    North Sydney V's Neutral Bay

Hi All, My family and I have just moved to Sydney and currently living in Milsons Point. We have a 5 year old son which we need to get into school and the 2 nearest schools to us are North Sydney and Neutral Bay (although we don't live in the catchment area currently). We need to move from the place we are at in a few weeks and were wondering if any of you have kids at either of the 2 schools so you could give me your opinion on them. Also whats the price of rent in the area's?? We also have a 2 year old which we will need to put in to nursery once I return to work. What are the prices like for all day care in those areas? Or can anyone recommend a nanny/baby sitting service? Any help is appreciated. Vikki

Schools in the North Sydney area?

We are new to the area of North Sydney and are looking to get our 5 year old son into a good school as soon as possible. So far he has been out of school for three weeks with the move and we want to try and limit that time to the least possible. Being new to the area we do not know which schools are good or bad. Can anyone recommend any good ones around the area or point us in the direction of sites on the net with ratings, such as they have in the UK (Ofsted).
  6. Hi :cute: I am a stay at home Mum (27) with two lovely boys, Will (4) and Tom (2). We arrived in Brisbane 1 year ago now, it has flown by! We love out-doorsy things like Roma St Parklands, Kidspace and Southbank, as well as GoMA, Chermside library story-time, Bounce N Play, etc. etc.! If anyone fancy's joining us for a play just get in touch. I remember what it was like when I first arrived, and I was so lucky to meet some fab mums who showed me around Brisbane, and helped me find all the fun stuff for pre-school kids, and I'd love to do the same for other mums. Cheers Helen
  7. Hi I arrived in Sydney a month ago. In the UK I had my own kitchen business for 5 years doing customer visits to plan and sell the kitchen, then project managing the installations doing the kitchen fitting myself along with my business partnet. We also had a team of sub contractors for things like Gas & Electric. I am currently looking into the licenses required to fit over here but apparently I can work under someone elses license as a fitters mate? I don't have any tools or transport at this time but again I am looking into this. If anyone needs or knows of anyone who needs a mate that would be great! I am available immediately. I am based in Mosman but have good transport links to the North Shore and the CBD. Cheers, Andy

Hi everyone Anyone moving to the Redcliffe, North Lakes area, and would like a photo of the areas, maybe a street or place of interest I would be happy to do it. I have been in Redcliffe for 5 years, having lived before in Melbourne for 33 years. Originally from Cornwall. Regards kernow43
  16. Hello All! I've just been offered a job working in North Ryde. I'm from the UK, been to Sydney a few times but don't really know the area that well to choose somewhere to live? Any suggestions. I did do a search for similar threads but they're a couple of years old so there might have been a major public transport overhaul in that time.... ;-) There's just me and my partner in our early 30's so would be something near coffee shops and parks would be great. Any suggestions? I'd don't really like commuting and ideally would like to cycle to work (up to 10k). Is this possible when working in North Ryde? Regards S.
  17. HI we are 2 people looking to housesit for a few months in January leaving us free to sort our permanent accommodation at our leisure. We work in CBD and are mature, responsible people who have a property of our own and will look after a housesit as if it was our own. Anyone know anyone who is looking for a sitter?

    North or West?

Just toying with where to go next and am finding it a hard decision. Currently on the nsw/vic border about 3 hrs west of canberra. The North. i'm thinking queensland, either around the brisbane area, mackay, airle beach or townsville... maybe cairns or a small town nearby any of those areas, i've done alot of travelling and living in queensland and its kinda where my heart is. The West. Am thinking a visit to south australia for an unknown amount of time on my way too perth, i've never been to sa or wa before, maybe i'll love it more than queensland??? quite the dilema?
  20. Hello! I am looking for some advice.... I am British and emigrating to Sydney in under 8 weeks with my Aussie husband (not from Sydney). He is an accountant with a job in the CBD and I am a high school teacher who will look for work once we are settled. We are looking to buy a house in either the lower/upper north shore or lower part of the northern beaches for around <$900,000. It needs to be within an hour's commute of the CBD. It also needs to be a family orientated area (we are hoping to start a family) with good proximity to beach/harbour/parks/shops etc. Could anyone please reccommend a suburb which would suit us? Thank you for your help!!! Victoria
  21. Hello, Just arrived from in Melbourne from UK, have spent first week doing a reccie. Thought we'd like Berwick which we did, however after many days driving around and spending time in various places we also really like Doncaster East, Templestowe and the Beaumaris bayside area. Looking to secure a long term rental asap. I'm looking for some local expertise on the pro's and con's of each of these areas. We have 2 young girls and I will be working in Mount Waverley and will also have to get a flight say 2 or 3 times a month. Just really trying to weigh up quality of lifestyle and commute times etc any honest and open feedback would be very welcome. Which would you plum for and why. Thanks for reading Ian
  22. Hi there, does anyone know anything about these Country Towns - Bonalbo, Urbenville, Merriwa, Murrurundi? We are a family of five (children 4, 3 & 1). Wife is a teacher. I'm into my rugby, the wife into her tennis. We've lived in country towns before so as long as there is a bit of community spirit we should enjoy it. Any of these towns to avoid like the plague? Many thanks, Gareth
  23. Hi, We're moving to Sydney in October where i will be working in North Sydney (just off the harbour bridge). i would appreciate a bit of help with a few questions: 1. we will be moving in to temporary accommodation for around 4-5 weeks, can any one recommend anywhere to stay in the area i.e. north Sydney, ideally a 2-3 bed unit type holiday let? 2. I would also like to live no more than a 20 min bike ride away from work, can anyone recommend which suburbs to look at for a family of 4 with good local facilities and schools, which brings me on to the last point... 3. can anyone recommend a good pre-school for our 4 year old to attend, ideally a "learning" type as opposed just day care. many thanks in advance... any help will be appreciated. Rob
  24. Hello, We are hoping to move to Perth at the beginning of Dec for OH to start his new job - woop woop. We are undecided about areas. When we visited in July we mainly toured the north but want to look at Warnbro, Port Kennedy areas too. It is important to our family to find a good, lively, family Church. Our two girls - 6 and 4 - love going with us so it has to be geared towards all ages. Does anyone know of any Churches in these areas that we can visit. If you've got a website for them, then even better. Thanks so much for any help. Jaybers222
  25. Hi All We are due to move over in December (457 fingers crossed) and will be staying with my sister in law and husband in Mona Vale. We would like to rent in the same area in January or February and have been looking on Domain.com and Realestate.com, but there does not seem to be too much about. Does anyone else have any suggestions for good sources to find a 3 bedroom house on the north shore. Thanks Rob
