  1. So a couple of times I've come across phrases to the effect... "Singapore Airlines, but they're not cheap" or words to that effect. So far the only airlines I have seen cheaper are not worth comparing with Singapore Airlines. From Reviews it looks like Singapore Airlines competes with the middle eastern airlines (Emirates, Etihad, Qatar) in quality and outperforms them in some parameters. yet from these four, its consistently the cheapest. Maybe I'm missing something... I've not bothered with the likes of China Southern etc...they are definitely cheaper, but their reviews are concerning. British Airways, Virgin Aus, Qantas (I'm aware of codeshare) and others of that sort seem to be more expensive than the above four... any ideas? looking for tickets for two adults, toddler and infant.
  2. I think someone asked recently which airlines offer extra free baggage allowance for those migrating. I asked the question to Singapore airlines, here is their answer.. Note visas must be permanent resident status:- "Kindly note, if you hold an unused/unstamped/not validated migrant visa that specifically states that you are permitted to remain in Australia / permanently for flights departing from London/Manchester you will then be entitled to our migrant baggage allowance (i.e. 40 kilos per seat paying passenger) This baggage allowance will only be granted when you check in at the airport when this visa is sighted and checked that it has also not been travelled on before, this has to be the first time it is being used. You can have as many items of checked luggage as you wish provided: • The total combined weight of all the items put together does not exceed your total checked allowances • No single item of baggage exceeds 32 kilos in weight, as a health and safety requirement If you are not holding the correct visa mentioned above at check-in, then you will be entitled to the standard free checked baggage allowance of 30 kilos per seated passenger. For reference, for flights between the United Kingdom and Perth the excess baggage charge is USD 85.. Per kilo which is approximately GBP…66… per kilo. Please note excess baggage is charged at check in on your day of departure using the applicable currency exchange rates for that day. We hope the above information helps . Thank you for choosing Singapore Airlines."

    Singapore airlines

Hello all just wanted to know peoples experiences of flying with Singapore airlines. Thinking of booking my flights to Oz through them, I've had a look at their website at the entertainment section and there's not really much in the way of movies to keep me entertained I know that's not the be all and end all of a flight as long as the rest of it had some good opinions! Thanks guys x
  4. Hi Has anyone had the experience of doing a name change with Singapore Airlines? I booked through an agent so they are looking into this for me but won't be able to contact Singapore Airlines until Monday. I have booked my son in my surname but he has got his father's surname on his passport....ooops! I just wondered if anybody knew what kind of costs I'm likely to incur? Many thanks

    Baggage Allowance 457 visa

Hi All We have just been granted our 457 visa after a very long process which is wonderful. Looking at travelling to Australia with singapore airlines and know that they offer double baggage allowance for those that are permitted to remain in Australia indefinitely. Does any of you very lovely people know if Temporary Business (Long Stay) (Class UC) (Subclass 457) is classed as permitted to remain indefinitely. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
