    PR options help

Hi all, i am currently living in WA and am sponsored on a 457 visa. I am actually on my second 2 year 457 with the same company, and have now been in Oz for approaching 5 years! My problem is that i appear to be no nearer to PR than i was 2 and a half years ago. I have no in demand skills and so am currently reliant on an "employer nominated residency scheme" which my current employer will not do yet as they have only recently paid for the second 457, so they want me to see out that before progressing. The problem is i cant handle another almost 5 years in the same job (over a year and a half on the 457 + 3 years on the residency nomination). My options as i see them are to find another employer who will put me through the residency nomination, which still leaves me at least 3 years from PR, or to find an employer who will put me on an 857 visa, which is a remote area sponsorship and grants automatic PR after completing a 2 year sponsorship. Just wondering if anyone has any other knowledge of something that could help me? If you can get PR after being here for 5 years would be fantastic! And i dont have an Australian girlfriend so thats not really an option haha. All suggestions appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Avalon childcare options

Hi, we're emigrating in Dec to Avalon/Bilgola in Sydney and I have found the school for my daughter but haven't even looked into the childcare options for my son yet. He turned 3 in May. He currently goes to pre-school over here and I wanted to know what options are available over there, whether it's kindie or daycare or pre-school?!? Does anyone know of any childcare places in Avalon or Bilgola Plateau that they could recommend? I would be looking for either 2 full days or 4 mornings a week. Thanks

Canberra - What are your options?

What are my options if I get to Canberra on a 176 Visa and get a job in Melbourne. Would moving to Melbourne be "legal"? Do I have to re apply for another visa or would I need to apply for a 457 visa instead? Any comments/opinions would be appreciated! j

    475 Visa options

Just got my 475 visa which restricts me to living and working in a rural area of Western Australia - we are looking at Mandurah. Anybody any advice for living and working in the area (I am a Health & Safety manager with 22 years offshore experience).
  6. Hi, I am planning on entering australia on a working visa and all being well having this be extended for a further 12 months... My question is what are my options after the 2nd year? I am ultimately looking to live in aus permanently but I currently dont have any specific skills such as a trade... I have worked in banking since I left school but dont have any recognised qualifications. Would I need to find an employer who would be willing to sponsor me? And could this be in a role such as working for a bank in aus? Or would I need to seek qualifications such as learning a trade? Many thanks in advance!!!

    Spouse Visa options

Was wondering if there is any option while waiting (not so patiently:arghh:) for an offshore spouse visa to be granted of moving to Aust and working? It seems a bit unfair that those onshore can have a bridging visa, allowing them to work while for offshore it's a tourist visa, meaning no work. Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts/advice on this?

    Are there any Options

Hi Folks, This is my first time to this site so forgive me if my questions have been posted previously by others and adequately answered. anyhow, I am looking at emmigrating to Australia with my family and I have been working in the Insurance Industry for nearly 15 Years as a broker and indeed within an Insurance Company. From what I can see obtaining an Employer Sponsored Visa seems the easiest route but trying to get a Recruitment firm to assist or indeed to speak with someone within the Insurance Companys is nearly impossible. can anyone shed some light on similar experiences or indeed provide some advice. Thanks

Hi. I have just graduated from university in the UK (I'm also a UK national). I have a Law degree, but I'm considering a masters with a view to emigration? Just not sure whats in demand and the masters is a big investment to make. I've been considering urban and regional planning or a land economy Msc? anyone any other ideas? police? I'm also 31, so sadly no can do on the working holiday visa. I don't expect fortunes, just a decent house, sunshine and enough to pay the bills.

    457 to holiday visa options?

Hi There, The time has come to make some decisions. I'm currently on a 457 visa and I know if I quit, without the intention of getting another job with sponsorship, that I have 28 days to leave the country. If we decide to go travelling around Australia, what are our options? I know you can apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) but you cannot apply while in Australia and it's only valid for six months? Are there any other options? I'm assuming not but I thought I'd ask in case anyone else has done this. Cheers Rob

    What are my options?

Hi All So after being in oz (perth) for just over 2 months i have found a partly furnished 1 bedroom unit out in inglewood and i move in today. Now i left most of my stuff back in the uk and need to get a couple of things shipped over. To be honest this would mainly be my pc. So the question is what is the best and quickest way for me to do this? Also i do have a tv back in the uk (37" lcd) would i be best having that sent over or buying a new one here? Cheers
  13. Hello All.I am a 47 year-old podiatrist who would love to pursue my career in Australia. I don't make the 65 point thresold for a 175 visa, so what other options are open to me? I know that I can gain a visa for a 4-year stay, and I am wondering what the likliehood is of being allowed permanent resident status after spending some time working in Australia? I would be really grateful for any advice. Many thanks.Eileen

    Options in university lecturer

Hi I am new to the forum and need some advice on options available for migration as university lecturer - 242111. State sponsorship in ACT is open but it has additional conditions. It states that you have to be currently employed in the ACT in the nominated occupation before you can apply for subclass 176 under university lecturer. Can anyone suggest options available to me, to migrate as a university lecturer. Many thanks Cheers

    What are my options?

I'm currently here on a working holiday visa and have been working in a small independent cinema as a projectionist (a job I held back home for many years). I have not been directly employed, but have been working as a contractor. My visa is approaching its end and I'm not sure what my options are. I'm 31 so too old for a second working holiday visa. Skilled 35mm projectionists are few and far between these days and the cinema simply can't afford to pay the market rate for the job... so they'll really struggle to find someone suitable to replace me. I want to stay and they want me to stay. They're prepared to sponsor me but I'm not sure which visas I'm elible for.

    457 visa to PR options

Hey, guys, My dad got a job as a professor at an AU university. He and I hold 457 visa. He has a Ph.D degree from the U.S. He just started working in AU this feburary I want to know what's the fastest way for us to get PR. What are our options?
  17. Hi all, hoping someone with experience may be able to offer some impartial advice - as I seem have ended up in a fix with the immigration clock well and truly ticking.... I've been here in QLD Australia for over 2 years now and have really found myself at home - I love it.I 'm a professional graphic and web designer with a background in the IT industry and motortrade in the UK -I also have a degree. I orginally entered the country on a working holiday visa, I then extended this for a second year as I liked it so much here. I received a job offer before this second working holiday VISA expired which met the salary and job type stipulations set out by immigration - so I put in an application for a 457 temporary business sponsored VISA and my potential employer applied to be a sponsor. I was put onto a bridging VISA class E due to the VISA system starting my 2nd year working holiday VISA before the 1st had ended when I re-entered Australia after a short trip abroad (holiday) so ended up staying here unlawfully for 48 hours accidentally. I myself have not heard anything back from immigration since lodging my application, but I was advised by the sponsor that he received back a letter today saying his side of the application had been refused, as he was not suitable to be a sponsor (his business is very small). Bascially, what are my options? How long have I got? Is my only option getting married to stay here legally now? I do have a long term partner but I hadn't planned on getting married just yet....I am determined to stay here as I have a life, friends and work here - the idea of being forced back to the UK is my worst nightmare. Any help, advice or thoughts really, really appreciated.
  18. Hey, I'm new to this so i hope i'm doing the right thing! I am going over to Oz (TAZ) in august on a working holiday visa and then applying for a defacto visa when i get there. I am currently an NQT just finishing that year so come July i wil be fully qualified over here. A 3 year BA(hons) Primary teaching. I think i have come to terms with the fact that this won't be accepted over in OZ unless i undertake a further year of study. What are my chances of getting a job in a Nursary, Pre school or as a teaching assistant ? Or any other setting that involves children with the qualification i have. My degree is in Primary but my class i teach at the moment are mixed reception/year 1 and i have worked in a pre school before. As far as the one year more of study goes what are my options? I really want to specialise in Autism so is there a course i could complete part time whilst working where i could do this to then give me that year that i require? Please help as i just want to know what my options are!! Thanks! =) Laura

    Best options available...

Hi All, I've been lurking for a while now, hoping some of you smart cookies can provide some assistance. I am aussie, my other half is english. I have dual passports so have lived in the UK for the last 3 years with my partner. Everything is documented etc and we plan to move to Brisbane to be back near my family in the medium term. We would apply for a defacto visa as we have been together long enough now. The issue we have is that my other half is in a great job, and no hurry to move. Im in an awful job which is slowly ruining my will to live. I can earn uch more money back in Oz, but its a big move. We have some smalltime debt here, nothing that we cant shift, but if I was to get a good job offer, I would go first and setup home ready for him to join me once the visa is arranged. Are we going to be at a disadvantage if we lodge the visa whilst he is in the UK and I am in Australia? We will of course still be in contact. Or are we better to save up to apply for the visa then I can move over whilst waiting for it to be approved? Any help sincerely appreciated. thanks in advance! Gem

    Visa options??

Hoping to move to Perth from UK within a 12 months. Age 40 next month, married with 3 kids. Been self employed running various forms of transport, buses, coaches and vans etc. Do all admin, accounts and vehicle repairs myself, but unfortunately, all self-taught, so no formal qualifications. Don't really want to start a new business in Oz, but would if a 160/3 Business Visa my only option. Visiting family in Perth during August 2011, if I were to get a job offer, is there a 457 visa option without formal quals or apprenticeship????:arghh:

    What are my options

I'm sure this thread has come up time and again but I'm new and a quick scan and can't find a similar situation to mine. I want to move to Australia. I lived in Melbourne for a year under the working holiday visa but would like to go back. I have recently qualified as a hairdresser, however I understand I won't be able to migrate to Melbourne on that anymore. My friend owns his own record store and has offered to sponsor me as my employer but as it wouldn't be a "skilled" occupation would this be possible? I've noted that I might be able to go over on a long term business visa which enables me to live and work for up to four years? After two years of living in Australia would I then be able to apply for residency? Any information would be super helpful and again, sorry if this has already come up millions of times or if it's in the wrong forum. Amy
  22. Hello all, im new to this forum and it looks great, full of info. Im sure this has been covered before but i had searched for about an hr with no joy. My girlfriend of 8 years is a nurse and working in sydney, just been offered a job which is great. We want to become PR, as far as i can see the two options are a 457 work visa and a 886 visa. We are from the uk, am i correct in thinking these are our only options? The thing we are a little worried about are the rules on the 886, you have to stay working for that employer for 3 years i belive!! what happens if it doesnt work out there or if after 2 1/2 yrs she falls pregnant. would we get kicked out the country?? I look forward to your responses, thanks alot Lee

  24. Hi all, In a pickle at the moment. Been in oz for 14 months on a 457 visa and my hubby moved jobs about 3 months ago (new company) who offered him the world... plus it was a job he really wanted to do... So............ he moved and today been told that the guy cant afford to keep him on and needs to chat to him as gonna have to let him go... OMG... What options do we have.!! My husband may have an option to work for a company in Perth (who said they will take over the 457 visa if he wants to work for them) BUT the cost of moving is sooooo expensive we are in Melbourne). I have read that under conditions of 457 the employer has to pay for return to the UK if cancels the visa, can you claim for moving interstate????? Also, does he have any rights so early on in his contracts regarding termination, when he done nothing wrong and the guy admitted to him that he cant afford to keep him on, hes sorry but bitten off more than he can chew .!!! Will he or can he claim any redundancy package after only 3months. Elaine
  25. Was just over in UK and tried to open an a/c there (want to buy property) but they said the Oz govt won't allow Australian residents to hold a/c's in UK. I've a small joint a/c in the UK but they want a credit check done before I could open a new account and of course that means providing job info etc...impossible as we live in Oz. Is it worthwhile looking at offshore banking options...I want to keep some money in Sterling.
