to happen :chatterbox: DIAC commented and intended SMP will be completed and in place by 1 Dec 2010. It's not gonna be long and we have gone that far to 1 Dec.

    Who's waiting for WA SMP??

So....out of curiosity who's waiting for WA SMP and under what occupation?? Are we all trades?? We are under 'Bricklayer'. It's interesting how the people getting CO for ACT are all around 0ct 09 and later - I wonder if there is not too much of a backlog if you make it onto an SMP - or is that just REALLY wishful thinking??? I reckon I can now totally relate to children waiting for Father Christmas!!:biglaugh: Will he come???? Will he give us what we want??? Hope I've been good enough this year!!!

    QLD SMP Released!

Commencement of Queensland state migration plan Joint Media Release with Andrew Fraser MP – Queensland Treasurer, Minister for Employment, Economic Development and Innovation and Senator Chris Bowen – Minister for Immigration and Citizenship Friday, 26 November 2010 Federal Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Chris Bowen, and Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Employment, Economic Development and Innovation, Andrew Fraser, today announced the commencement of the Queensland state migration plan. ‘State migration plans are part of the Gillard Government's continued commitment to supporting the Australian economy by attracting skilled migrants who can positively contribute to our workforce,’ Mr Bowen said. ‘The implementation of state migration plans will provide flexibility for state and territory governments to nominate skilled migrants in a broader range of occupations than are currently offered on the Skilled Occupation List.’ State migration plans are agreements between individual states and territories and the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship. The agreements specify an overall number of applicants that each state and territory can nominate and in what occupations they can nominate skilled migrants to work. The Queensland state migration plan enables the Queensland Government to nominate migrants who meet the particular needs of the Queensland economy. ‘Queensland is looking at sourcing highly skilled workers to meet critical skills shortages in priority industry areas and occupations, such as regional health practitioners and engineers for mining and coal seam gas projects,’ Mr Fraser said. ‘In total, 83 occupations in skills shortage areas are covered under the state migration plan. ‘State sponsorship is just one of the strategies the Queensland Government uses to address the future needs of its workforce. Other measures include education, training and employment initiatives.’ State sponsorship of skilled migrants to Queensland under the plan is limited to the skilled sponsored (subclasses 176 and 886) and skilled regional sponsored (subclasses 475 and 487) visas. The lists of eligible occupations for these visas will be released on the Queensland Government website along with information on specific sponsorship requirements for each occupation. See: Work Live Play Information about other skilled migration programs can be found on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) website. See: www.immi.gov.au The Victorian, ACT and Northern Territory state migration plans have already commenced. Further state migration plans are expected to be finalised in the coming weeks. Question about SMP / IELTS

Hi, I had a look at ACT & NT SMP - Some occupations state that they require a 7.0 in each band in IELTS. Being Irish / UK / Native English speakers, are we exempt from this? The DIAC states that certain nations are exempt, but the reason i ask - on the SMP pdf doc, some of the occupations don't specify an IELTS requirement. Any answers for me? I could not be arsed taking an IELTS test!! David
