Hi there, just a quick question and I'm hoping somebody knows - Does Australia recognise the NVQ in Care, levels 2 and 3? I think I read somewhere that is the equivalent to their AQF (?) level 3 or 5 - can't remember! Working in residential home for elderly (nights) and wondered if this could be carried on in oz (possible days though!) thanks Emma:wubclub:

Hi all Your comments will be appreciated. I’m a currently a NVQ 2 qualified plumber with one year working experience. I have family in North Queensland a rural area called Innisfail. My plan is to go out there and see if I can find a company for a sponsorship. I know licensing could be a problem. I’m looking at applying for a temp license on arrival in Cairns. I will also apply for my blue card at the same time. Do you perhaps know of plumbers who have followed the same route and can you perhaps foresee any problems? Is my skill level too low and the same for my qualification? At the skills expo in London last week the vetasses rep told me I need at least two years work experience for a positive assesment however when I approached the OZ immi. stand they told me the plan could work. Your comments and advice will be appreciated. cheers Michael

Hi all We have just found out that an NVQ 2 in the flooring/carpet trade isnt enough to qualify us for the TRA, even though i have 16 years experience in this industry. Has anyone else had the same difficulties? Thanks Jay.

My Wife has a level three NVQ in Paliative Care (Nursing for the Terminally ill). Does anyone know if either: Australia recognises this type of qualification ? There is an equivalent ? There is any way of transfering one to the other ? In addition, as we are heading to Brissy in July, does anyone know of a Hospice or Respite Home (which is what we believe they call them) in the north part of Brissy ?...or maybe a Web Site or anything that will help her find a job. ...She loves her job so much in the UK that knowing that there are opportunity's in Oz will make life so much easier for me !!!!!!!!!

hello all, At the moment my oh is filling in TRA form. the problem being is that he,s been told that we can go on a 175 visa because he,s done an NVQ level II for his occupation (roofer) but he hasnt actually done any college hours because he was assessed on the job, so should that make a difference to our application because he hasent actually done any FORMAL training?? im confused and worried now... somebody help and put our minds at rest please!!!! sarah & dave:chatterbox:

I was wondering if anyone knows if NVQ's are recognised in OZ??? We are in the process of applying for our visa with my wife being the main applicant and are hoping to move to Brisbane in January 09. I'm looking to study for a qualification before we go as I don't have a degree etc and was thinking of studying for an NVQ in Learning and Development. I'm not sure what level this would be at the moment (either 3 or 4) and I was wondering if anyone knew if this qualification would be recognised in OZ and give me a chance in getting a decent job down under? I am currently employed as a software trainer but have no supporting qualifications and am willing to try my hand at anything......... Any help, advice or guidance would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Tomo

 I am being sponsored for a nursing position in NSW. OH has 25 years experience as health care assistant in various settings including general, mental health and disabiility. He also has an NVQ 2 in care just wondered if this counts for anything at all in oz + given his work related experience. He has his name on a number of agencies books ready for when we go. thanks

I am going to apply using my NVQ, I have an NVQ4 in health and social care, I found a website that says that my NVQ is equivilent to a AQF diploma and advanced diploma, this is what is needed to do my job over in OZ. I would be gratefull if anyone could confirm this. Thankyou very much.

Any one else trying to complete TRA for a 'trade' that does not quite fit the evidence required? I am trying to match my childcare qualifications to TRA form, not easy 3.3 says verifiable evidence of completing a trade related course - NVQ 3 in childcare and education BUT it also says the evidence should describe the content of each subject, 14 units ! plus list tools and equipement - do they really want me to list toys, books, nappies etc I have a file with all the standards for NVQ in along with signatures that someone else has seen evidence that I have completed each unit but this runs to about 200 pages - do I need to copy this and get each page signed?? or would the certificate that lists each unit be enough. Any help or advice from anyone who has gone through this (or similar) very gratefully received ta very much Karen

Hi! I'd like to emigrate to Australia via the General Skilled route. My job is on the SOL (Graphic Pre-Press Trades person). I've worked in this capacity for 13 years, but have no related qualification. An opportunity has arisen for me to study for a City & Guilds NVQ in Printing and Graphic Communications. I have the choice of either Level 2 or Level 3. Both are assessed by work-based assessment. The Level 2 should take 12 months and the Level 3 18 months. It isn't necessary to gain the Level 2 before taking the Level 3. I'd be really, really grateful for any advice about what route to take to maximise my chances of a successful application.
