  1. Hi, I am currently a primary school teacher working in Scotland. Myself and family (Oh and 2 boys) applied for a 175 visa with me being the main applicant. I am currently studying for a Post Graduate Degree in Early Education ( birth to 8 years) and hope to achieve this in september 2010. I have noticed on the new SOL list that Primary teacher is not there but Early childhood (pre-primary school) teacher is. Will my new qualification help me and if so would I have to change my application? Regards, Shelley Scott.

  4. I am going to apply for 885. I read the Question 30 in Form 1276: Provide details of your Australian and/or overseas post-secondary qualifications. It continues "Please include certified copies of your academic transcripts with your application." So does it mean that I need to submit my bachelor degree I did in China and the transcript as well? Or I just put my Master degrees I did in Australia and do not need to submit the certified copy of the Bachelor degree? ( I am not going to claim the 5 bonus points of community language) In Form 80 and 1221, there is also a question about education history since leaving high school, so I think if I put my bachelor degree in that question, I need to submit the certified copy of Bachelor degree and transcript as evidence to support it. Is it right? But some of my friends said as long as you reach the 120 points, you do need to bother submitting the Oversea Qualification. I appreciate anyone who can help me!
  5. Hey, I have spent the last 12 hours looking for info on applying for a 176 sponsored visa to Australia. And this looks like the best site for help,I would be so grateful. First of all I can only get 95 points in the assessment test which I'm upset about. I am finishing a bachelors degree in Information technology support so I have put down computing support technician as my occupation which is only worth 40 points. my questions are as follows and as I said before any help would mean allot! 1.by having a bachelor degree in IT support + 1 years work experience be enough to receive those 40 points? 2. Under the computing professionals (nec) The entry requirement for this occupation is a bachelor degree or higher qualification or at least 5 years relevant experience. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification. my course that I am currently studying is more about networking, security, and system administration rather than help desk support. even tho my qualification is called IT support since it is a Bachelor Degree can I put this down and anvil of the 60 points? has anyone any expertise in this area or have gone through the same problem? If any more info is needed i will be more than happy to issue more Thank you Davie

  7. My husband has a city and guiids in electrical and electronic engineering technicians part 1 and another one in Information technology. Does anyone know what its AQF equivalent is, if any? He also has a post-leaving certificate in CAD and engineering applications. All these qualifications were gained in Dublin. As well as this, he has over 15 years experience in Autocad design and approximately 5 years experience as a CAD manager. Can anybody advise us on which code, preferably assessed by VETASSESS(as he does not have a degree), we would fall under?
  8. I have recently finished my Masters Degree and have taken a year out to teach English in China. I enjoy the job and would like to become a teacher full time but I don't actually have a teaching qualification. I am thinking about going back to University to study for a teaching diploma. Would I be better studying for this in the UK or Oz? Oh and what are the teaching conditions and salary like? I bet they aren't as bad as China!
  9. Hi All, I am a qualified Chef with a City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality & Catering. I am on my way to Oz in January on a Working Holiday Visa. I hope to find a job with a sponsorship within the year that I am there. I have lost my certificate at the moment but I have a copy of it. Would this be enough for the Immigration folk or do they want the original hard copy? Thanks for your help, Jennis
  10. I am looking at the opportunity to come in on an Employer Nomination, however the ASCO code for my area (Sales Rep - ICT 2222-13) says that experience can replace formal qualifications but then to be assessed the VETASSESS site says you have to have formal qualifications. I have written to VETASSESS but wondered if anyone here knew something about this? Thanks for any help.

  15. Anyone waiting for their qualification assessment back from VETASSESS, and if so, how long have you been waiting? I've been waiting for over 2 months now, and every time I check, I get a standard email back saying 'most assessments are carried out in 6 weeks, but some take a little longer'. Its now been over 2 months and still nothing. Really annoying as I can't do my SS until this comes through.:arghh: Thanks Julie

    Proof of qualification for tra

Hi, wondering if anyone can help us with a huge problem. We are applying to the TRA under Electrician Special Class, they require proof of my husbands Btec ONC, the problem is we had lost the second year cert which should show the qualification was gained. We requested a duplicate of the original cert from the exam board. This came but was the same as first year except one extra module was added on. Contacted them, they said we could request a combination cert to show that qualification was gained. Now their records show that the college he attended did not submit his results for the second year (explaining why copy cert was not correct). It is not possible to contact the college as now closed and over 10 years since qual gained. Exam board will not issue a letter stating what has happens. They suggested re-taking the qualification (not an option due to work commitments). Has anyone any ideas what we can do, what is acceptable to TRA to prove qualifications? Is there another way to get the cert to prove qual? Many thanks.
  17. Iv just been compiling my evisa for a 176 and have become a bit unsure. I obtained my Australian qualification through an online based company who are based in Australia (And i am in the UK). I have inputted the qualification information as an overseas qualification (Outside of Australia), as in booklet 6 it states that you must be physically in Australia for 2 years for it to qualify as an Australian qualification. (This would give you an extra 5 points). When completing the overseas qualification section the form asks for the institution name, City and Country, the institution is straight forward, the city where it is based is Cairns, but you can not select Australia from the Country drop down box so would have to put UK. This doesn't read right to me and so i would expect that it wouldn't to a case officer, so can anyone advise the best way to submit my qualification informtation??? Many thanks

    Job qualification query

Hi all, just wondering I am a telecom engineer with 13 yrs experience on copper ( installalation, faulting, jointing, etc ) also 12 months fibre planning experience, I have loads of BT training courses under my belt but am aware these are not recognised, I have also got City in Guilds L1,2&3 in electrotechnoligy and BS 16th edition. Does anyone know if these will be of any use to me in finding a job in Telecoms/Electrical work. We are looking to move to the outer suburbs of Brisbane this year, myself, wife ( Nurse ) and 2 kids.
  21. Yeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhh - I had to let you all know how excited and happy my hubby and I are; we have finally received his Australian qualification!!!! and are now jumping for joy! My hubby's NVQ II plastering qualification was not enough, as he had not completed enough college hours, even though he has been plastering for over 10 years! So he has had an assessor come and check out his work and issue him with an AQF III certificate in solid plastering which should enable him to get through the TRA easier and also be better paid once we arrive out in Australia (if and when we get there!!!). It is a very expensive way to go, but must be worth it if we succeed into getting our visa! Its taken long enough to arrive, and we have been pulling our hair out as we want to get onto the next stage - the dreaded TRA. We are hoping to pass all the info (which I have spent weeks preparing for) over to our agent now and we will be keeping everything possible crossed and hope that we pass the TRA! Thanks to all of you that have advised us up to this stage, lets hope the next stage is as successful! Tasha 02/09/08 - 110% positive we want to go to Oz 01/10/08 - Told family (went down like a lead balloon!) 02/10/08 - Appointed an agent 23/10/08 - Hubby assessed for AQF III qualification 14/11/08 - Hubby received Qualification!
  22. Hi there, Originally qualified from University with a Mechanical Engineering HND, I find myself today working as a self-employed plumber (specialising in renewables - solar, heat pumps etc.). I have worked as a plumber for the last five years and I have my City & Guilds Technical Certificate but not my NVQ (long story...), I have my solar qualification and my unvented ticket. We're hoping to move to Queensland and I'm just starting the process to get my skills assessed. I just wanted some advice as to whether it would be beneficial to me to get my NVQ before starting the assessment process? As I have left my workplace folder un-assessed for a number of years I fear I may have to re-compile it at great expense in terms of time and money! Could I avoid having to do this and still have my skills assessed? Would they take into account that I'm also a mechanical engineer and have experience in the renewables sector? Any help with this process would be greatly appreciated. My head is in a spin!:spinny:

    C&G Qualification

Hi I am about to start the process of applying for a Visa with over 10 years experience in IT. Going through all the information online, it would seem I would need a Degree (which i dont have) to get the 120 points or do the RPL. I do have a diploma in Information Technology (applications) from city and guilds and also a 1 year city and guilds certificate in IT maintenance / Networks - would these qualifications allow my to by-pass the 'Recognition of Prior Learning' ? Any info on this would be much appreciated ... Mick

  25. Hi all, I'm toying with the idea of teaching in Australia. I'm sure you're aware of the four year education requirement. Thing is though, because of my circumstances I gained my degree in a year. By the time I apply, I'll have the PGCE, and a Masters, but my total time at University will only be 2 years. Do you think that will be a problem? Thanks AG
