Do we still need proof of our relationship even if we're married??

Hi there, We sent our application of last week (and didnt go through an agent). The document checklist says that we need to provide proof of our relationship including statements from myself and my husband, friends, proof of travel together, mortgage statements etc... My sister is also going through the application process, and is using an agent. The agent told her it is not necessary to provide proof of relationship if you are married, just as long as you provide a copy of the marriage certificate. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?!! I sent off a copy of our mortgage statement and utility bill (just to be safe!), but didnt send any written statements. Will they contact us if they want more details, or will they send our application back to us? It seems like such a pain having to ask our friends and family to write statements, especially as we are married (it would be a different story if one of us was Australian and then we got married, and the other person applied for a visa!)!!
