1. Hi I am cosidering North Woodvale Primary School in Perth for my children when we arrive in September. From their website, I am aware that it has become an Independent Public School but I am unsure if it is fee paying. Could someone please advise me? Thanks in advance, Gillian
2. Hi just wondered if these people are members on here? Had a look at their accomadation on line and they have a link to Poms Cheers Kelly
3. Hi just wondering whether I could have a bit of advice… We are moving to Perth (north) on 28th June. We are staying in furnished holiday accomodation for the 1st month, this house is in Mindarie (we stayed in Mindarie last year & loved it but we understand that it is costly to live there so prob wont settle there), we want to settle in Butler area so figured that it wont be too far to travel from Mindarie to look at schools etc. Anyway my question is we want to look for a longer term rental when we arrive however we don’t have any furniture really & on our container we wont have as we are only taking a few personal items, we sold all of our furniture to the people that brought our house. We don’t really want to buy furniture yet as my husband wants to be earning dollars & our plan is to buy a house after a year anyway so we would want to buy new furniture for that house. We just don’t want to have to rush into furniture buying so is it possible to rent furnished properties for longer terms as I have only really seen the holiday homes that are furnished? We also want a swimming pool aswell in our longer term rental. Is it to much to ask for a rental that is a 4 bedroom house, around Butler area which is furnished & with a swimming pool? Oh & which is not too expensive????!!!! Or am I just living in dream world!! Anyone know of anywhere or whether this is possible?:confused:
4. Hi, Anybody know of any jobs available for a plasterer north Perth? We have permanent residency visas & we are due to fly out to Perth on 28th June. We are staying in Mindarie. My husband has been a solid plasterer for 8 years & is City & Guilds qualified. He has also passed an AQF III with WA Master Builders. My husband is 32. I am also going to be looking for work, I have 10 years experience in admin as a Civil Servant I understand that I cant work for the Australian public service until I become a citizen so I would like to work in general admin. I have 2 children so I would need to work around the school times 2 or 3 days a week. I am 27.:jiggy: It would be great to have interviews planned for when we arrive. Thanks Hayley
5. Hi all After trawling realestate.com.au looking at many areas from Sandgate to Ormiston (bayside theme there!), I'm now concentrating more on practicalities like public transport to work, and Northgate is looking great for frequency of trains and reasonable rental prices - we'd like a 2 bed townhouse or unit with aircon and some outdoor space, and I'm seeing a few nice rentals just now within budget. Even better, if my current job networking works out, I'd be ideally positioned to train it to Bowen Hills for Herston. I don't see much mention of Northgate on this forum, anyone have any experience of living here? If it helps we are a 30s couple, no kids, not bothered with nightlife on our doorstep (happy to train/taxi to wherever for that) and prefer a quietish neighbourhood but aren't offended by kids playing in the street! We get that in spades here and it's not a bother
6. Hello everyone, I have decided to extend my visa for another year and want to do seasonal work. Since it is winter here in Sydney, I was thinking of touring the north west and east coast where the weather is much wamer and do different types of seasonal work so I would then explore more of Australia and at the same time get paid and renew my visa. Would this be possible to go from different seasonal job places (1 week here and then few weeks there and so on) or do I have to stick for 3 months in the same work place? How long does the process of finding a place to work in and starting take? What paper work is required to be able to work? Can anyone share their seasonal job experience, recommend good places to go to etc... Thanks, G
7. Hello all We have been living in Sydney since November last year and want to ship my grandparents bureau desk over here. We've discovered it is ridiculously expensive to ship single pieces of furniture, even by sea, so are looking for alternatives. Is anyone planning a furniture shipment in the next year which could include our desk? We would pay and my parents-in-law can transport it to your house, they live in the Scottish Borders but are happy to travel a fair distance. We would pick up promptly at the other end too. We would be so grateful if anyone could help us out. And for anyone still undecided or feeling nervous, moving to Sydney was the best decision our family has ever made Take care, Natalie

North melbourne

Hi guys, Seen a few threads on here regarding Northern suburbs but none really where we are going. In June we will be living in Reservoir (some on here like it, some hate it). Is there anyone else out there from around this area (Preston or Reservoir) that come June we could meet up with for a bbq and drinks? I am 33, my wife is 34, my son is 4 in August, and my daughter is 2 in July. Hope we can find some people out there to get to know etc. John
10. Hi Peeps, will be moving to the Brisbane area around August time and need some advise. Hubby is a Fibrous Plasterer, suspended ceilings, Dry wall lining, we need to know where the best area's are at the moment for construction work, north or south of Brisbane. Any advise will be greatly apprieciated. Thanks:wink: Lesley
11. Has anyone had to get their dog from somewhere along way from heathrow? I live in Richmond nyorks and I am figuring out the best option to get my dogs to heathrow from here. The company i am going with to fly them to aus said they could collect them and have them board in their kennels for 1 night at a cost of £564. This is a lot more than I expected! Or I could drive with them myself, this would be petrol money and probably an over night stay but might be a cheaper option but might be worse for them if they pick up on me been upset! Or is there such thing as a company who would drive dogs from a to b ...like a pet currier????

New to North Lakes

Hi all, we arrived 3 weeks ago from the UK and have rented a house in North Lakes, Brisbane. We are a couple in our early 40's with a 20 year old son and a daughter who will be following us soon. It would be great to hear from anyone who maybe interested in meeting for a coffee as I feel I may be going stir crazy. It would also be good if anyone can give me any ideas where my son could meet up with others his age. We have all been together 24/7 and he could really do with meeting people in his own age group, any ideas or responses would be greatly appreciated. :cute:

Out and about in the Far North

We got the opportunity to take a couple of days off this week, so headed inland for a couple of days to stop in a canopy treehouse, a few km south of Malanda in the Cairns Highland region. On the way there, we stopped off at the Mamu Rainforest Canopy walkway, which looks out over the Wooroonooran National Park. The walkway is 350m long, and 15m off the ground with an observation tower which is 37m high. The walkway was built after cyclone Larry and was constructed without having to fell any trees as it followed clearings made by Larry. On Wednesday , we headed off to Paronella park. Paronella park was built in the 1930's by José Paronella, a Spanish immigrant. It was built in the Style of a Spanish Castle and included tennis courts,a cinema and a ballroom, providing entertainment for the public. It was ravaged by fire in 1979 and suffered further damage from 2 Cyclones. On Thursday we visited Lake Eachem & Lake Barrine (both formed from volcanic craters), then drove around a large section of Lake Tinaroo following the Dam Wall (Danbulla Drive). Alog the drive, we stopped off to see the 'Cathedral Fig' a massive strangler fig tree. The picture doesn't really convey it's size - it's huge. On the journey home, we stopped off to see another giant fig - 'Curtain Fig' Again, it's a huge tree, photo below just shows the bottom section. Accommodation wise, we stopped in a canopy treehouse which sits in 100 acres of privately owned rainforest, as the edge of a river. Highlights - Handfeeding wild birds, wild possums, wild turtles and getting up close with a cassowary and padamelons.
18. Can anyone tell me if staying in St. Kilda is ok for a month if we are eventually going to end up near Reservoir? I mean, renting a furnished place in St. Kilda and travelling during the day to look around up there and going to view places at inspection times. What are the trams or trains like to get from St. Kilda to Reservoir?

20. Hi all, The date is coming soon for our relocation to Brisbane in September 2011. We are starting to make our plans and we are interested in the suburbs around the North of Brisbane. Our wish list is as follows: 1) Good schools for the kids 2) Good housing with 4 bedrooms, we will be renting at first and a modern house would be perfect for us. 3) near to shops and amenities 4) No further than say 45 mins from the CBD. Any suburb help would be much appreciated ??? thanks! Martin:yes::yes:

23. Hi, I’m moving over to Sydney next month and am looking for a room in a nice place. I’m looking for something in the Lower North Shore areas of Neutral Bay or Cremorne. I’m 27, from the UK. I enjoy my sports, travelling, music and keeping active. When I’m not at work I like to catch up with friends over a few drinks. Hoping to find a place with either a mix of girls and guys or just girls who are friendly, easy going, and a similar age to myself. I am very reliable, respectful and easy going. If you think you have something or know something that may be of interest to me, please email with details and if possible pictures. Cheers, Lauren
24. Hi all, We are looking to rent/buy in or around the Joondalup, ocean reef, Quinns rocks area, basically anywhere north of Duncraig, no real preference. Where we eventually end up will be in a good secondary school catchment area, but would like some local knowledge to help us make plans. Can anyone please offer any advice on good state secondary schools around this area of Perth????? I really appreciate your help. Many thanks Steve & Laura
