  1. Hi, Is it possible to survive on a single income for a family of four + one car, rent $500/week? (kids 4 and 2 years of age). How much do you need to earn in order to lead a decent lifestyle? Trying to work out if we REALLY will have a better life in Sydney than in London...
  2. Hello all...I'm 27, male, single and a civil engineer (dont let that put you off) and I've just had my 457 approved to work FIFO out of Perth. Its just dawned on me what I have done! I'll be flying out sometime in late march/april and I dont know anyone.... not a soul. So, my plan is to contact some of you lot and arrange to meet some people in a similar situation when I get there. So, if thats sounds like you, or you jst want to meet somone new, post me a reply and we'll sort something out. Looking forward to a completely new and different life, and hopefully meeting some cool people.
  3. Hey all, A friend told me to try this place out and see if could make some friends and possibly even meet up with people, for when i arrive in Oz. I just received word that I passed my practical assessment for my Skilled Visa, I am just waiting to hear back about my IELTS exam. If all things work out, I shall be flying out in january 2010. If anyone (especially any single ladies) fancies getting to know a single 31 guy from Manchester, then please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks for reading my message and look forward to getting to know you, Cheers Matt:smile:
  4. Hi I have just got back from five weeks in NZ and loved it, however, preferred OZ when I was there 10 years ago!! I am after a more relaxed way of life and I love the outdoors! I am a PE teacher and wondered how easy it is to get work in this profession?? What are the kids like to teach over there?? Is there a decent single scene for my age group?? Where is the best place to head if you are a) looking for teaching work and b) if you are a single 30 something who loves the outdoors? Would love any help anyone can offer, should I come??? A whole year of visa process and £4,000 is that true? Confused Louise:unsure:

    Study and single

Hi guys My name is Sue - I am a young 40 years of age and thought I'd start at thread as I have no children (well not coming with me) and am now single (ish) I am originally from Yorkshire but have lived in France for 3 years now. I am (hoping) to live somewhere in Perth so I can carry on my accounting studies. At the moment our house is on the market in France so for financial reasons we need to sell so I can have funds. :arghh: I have looked into a lot regarding colleges etc and am happy with what I am going to do. My only downfall is 1) I am gonna be by myself as OH doesn't want me any more - 2) At my age and going to study - will I find it hard meeting new people? I have a great personality and mix well with others (honestly) and do not want any romance at all (been there, seen it, have the t.shirt) The college I am going to is (hopefully) central TAFE. So - any advice would be great. Thanks Sue XXX :jiggy:
  6. Hi, I'm a female Aussie, 43, and a single parent of one child. I know this isn't a dating site but what the heck! If anyone's interested in socialising let me know! [unfortunately I can't help with any migration issues - just thought I'd add that!]. I live in Melbourne.
  7. I cannot see myself getting married to be honest as I aint fussed about kids or a pair of slippers in front of the fire....anyone on here who could see themselves surviving without marrige :spinny: could you see yourself free and single today...
  8. Hello, I'm new to all this (including using forums and chat) so please bear with me! I'm a 32 year old mother of 2 (aged 13 and 8) and have dreamt of moving to Australia for a while now. I am a medical scientist specialising in immunology and dont really have a preference of where I live in Australia as long as its not too far from the coast! Having gone through a traumatic divorce and my parents emigrating to Spain there's really nothing here in the UK anymore and I feel its time to move on. How do I get started? Any advice is much appreciated....in the meantime I'll browse the forums. Thanks
  9. Hi I;m quite new to this site and always on it now, find it so helpful. My situation is after spending 3 yrs in oz 8 years ago i still have the bug to go back and live but its such a huge decision as i would be leaving a good business good friends family, but bored with life in Lincolnshire!! Just find it bit scary making the move on my own , as ideally it would be nice to go with your partner to help make a new life a little easier. So just wondered if anyone one eles making the move on there own or made the move on there own! Be great to get some feed back cheers

  14. Hi we are soon to get our furniture. Been without it since the 13th August just sat at the dock at Felixstowe for 2 weeks before it left for Australia. Anyway our stuff is finally ready to be delivered. We have two second hand single beds that my kids have been sleeping on temporarily. They are an older style on legs, but you cant tell when the bedding is on. The mattresses are comfy no tears or springs poking out. So if you need something temporary for your kids before your furniture arrives will be perfect. Please note They will need to be collected on the 21st November. if anyone is interested please pm me. Thank you
  15. Hi I'm new on this site, finding it quite addictive reading and really helpful. I am wondering if when we leave to go to Australia, we should book a single ticket or return? I presume with a return you'd need to put a date on it and it might only be valid for a year anyway. What have the rest of you done? Susie.
