  1. I have just come across this website which says the IELTS test is not required if you have been nominated for a position that does not require English language assessment for licensing or registration. Following are the people who are exempted from English language assessment or IELTS test: Applicants whose first language is English and are a passport holder from Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom or the United States of America. Click on the link below. http://www.immigration.net.in/are-you-the-lucky-one-to-enjoy-the-exemption-from-ielts-test/ I'm not sure what to make of this as it would make sense to be exempt from the test if your first language is English. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  2. Good evening ladies & gents, i wonder if you could possibly help me with a little dilemma? But can someone please give me the conversions for cup measurements, into basic ounces or grammes, oh and fluid ounces, or if you know of a web link, i have found two but they both say different  so is Australian and American cups different is my next question :wubclub: Many thanks x
  3. Hi there, We have at last been granted our residence visas for Australia and are now going to be validating our visa at the beginning of September. We are heading to Melbourne to stay with family and are then going to undertake a reccy across to Adelaide, as our 176 is for South Australia. Can anyone help with answers to some of our questions? We will be staying in Adelaide for 3 nights, we have a 2 year old son, so an appartment would be the best option, can anyone suggest/name some places to stay....approximate cost? If appartments hard to come by, which hotels would be the best option? What areas should we NOT look at for housing? What areas are family friendly and affordable? How much would a 3 bed house cost? To buy and to rent? What estate agents should we check out? My profession will be mental health nursing once qualified, what are the names of hospitals that have adult psychiatric wards? Any other information that you think may be of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

    Advice for Electrician required

Can anybody help? I am looking at moving out to Australia ASAP (Perth) with my family but I am looking for a sponsor to help me migrate. I am a fully qualified electrician by trade but have been working and am still currently working as an electrical engineer / project manager within the building services industry and have been for the past 5 years +, the issue I have is that I do not have a degree in engineering or project management and because I have not been on the tools for the last 12 months I cannot do the vetassess. I do want to study for my degree but I want to do this in Australia as it will take another 3 years before I can apply for migration if I study for my degree here in England. I know that it is a long shot but I have friends and family that currently live out in Perth and they have advised that there could be some opportunities coming up for sponsorship due to recent government announcements. If anybody has any info or may be able to point me in the right direction than it would be most appreciated. Thanks for reading.

I'm a 37 year old office manager and am would love to move to Oz. I'll give a quick run down of my experience and would like some brutal honesty about the likelihood of getting any kind of a job - and any useful pointers on what I could do to increase my chances. Here is the rundown of my experience: BA in public policy and management 2 years as an administrator 6 years as a graphic designer/marketing assistant 6 years office manager If I could turn back the clock and get a trade under my belt I would but I'm dying to get to Oz and will do any amount of training or re-training to get over. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Cheers! G

    Documents Required for Name Change

Hi All, I am going to make an application for Skill Assessment to ACS. I have changed my name to JYOTI KHATRI from JYOTI few months back, as I was told by many people that having a single name is a risky business in countries like Australia, America, UK, etc. I have all my school and graduation degrees/certificated in single name only. Now, I have got my name changed in my Passport, Permanent Account No. (PAN), Mobile Connection, Salary Account, Current Employer. I have also published change of name declaration in News Papers and a Govt. weekly magazine too. What else do I need to send ACS for skill assessment ? I had sent an email to them at assessment@acs.org.au but my mail bounced back. Any ideas or suggestions friends. Thanks in advance. Regards.

    Advise required please

I have been in Australia for 4 and a half years (just under 3 on a 457 work visa). I have been in a de-facto relationship with my Australian girlfriend for aprroximately 15 months (been together 2 years). The other week I was in my car and I was involved in an accident. After after a few weeks I was charged with a dangerous driving charge (in qld criminal code). Im just extremely worried that if convicted of this charge my visa will be cancelled and I will be forced to leave Australia. I dont whether it would be better to stay on my 457 visa or change to a spousal visa, I just dont want it to be seen as a defacto relationship of convenience although it is 110% genuine. I have spoken to an immigration lawyer and they say it would be extremely harsh if my visa were to be cancelled but i thought id try and get a second opinion from you guys.
