  1. Hello everybody, first of all let me apologise If I have started a new topic where I shouldn't have, I have never used forums before. . I submitted the nomination and application for 186 direct entry on Jan 21 2017 as a graphic post press trades-person. I have been waiting for 13 months and my lawyers have not been contacted once ! The only thing my lawyers always say is to wait. This uncertainty is nerve wrecking , also this occupation apparently is no longer on the list. Does anyone knows if this affects the application and / or processing times? Do we know if the processing times for 186 direct entry vary according to occupation. Thanks in advance for any info.. Any advice would be appreciated. I have posted this message in other topics but I don't have not received one reply, so my best guess is that It is in the wrong section of the forum. This wait is really affecting me and my dependant.
  2. Hey, Long time lurker here. Long post, sorry, a mixture of nervous and excited. Having been rejected for me me dream job on my Birthday just before Xmas, I was surprised last week to wake up to an offer email. I had spoken to the hiring manager who decided to overrule the decision. Im awaiting to finalise negotiating when the manager is back off sick leave (he has no voice to negotiate with!). Meanwhile I’m trying to clarify visa options to help negotiate. Im in a weird situation, where my job doesn’t actually fit any ANZSCO code directly as I’m in a niche sciency engineeringy service, but would be managing an APAC business unit in the mining sector. I could directly match one on the Long Term (Corporate General Manager) if they accept I’m being promoted based on technical and business ability, but haven’t directly held the position before. I see the skills assessment wants details on current job organogram and number of direct reports.... I have a weird job / company and don’t have either! Or I’d fit corporate services manager - but that’s a short term list role. I am am also a chemist and an process engineer (degree in each) and would probably pass skills test in either discipline. I’ve asked the HR to contact their MARA with job descriptions and my CV and advise what ANZSCO code they would advise as suitable, and I’ve done a lot of reading. As I won’t hear back for a while (MARA is on hols) I’d appreciate some advice. I’m fretting and googling like mad. Anticipation, anxiety and excitement are killing me. 1) Do they skills assess every role, or do they trust the companies judgement in hiring a suitable candidate? (I’m suitable due to expert knowledge in a field that doesn’t exist on ANZSCO and they can’t hire locally, but not managerial experience) 2) If I we’re to go in a short term 2 year, can it be renewed and is there any chance of PR? Is the TSS going to be any better? Chances are after 4 I’d be moving off to another expat role unless I find he love of my life and finally settle and marry. (I thank the plebiscite and the wonderful voters for my ability to marry in Australia, sorry about the cost!) 3) I assume starting the role managing remotely doing business trips for a couple of weeks every few months whilst awaiting a visa would look dodgy? (I’ve used my WH visa, and have only been on one further business trip recently). 4) Some friends of mine just got intercompany transfers on 457 in 3 weeks, is there any way a MARA can push through? Waiting 88 days or up to 8 months before handing in my notice would drive me mad! Any advice welcome, and look forward to meeting some of you for a schooner or three.

    457 Visa Priority Processing

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone on here has had their 457 visa priority processed recently and if so how long it took to be granted from the time the priority processing request was accepted? My partner has been sponsored by the business he works for and we submitted our 457 application back in the middle of May 17. We put in for a priority request just over a week ago due to circumstances that have made our application more urgent, we had the priority processing approved, but still haven't had the visa granted. Just looking for other people's experiences/ timelines. TIA ?
  4. Hi all, hope whoever is reading this is well, Has anyone had their 417 Working holiday visa denied? I applied for a 417 Working Holiday Visa (I'm a pommie) and on the form it asked if i have ever overstayed my visa in a country, which unfortunately i have done, when i was in Taiwan 2014 (obviously not meaning to- forgot to renew my visa so I went to renew it and turned out I had to renew this visa outside of the country and i had actually already overstayed so I flew home and paid a fine at the airport before leaving). My visa has not been approved/denied yet but I know Australia is strict on not wanting possible overstayers and I've read in many posts people (Brits) getting their visas approved in minutes. So, I am wondering if I'm going to end up waiting the 36 working days to find that my visa will be denied, because of my Taiwan overstay! Anyone been in this position before and had their visa approved (or denied), albeit in the 36 working day processing time frame? I've been granted a student visa before when i studied in Australia for 3 years (2010-2013) and didn't breach any rules on my visa there, so hoping that counts for something? Thanks in advance for any insight on the situation- I'm just very excited to get started on my aussie adventure but now worrying my visa won't be granted! Naomi

  9. Hello everyone, hope you can share with me the processing timeline of your South Australia 176 Visa Application. I am done with IELTS (done in May 2011), Positive Vetassess (received result in Sept. 28 2011), State Sponsorship in South Australia application was forwarded in October 25, 2011 and approved in November 30 2011. This December, perhaps on Dec. 12, I wil be able to lodge my visa. However, I was told that we can already lodge our visa while waiting for the Points test Advice. In this regard, I would appreciate if you can give us an idea how fast or what is the timeline that they follow for points test advice and also the processing timeline for 176 Visa Applications particularly to SA. Success stories of those who lodged their visa after July 01, 2011 will also be appreciated. Hope to hear from you guys. Regards, Mjcgito

    processing 176's vs 175's

Besides the time difference (with 176's taking far less time to process than 175's) is there anything else that the DIAC does differently when assessing applications for either of these visas? For instance, are 175's subjected to more checks and are far stricter to get? Or are both visa's processed the same way?
  11. From 1 December 2011, the Australian High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan will process all new family based migration applications for applicants from Pakistan and Afghanistan. According to the announcement, made by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), all new partner, child and family visa applications lodged by those who live in Pakistan or Afghanistan (except for applications made by Afghan nationals) will be processed by the Australian High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan. Afghan nationals who live in Afghanistan or Pakistan should continue to lodge these visa applications with the Australian Consulate-General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where the applications will continue to be processed in Dubai. For those who lodged their visa application before December 1, 2011, they will continue to have their application processed by the Australian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand until further notice. If applicants' cases are transferred to the Islamabad office, they will be informed by their new case officer in that office. Permanent visa subclasses affected by the change are as follows: Child (Permanent) (subclass 101) visa Adoption (Permanent) (subclass 102) visa Aged Dependent Relative (subclass 114) visa Remaining Relative (subclass 115) visa Carer (subclass 116) visa Orphan Relative (subclass 117) visa Prospective Marriage (subclass 300) visa Partner (Temporary and Permanent) (subclass 309 and 100) visas Dependent Child (subclass 445) visa
  12. Hi All, I just wanted to ask everyone's thoughts on the effect (if any) that the July 2012 visa application changes (EOI) will have on 175 applications that are lodged before the changes are implimented. Looking through recent posts I have seen that some 175 applications have been turned around in 8-10 months which wouldn't be a problem for us. Our only concern is that if we were to lodge a 175 application within the next month or so, and a case worker isn't assigned before the July changes, would the changes delay the processing of the application, i.e. will the new EOI system take priority as these applications could be thought of as being more attractive than an old 175 application? Any thoughts???
  13. Hi guys, I have recently received my AHPRA reg (slow painful process!). We are hoping to be in Australia (Queensland) next April/May (ish). We are putting our house on the market immediately after xmas and hoping for a fairly quick sale! Im currently in talks with two hospitals who seem keen to interview me during their next recruitment drive which will be Jan/ Feb I believe. Both have said they can offer sponsorship. My question is 'has anyone recently gone through the 457 process?' How long does it take from beginning to end? Just wondering if we are being unrealistic in hoping that we can come out by April/May? Also I understand that as a nurse I need to have a full medical, but as my partner and two children will be on the visa too, will they need a modified medical? Any experience on this would be appreciated! Thanks, Emma x
  14. Hi, I just applied for a UK passport and was wondering about other people that have done so and how long did it take for them to get the passport delivered. Ill let you all know once mine arrives too. thanks

    WA off-list priority processing

Hello everyone. My first time posting here. Just had a question about priority processing for an off-list application for WA. I called up skilled migration WA and they indicated that if I am successful with the sponsorship then it will receive priority group 3 processing by DIAC. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

    175 Visa Fast Processing.

Hi everyone, Over the past year or so I've explored the forum threads on this website on numerous occasions to find out various pieces of info that have helped me out. So today I've joined up in the hope of giving some info back, and hopefully somebody may be able to enlighten me as to the reason of the fast turnaround of my visa app. I came to Oz with my OH in May 2010 on the 417 working holiday visa, we both have jobs on the SOL so if we liked it we would look into staying long term. We spent until January this year travelling around the country and seeing the sights, having a great time. We decided that we were definitely in no rush to head back to the UK and looked into getting jobs in our respective professions. I am a structural engineer and in March I started with a consultancy in Brisbane, still on my 417 WHV. Whilst we were travelling we completed the WWOOFing scheme which enabled us to extend our 417 by a further 12 months, so the plan was to start work at my new job on the 417 then apply straight away for the 175 permanent residency visa. After been given various pieces of misinformation and through my own naivety and probably lack of research I was under the assumption that my 175 application would be granted before the 6 month rule with the same employer ruled kicked in on the 417. I lodged my online application for the 175 on the 19th March 2011, I found out soon afterwards that the current processing times were in the region of 18 months, and there was no bridging visa for the 175 should things take longer than 6 months, which was the key piece of wrong information I was given. Fortunately after a couple of months in the job I explained the situation to my employers and they had no problem in sponsoring me, so in May I changed to the 457 employer sponsored visa, which would tide me over for a couple of years until the 175 got processed. A fortnight ago on the 10th October I got an email from Dept of Immigration saying I had been assigned a case officer and to go and have my medicals done. We had the medicals last week and today I got the pre-grant letter through saying that our visa has effectively been granted we just need to leave the country and return to have it come into effect as you need to be offshore for it to be granted. So effectively it has only taken 7 months for me to have my 175 visa app processed. Firstly I hope this gives encouraging news to anyone else in a similar situation, and secondly does anyone else know why things moved so quickly? When looking at the priority processing categories I had put myself in category 4, which on the immigration website gives an estimated time of 18 months. Would the fact that I am in Australia, or that I changed to the 457 visa have any bearing on the fast turnaround time? Obviously I am extremely pleased that everything has worked out faster than expected, any reasons as to why would be greatly received. Thanks.
  20. Does anyone have any idea how long they are taking to process ENS 856 onshore visa applications. My employers nomination has already been approved and we have at last couriered ALL our paperwork off, medicals, police checks etc., to our Migration Agent and they are anticipating that it will be "decision ready" and will be forwarded to immigration within the next day or two. We are in Brisbane so not sure what processing office. Any feedback or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Waited so long to get to this point, cant help but get a little excited
  21. Hi All! After almost a year of paperwork and stress with slow agents and numerous mind-changes about where to apply (Perth or Adelaide) we have been given what could be a fantastic opportunity. A friend has offered to sponsor my husband in NSW (which would have been our first choice!) So..... All great in theory. However, our dilema is that after doing the VETASSESS and passing the IELTS we still assumed it would be ages until anything happened as we were applying for state sponsorship initially. My husband had a job interview here in the UK on Thursday and accepted it. Then on Friday we got the call to say our friend in Oz will sponsor him. Now we don't know whether to still take the job here which starts on Monday, or carry on as we were? I hear the 121/856 visa can happen very quickly! My husband already has a job here, so is it crazy to start a new one? Does anyone have a good idea of timing/processing on the visa 121/856 or even the 457? Oh how I wish he'd been offered the ENS a year ago! Cheers! Lucy
  22. Hi we have just had a positive skills assessment and are about to lodge the actual visa application - the gov website suggests 18 months average timescale - what timescales have people actually experienced?
  23. Hi to everyone, This post is aimed mostly at those people who have recently been granted their partner visas for Australia. I recently submitted a partner visa app (309/100) in London. The payment was taken around 14/10/11, the app was complete & front-loaded (nothing else required by CO). However, we noticed on our confirmation email from our CO (PS) that he has back-dated it to 30/08/11. Can anyone confirm which date they are using when calculating the time-frames for granting visas? I.e. - is it the date your payment was taken/the date on your confirmation email/etc? I am just wondering if he back-dated it because of the police check/medical having been completed around 3-4 weeks prior to submission. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

    175 Processing times

Hi Hope someone can help me. We are currently applying for a 175 skilled independant visa, skills have be assessed, we have filled in all the application forms etc, other half's ILETS is booked for next week, just waiting for our migration agent to check our forms before lodging our applicaion. When we first spoke to our migration agent back in April when we first decided to start the process and they said the processing times for the 175 were coming through really quick at the moment and only taking about 9 months. But i have just read that the current processing time is 18 months! Has anyone just had their 175 visa approved and what was the timescale?? Any advice would be good Thanks Lou x
  25. Hello, Does anyone know how long it is taking these days to process Victoria State Sponsership? We sent our application ages ago but just recently sent the skills assessment. They have confirmed they have all the paperwork they need and that they will get back to us with their decision .... Fingers and toes crossed! my husband is a nurse and we hope to apply for 176 PR visa. Any experiences would be much appreciated. Arthur and Amanda, Manchester
