  1. Hi My family are looking to move to the Sandringham area at the start of august. I have a 3 year old daughter that i am looking to get into a local kindy, although from what i have been reading there may be a wait. Is this wait likely to be on government funded Kindys only. WOUld anyone recommend any good kindys in the sandringham/hampton/brighton area. I also would want to consider the kindy being a feeder to a primary school and could anyone recommend good primary schools, goverment or private in this area? Thanks.

    Schools in Port Noarlunga

Hi everyone, my name is Debs and i have just joined this site. My partner already lives in Port Noarlunga and I am due to join him there mid August with my son who is 11 ( Year 6). I have already got a provisional place in Port Noarlunga Primary but I would welcome any input on secondary (high) schools around that way. I looked at Cardijn College but given that they are full with a waiting list and that a religious background is preferred, it's unlikely he will get in there. I would really appreciate anyones opinions or experiences with any of the other local high schools in the area. Thanks.. Debs

    Sunshine Coast Schools.???

Hi, Have just registered as I only found this site the other day....it looks a great place to get helpful advice & make friends....so here goes with the helpful advice needed, PLEASE. We are moving out to the sunshine coast in July but still haven't decided exactly where yet. We are looking for a school for our 8 & 11 year old girls. In July they would be joining in year 4 & year 7. I would like them to be on the same campus if possible to make school runs easier. The problem is which schools should we put on our short list to visit when we get there??. Looking round the schools websites gives you some information but it would be great if anyone out there can give us some recommendations. We are looking at state schools or non-state schools ( but we aren't really religious!!). Any help/information would be great. Cheers, Sylvi.

    Enrolling in Schools

So many questions so little time..... Looking at Pacific Pines, Oxenford, Upper Coomera area and just wondered when can you contact the school in the area to enrol. We are looking to move in January 2012 in time for the start of the new term, but wasn't sure whether we would have to wait until we have an address etc. Any help greatly received. x

    Primary Schools in Canberra

Hi, We're trying to filter down some of the primary schools in Canberra that we should contact about possible schooling for our daughter who is currently 5. We are looking at areas to live around the Belconnen area, so would appreciate some possible schools we should contact. As our daughters schooling is a priority, we would also appreciate some thoughts on other good schools in Canberra as if there are some good ones in different areas, we can always look to buy in that area. Thanks, Richard
  10. This is my first post on this forum so please excuse any silly questions. I have had my permanent residency visa since January and I was offered a fantastic job in Brisbane and I start next month. My wife and three children will be joining me at the beginning of July. Our children are 13 years old and 5 year old twins. My offices will be in the CBD. Can anyone recommend any suburbs that will be within a 30-40 minute commute of the CBD and no more than a 20 minute drive to some decent private schools for the kids (preferably Catholic or Anglican due to our religious preferences)? Can anyone recommend any decent schools? We would like a 4 bedroom minimum house for hopefully no more than $1,000 per week (though would love to spend less). We truly weren't expecting Brisbane to be an option in my field so we had not done a huge amount of research on it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
  11. We have moved to the Gold Coast Qld from the UK recently and are looking into the possibility of moving to Sydney or Melbourne. We are looking for good schools but have a long wish list: excellent headmaster/headmistress, good teachers, smaller class sizes, ideally co-ed, happy atmosphere, good sport and music in a school that is not too big....to mention a few of the ingredients of a strong school. We have boys aged 11 and 8 and a girl of 6 so are looking initially at primary level but probably even more importantly want to consider secondary schools and the universities they would feed into.

schools and areas to live in Canberra

Hi all, we are all set to leave for Canberra in April 08. We have 2 sons aged 12 and 13. It is difficult to look at housing and areas when we are unsure of which school our boys will attend. My husband went out for a recce and it did help a bit, but all the schools were on holiday. He was very impressed with Canberra grammar (does anyone send their kids there that could offer an opinion?) but also liked Amaroo school. Our boys have been to 7 different schools so far (moving with hubby's job) and we know that by sending them to a private school they would be able to stay until they finish their education compared to a state shool where they would have to move again to a college. Any advice would be apprecited as I am sure there are many good schools throughout Canberra. I am a paediatric nurse and will be looking for work. My husband has a job to go to. Any contact from other nurses would also be appreciated. Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!
  13. Hi, Well, after researching Brisbane and deciding on where we'd ideally like to live, we have now been offered a good job opportunity in the Gold Coast, and with 8 weeks to go, will need to decide, if we choose there, where we'd like to be based. Its so hard, as I dont know much about the Gold Coast really. I've looked at Coomera, Pacific Pines, Arundel, Varsity Lakes, Robina, Helensvale, but have no clue as to which areas have decent schools. There's only so much you can find out from the Naplan results. My OH may be working near the Versace Hotel or in Robina, so areas close enough to commute would be good, but my sister lives in Brisbane, so probably north end of the GC so as closer to there too. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of the schools near these areas? Or can advise which areas to avoid? I watched Phil Down Under and the couple said that the house they saw near the university was in their friends' opinions, not a good area to live. Thanks Shaz
  14. We desperately need help. We are currently in Brisbane on a reccie and looking into state primary schools and we're not finding it easy to find a good state school. We're looking in the Bayside suburbs, East of Brisbane and Redland areas. We have exhausted the myschool website and the results that we are getting from that for the state schools appear to be average or below average. The schools with the excellent results appear to be either the Catholic schools or the private school, none of which are an option for us given the entry requirements. Does anyone have any personal experience of the schools around these areas that can share an opinion? Also it says on the website of one of the catholic schools that they require a baptism certificate to enrol in the school. Anyone know differently? Cheers

  17. Hello folks! Anyone out there living on the sunshine coast with kids? We have 3 kids ages 12, 10 and 6. So far, I have short listed the schools to Meridan State College, Caloundra City Private School (Pelican Waters) and Buderim/Mountain Creek schools. Any feedback on any of these? 18. Hi, Before I had two children I had hobbies, one of which was diving. As we are moving to Brisbane and the children are not babies now I thought it would be a good opportunity to take it up again. I'm not sure where to start, I was once a PADI Divemaster but it's been years. Do I need to start all over again? Obviously Brisbane is in reach of some amazing diving but what about more locally? I guess there's not much going on in the evenings since it's dark early......or night dives? Would love to speak to anyone who's involved in Diving. Louise

    Williamstown schools

Hi Does anyone have any personal experience of Williamstown primary schools - I know there is a Williamstown primary and Williamstown North - Are they good schools?
  20. Hello All, Hopefully we'll be moving over to Perth later this year....and I'm now trying to find good primary and secondary state schools within good catchment areas. Initially our thoughts were NOR - places such as Oceans Reef, Carramar, Tapping....ideally not too far from the beaches, parks, amenities - restaurants etc and transport links (main routes by car/train into Perth). In general how are people finding the primary and secondary schools in Perth? I look forward to your responses Carl

  23. Large family home available on the 16th April in a great location in Mindarie - 63 Bellport Parade. ** FIRST HOME OPEN ** WED 30TH APRIL 2.40PM ** Call to arrange another viewing if this time doesn't suit. It has four bedrooms. The master bedroom has a large en-suite, reverse cycle air con and walk in wardrobe. The three other bedrooms all offer built in wardrobes. There is a great sized living area at the front of the property and two other very good sized family areas to the rear, with reverse cycle air con and a wood-burning stove. The games room opens out to the alfresco area and overlooks the large lawn. The property has a double garage and a shopper's entry to the kitchen. There is a dishwasher, oven and pantry. It takes 4 minutes to walk to Quinns Baptist College, Peter Moyes and Mindarie College saving a huge wait in the school traffic. Or jump on the bus which is a short journey to Clarkson train station. The house is in the preferred Mindarie Primary catchment area. There is a lovely walk through the park at the end of the road, along the coastal paths to Quinns beach and Portofino's cafe. The local pub is The Boat at Mindarie Marina. Great spot! We are breaking the lease to buy. You can contact me direct to view and the agency - Century 21 in Clarkson. Secure your rental quickly and be the first to view! The rent is $470 p/week. It is available from the 16th April. My mobile is: 0426 811 558 (or +61 426 811 558). If you are coming from overseas, you can ask someone else to view on your behalf, including your relocation agent. Every estate agency has more or less the same application form from REIWA. Ask a rental agency to email or fax this to you. If you wish to rent a property you submit an application and the owner chooses the tenant they prefer. There is a lot of competition for rentals at the moment so I would advise you to get the ball rolling from the UK end so that you are not stuck, like we were! The agency details and photos are available through the link. Thanks. www.realestate.com.au/property-house-wa-mindarie-405122858

    Primary Schools in Melbourne's suburbs?

:cute:Hi there all... We have been happily living on the Gold Coast for 2.5 years, and have just received the news that my husband's new promotion means we will be living in VIC from the end of the month! We need to find a fabulous State Primary School... boys are 6 and 11. The area needs to be pleasant, with things to do, and access to my husband's region - which is : Melton South / Melton West / Caroline Springs / Cairnlea / Deer Park / Derrimut Village / Burnside / Ardeer / Sydenham We need him to be able to get to and from these places, but without living in them. Any recommendations would be gratefully received.... we currently feel like we have no clue where to begin looking, and are on a flight down there shortly! A full removals package means we don't have the hassle of selling our house ~ which is fabulous........! Take care and thanks everyone x :notworthy:
