  6. Hi all My English girlfriend migrated here a year ago and we are both looking to widen our circle of friends. A lot of my friends have moved on over the years, and moving to a new country makes it hard to meet new people. I'm 30 and my girlfriend is 26, we'd love to hear from anybody in the Mandurah, Secret Harbour and Rockingham areas that would like to meet up and hang out. We love going out for drinks and dinner, bbq's at home and generally spending time with good company. Hope to hear from people

Hi We are hoping to move to Mandurah in January. Does anyone have any preferences on suburbs? I notice that Halls Head crops up often as being nice. We are a family of 5 - myself, Craig and 3 kiddies - 2, 4 and 6! We love the beach and are after a nice, safe family area with nice parks, schools and kindies. Thanks everyone - this site is soooooo useful Zoe x x x

    Schools in Mandurah?

Hi all. We're hoping for some advice on schools for our (almost) 6 year old daughter. Preferably a good private school, we are catholics though it doesn't have to be a catholic school. We looked at Assumption primary but it seems a little OTT (we're not strict churchgoers or religious types). They want references from our priest etc but we hardly know him! Don't wish to upset any fellow catholics though. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers
  10. Hi We need to rent a place in Mandurah for about 2 months while we get the kids into school and Kindy, sort ourselves out, wait for our 'stuff' to arrive and look for long term rent. It needs to be fully furnished. Does anyone have any useful web addresses or tips. We've looked at estate agent sites but these focus on long term rents (min 6 months contract). We almost need a 'very long' holiday let. Thanks all Zoe x :arghh:

    Moving soon to Mandurah

Hi, Have just sold our house after 12 months, and will be making the move to Mandurah on 24.06.10. We are nervous and excited (Me, Russell, Ellie 9 and Molly 5). We are looking to move to Halls Head area. Having no friends will be tough, it would be great to hear from others in the area, any experiences and maybe arrange to meet up once arrived. Look forward to hearing from you. Deb
  12. Hi Does anyone living in or around Mandurah use a childminder? I've heard through the grapevine that childminding isn't recognised as a 'proper' form of child care in Aus?!?! I'm an Ofsted registered childminder here in the UK. I will be able to work 20 hours a week in Aus as my hubby is going to be studying on a student visa. Do you think that British mums would be likely to use me if i bring all of my Ofsted stuff with me as proof? I'm also a qualified veterinary nurse. Perhaps i would be better off trying to find some part time work in a vets! Cheers Zoe x x

So had a busy few days! But absoloutely loving it! Just wondered if any one had any advice or tips about suburbs within Mandurah, particularly as we have a three year old that needs constant entertaining! Also, my OH is a carpenter and seems to be struggling finding job/agencies so if anyone has any info that would be great! haven't been on here in a while, but was on for during our visa process so hoping there will be a few names that I recognise! Mandurah-Erskine WA

Does anyone know about this area? It looks lovely. We are a family of 5, who love the beach and fishing. The chiildren are 6, 17 and 18, so we are looking for an area to accomodate their age groups. We are looking for a good primary shool, a college where our son can study accountancy and our eldest woud like to continue her studies in health and beauty. We are open to suggestions in all areas of western Australia, but as you know - it is so big, and with a large family, we appreciate your thoughts. The forum is a wonderful way for us to link up with others. We are living in Poole, Dorset and hope to make the move permanently to WA next summer. From Evelyn, Frank and children.
  24. Hi We have been living near Mandurah since November and starting to feel like we have become trapped in a little bubble - would really like to get out and about and meeting more new people, especially for our kids - Danny is nearly 13, Adam is 7 and Natasha is nearly 3. Have tried to get Danny into a soccer team nearby but have struggled (we missed the start of the season, so he couldnt get a place) and Adam is quite shy so struggles to make friends. Would just be nice to get together with like-minded people every once in a while - anyone interested?? Jill x
