  1. Hi all Hopefully arriving in Sydney about 12th-13th January (booking flights last minute!) and wondered what the best idea is with regards to renting? Obviously all our stuff will not be there so was looking into Holiday rentals as we will need it to be fully furnished. Has anyone got any reccommendations? We are heading to northern beaches and ideally around Curl Curl/ Warriewood/ Narrabean etc but would not mind travelling... Any suggestions welcome! xx:emoticon-signxmas:
  2. hi everyone newbie to the site, after anyones thoughts or opinions about living and working in avon, northam!this is were i will be based?
  3. Hi all, Can anyone answer a simple question for me? Generally speaking are properties rented furnished or un-furnished? None of the ads on various websites seem to state this ansd none of the agents I've contacted have replied to me. I'm asking as we're moving over from UK in January 09 and wonder whether it would be worth staying in a holiday apartment for a while and search for a rental property or whether should jump straight in to a rental. Obviously then we'd have to find some sort of furniture pretty quickly! Thanks in advance, Tim

    pensions / rentals in uk

We have been in australia for a little over a year now and are finally getting our heads round the enormaty of what we have done ! We have a house still rented in the uk with good long term tenants, we are paying a fairly high mortgage over here and have no spare cash at the end of each month and would like to renovate etc eg a pool and extra bedroom .We only have 3 years left on mortgage in england at the end of witch we will be getting a nice sum each month and hopefully the property market will rise again .We do not know what to do for the best .We will be getting proper financial advice very soon but would like to know other peoples views and opinions to help us make up our minds which way to go . We are mulling over ideas such as selling in uk buying smaller and using spare cash to renovate , or just sell and bye small rental over here etc etc .Any views will be apreciated many thanks paul and kate

    Fab rentals!

Well this is a long time overdue but I just wanted to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU and give them a bit of low key ADVERTISING!!! to John and Eve of Emi-great. We organised short term furnished rental with the sponsoring company through Emi greats web site but didn't know anything else about them and we have felt really lucky that we found out about them. They advertise their furnished accommodation but what they don't tell you about is the genuine concern for you. We arrived and did have the option to be collected from the airport from them, although the company wanted to, but knowing that somebody could be there to take you to the rental is a massive help with everything else there is to think about before you leave. They did arrange a car to be there ready for us on the drive when we reached the rental and we kept the car hire for the first few weeks so we could have a really good look around before we bought our own car and you don't pay for it until you hand it back which is good if you are waiting for money to transfer over. Even before we left the uk we felt looked after as they were chatting on the phone to our sponsoring company making arrangements. Once in the rental Eve would ring during the week to see if we were all ok and see if we needed anything which was soooooooooooo good when there was just the 4 of us and nobody else there to go to to ask questions if we needed to. To me it just felt really reassuring that in a strange country we had at least 1 phone number we knew and we knew we had somebody to contact to help us if we needed it. You can pay for internet and phone service in the properties and they will let you borrow a computer free of charge which was great for us so we could get in touch with family and friends the night we arrived and again is just so reassuring. Part of the service included in the price is also half a day to be driven around by John to see the local areas which goes by in a blur and doesn't seem to make sense at the time because you're getting over jet lag and all the areas blur into one!!! but over the next few days and weeks as we travelled around ourselves we remembered going to the places with John and it started to make more sense. So if anybody is looking for furnished accommodation when you first arrive I would definitely recommend Emi great because how many other rental companies become your friend and surrogate family when you really need it??? :notworthy::notworthy: Donna x

  12. well, off to the sunny coast in 5weeks 5 days 15 hrs and 41 minutes but whos counting!! antway, have been reading about the difficulty in getting rented accomadation on the sc. can anyone who's already there confirm or deny!? surely there must be something about! we've already sorted out 4 weeks in a holiday rental and were hoping to secure a 3 or 6 month lease in that time. is this a realistic timeframe or should we seriously think about booking another month? many thanks in advance.
  13. check out web site for SEQRents - Rental accommodation, property, student accommodation and share accomodation in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Logan City, Ipswich and South East Queensland They have short/long term rentals and furnished/unfurnished all over qld from city to coast. This is who I got my property with. They actually let you book over the net not like most agencies who like to see you in person. I hope this helps some people:notworthy:

    short term rentals?

Hi all, This is my first post although Liz has entered the fray once or twice! I am looking for advice regarding short term rentals - we are looking at moving over in July to the Rockingham/Peel area which includes Mandurah and the surrounding area outside Perth. Obviously we will need somewhere to stay in order to get our bearings and then find somewhere more permanant to rent can anyone suggest anywhere relatively low cost, even willing to consider a caravan park if needs be! but really just need to know where to start looking and what has worked or not for other people thanks for your time fellow sun seekers Ian :notworthy: Ps must be near a beach as liz will be working initially whilst I check out the sites  (oops did i just say that as i was dreaming it?)
  19. Hi All, I will be looking to rent for about 12 months when we get over to Brisbane later this year, can anyone point me in the direction of what you get as standard with rentals and what landlords allow as add ons? Broadband? Satelite TV? Pets? We are taking our cat with us and we will need a place that allows pets, the other 2 are pretty much must haves as I will be communicatin with the UK quite a bit and webcams will be getting hammered. Are these standard on lets nowadays? The Hickeys Martin (37) Becky (37) Laura (14*) Danny (12*) *Age when we get to Oz.
