  1. Hi there, May be having a blond moment, but was wondering whether anyone has started a thread showing the progress of SA SS applications? Did a search and there are ones for Vic, WA etc, but can't find one for SA. Just wanted an idea of how quickly the applications are being processed! If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great, or if there isn't one started... Many thanks

IELTS Help overall 7.0 for SMP

Hi All, I'm new here found this forum by searching Google. I am planning to apply for ACT SMP, in ACT SMP list my occupation is still Open (ICT). However this is my IELTS results: Listening 7 Reading 7 Writing 6.5 Speaking 6.5 Overall Band 7 Am I eligible to apply for SMP? Waaa I did not manage to get 7 on all band  Please Help.
  3. Hi All, I'm in the process of applying for ACT SMP I have the following already Positive ACS Assessment as Systems Admin which is currently Open in ACT IELTS Band of 8.5 All papers required by SMP The remaining problem I have is the letter explaining why I prefer ACT over Sydney where my brother and sisters lives. I've been to Canberra last August 2010 where I visited Parliament and War Memorial which actually helps as my evidence of personal research of their lifestyle. Does it create a problem if I have relatives in Sydney? I am thinking of factors such as: It is near Snowy Mountain where I can do snowboarding as my hobby which I did last visit. Since wake boarding is my hobby here in my country I used to work with a partner company located in Canberra The place I am living right now is less crowded wherein I believe ACT has also less population compare to Sydney. Any comments? Is there any proof that having relatives in other territory will have negative result? or is it better since they can help me. Thanks in advance.

  5. 8 April 2011 - Important update about your sponsorship application Sponsorship Applications under current Points Test - submit by 5pm on 2 May 2011. to allow enough time for visa applications to be lodged with DIAC under the current Points Test, all completed applications should be received by Immigration SA before 5pm (Adelaide local time) on Monday 2 May 2011. this means that your online sponsorship application and supporting documents should be submitted to and registered by Immigration SA before 5pm (Adelaide local time) on Monday 2 May 2011. please be aware that the Online Application System will be closed at 5pm (Adelaide local time) on Monday 2 May 2011. If your application is received after that time, it will not be processed. Immigration SA will endeavour to finalise applications received by the May deadline before 1 July 2011, to enable you to lodge your visa application with DIAC under the current Points Test. Please check the Online Client Tracking System for results, which will be available as soon as a decision is made on your application. all applications will be processed in order of receipt of complete documentation. Please be aware that due to the anticipated volume of applications, Immigration SA cannot guarantee that all applications will be finalised before 1 July 2011. you should also be aware that there are Planning Levels for all occupations on the current State Sponsored Migration List. Once the Planning Level for a specific occupation has been reached, that occupation will no longer be available for sponsorship. This means that applications already submitted for that occupation will not proceed to be considered under the current Points Test, you need to lodge your visa application with DIAC before 1 July 2011; otherwise your visa application will be assessed against the new Points Test and criteria. once details of South Australia’s Sponsorship criteria for 2011-2012 have been finalised, the Online Application System will be reopened. please regularly check the Immigration SA website for updated information. SMP Victoria

We lodged our application for a Skilled (accountants) State Sponsored Migration to Victoria in early November 2010 and are still waiting to hear something. Just wondered if we're not alone, or if anyone has had some success and how long the process took? Thanks
  10. hey guys, If you recieve your visa which was sponsered by a state and not their SMP. Could you use this as grounds to look else where? You could argue the state has no work in your occuption as stated by the states work force department. The point which i want to know, are there more grounds to request a move if your occuption is no longer on the SMP?
  11. Hi guys, Just saw DIAC website indicating that SMP for NSW have commenced on 3rd March 2011 but I am not able to find the sponsored job anywhere. Any ideas? Here's the link: State Migration Plans

    ACT SMP Released

The ACT has just released its State Migration Plan. There are no major surprises except that a very wide variety of occupations are included, many of them "unlimited", provided that there is "current ACT employment". Otherwise the ACT English and work experience requirements don't appear to have changed significantly. Cooks and hairdressers are both "unlimited", although hairdressers do need an IELTS of 7.0 on each band. 111211 General Manager (ASCO 1112) Corporate General Managers Limited 131112 Sales and Marketing Managers (ASCO 1231) Sales and Marketing Managers Open 132211 Finance Managers (ASCO 1211) Open 132311 Human Resource Managers (ASCO 1213) Open 132411 Policy and Planning Managers (ASCO 1291) Open 132511 Research and Development Manager (ASCO 1299) Open 133111 133112 Building and Construction Managers (ASCO 1191) Construction Project Managers Project Builder Open 133211 Engineering Managers (ASCO 1221) Open 133311 133312 Importer/exporter/wholesalers (ASCO 1192) Importer / exporter Wholesaler Demonstrated ACT economic benefit Limited 133411 Manufacturers (ASCO 1193) Demonstrated ACT economic benefit Limited 133512 Prod. Victoria SMP Timelines

Hi, we lodged our SMP (accountants) application on 1st November 2010 for Victoria and wondered if anyone has had their application granted since this date. Initially, I was informed it could take up to 2 months, so I just wondered if anyone has had their application granted since submitting in November. Thanks.

    Confused about SS and SMP

Hi there, Is State Sponsorship the same as being on the State Migration Plan? I'm trying to decide if it's worth going down the SS route (want the visa as soon as possible). If it helps I'm an ICT Business Analyst (261111) and will be going to Perth, WA. As I understand it, if I'm not on the SMP, then I may as well stick with a 175 visa application as the timeframe will be the same (cateogry 3). Oh and I wont be able to apply unitl mid-march as I'm waiting to sit my IELTS exam. Thanks Neil

www.crc.nsw.gov.au NSW ADDS MORE PROFESSIONS TO MIGRATION SKILLS LIST TO MATCH MIGRANTS TO STATE’S NEEDS – BIOCHEMISTS, FITTERS AND TRADE TEACHERS Tuesday, 25 January 2011 Premier Kristina Keneally today announced the NSW Government will increase the number of migrants that it nominates to live and work in the State each year – and has expanded the number of skilled professions to 138. "This is about attracting the world’s best and brightest to NSW," Ms Keneally said. "It is about matching up the needs of the State to the Federal Government’s immigration policies." New skills include biochemists and scientists and for rural and regional NSW: trade teachers, pharmacists, toolmakers and fitters as well as cabinet makers. NSW will increase the Federal immigration skilled migrants intake by 15 per cent to 1750 under the State Migration Plan. The Premier made the announcement with Minister for Citizenship, John Hatzistergos at an Australia Day event celebrating NSW’s culturally diverse community. Member for Liverpool, Paul Lynch, Member for Auburn, Barbara Perry and Member for Canterbury, Linda Burney also attended the celebrations. The State Migration Plan outlines the number of skilled migrants nominated by NSW to have their visa processing fast tracked by the Commonwealth each year. The NSW Government will add an extra 18 occupations to the Skilled Occupation List to better meet demand for skills in Sydney and regional NSW. This brings the total number of occupations on the NSW State Migration List to 138. New occupations added to the NSW State Migration Plan include: For regional New South Wales: • Vocational Education Teacher (Non Trades); • Vocational Education Teacher (Trades); • Corporate General Manager; • Production Manager (Manufacturing); • Pharmacist Hospital; • Pharmacist Retail; • Chef; • Baker; • Pastry chef; • Fitter (General); • Metal Machinist (First Class); • Toolmaker; and • Cabinetmaker. For Sydney: • Financial Investment Adviser; • Insurance Broker; • Solicitor; • Life Scientist; and • Biochemist. "The State Migration Plan allows the Government to nominate skilled migrants in occupations where demand cannot be met locally," Ms Keneally said. "The State Migration Plan gives NSW the flexibility to nominate skilled migrants in a broader range of occupations than those currently offered on the Skilled Occupation List and will further strengthen our economy. "Since March 2009, more than 182,000 jobs have been created in NSW and the expansion of the NSW State Migration Plan will continue to help our economy go from strength to strength." The NSW Government will now sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Citizenship to formalise the arrangements. Minister for Citizenship, John Hatzistergos said: "Increasing our annual intake of skilled migrants will ensure NSW continues to attract workers in high demand industries, such as finance, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology research." "While State and Territory Governments have always been able to nominate applicants for the purposes of state-sponsored migration, the introduction of the NSW Plan will improve the targeting of skills that are relevant and in demand in NSW. "The expansion of the Migration Plan is yet another example of NSW supporting the many benefits a multicultural society brings to the economy, education system and community life. "The State Migration Plan also complements our strategic VET, skills and tertiary education plans in addressing the skill needs of the NSW economy." The NSW State Migration Plan will now be forwarded to the Commonwealth for formal agreement. Background: • The NSW State Migration Plan formalises state-sponsored skilled migration arrangements between NSW and the Commonwealth. • The Plan ensures that NSW can access new provisions introduced under the Commonwealth Migration Act 1958. • These provisions allow fast-track visa processing for skilled migrants sponsored by NSW to meet the identified skills needs of our State’s economy. • The State Migration Plan provides a more targeted approach to skilled migration by allowing NSW to nominate highly skilled migrants in occupations that are not restricted to the new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) used for visa applications under the General Skilled Migration program. • The NSW State Migration Plan includes 138 occupations, and 18 of these occupations are off-list and are not available under the Skilled Occupation List
