    Office Manager ACT Resume

    I would be glad if someone can guide me on this.... My would be wife got her skills assessed from VETASSESS and recieved Business and Information Professional certification. She had a work experience of 10 yrs corporate experience in airline and airport industry (as an Manager) but NOT govt. exp. When we applied for ACT sponsorship, they sent a letter back stating that she does not have govt exp. and there is NO international airport in Canberra. Then, I got her profession re-evaluated from VETASSESS and got her Office Manager certification which should have been in earlier case. Now,when I send the documents to ACT, how should I frame her RESUME in a manner that it is accepted by them. She fulfills all the requirements of duties and responsibilities of Office Manager trade. If someone could give me some points, sample resumes or advice, would highly appreicate. Thanks...

Hi Guys, Have a little problem, my skills assessment is IT Project Manager 1224-11, I’ve gained State Sponsorship for Queensland but due to the changes made on the 23rd September this has put me in category 5 (1224-11 is about the only IT Occupations not on the CSL) so I’ve been looking at employer sponsorship. Problem is, like most people when you apply to employers you just get no response. Has anybody got any ideas, I’ve heard that employers in Queensland like to see people face to face so tend not to sponsor people but that could be just be hear say. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Regards Lee

  7. My wife and I are arriving on the 25th October. I am transferring with my current employers on a 457 visa and start work one week later. However, my wife is giving up a good job as an office manager and will have to find a new position when we get there. There seems to be lots of good jobs available but I am wondering how the reality of the situation is for people seeking jobs in these kinds of roles as non nationals. My wife is Italian but she is fluent in english (writing, reading speaking and listening). She has about 7 years experience in administration roles. She has also completed several diplomas and certificates in admin, marketing and IT. She has gotten references from all her previousl employers, copies of her qualifications and prepared CVs in a resume style. Can anyone advise us on the situation, give advice on how to approach job hunting and/or highlight and pitfalls? Many thanks J

    Office Manager on any State Sponsor Lists

    Hi All, I just wondered whether anyone knew if there are any changes to any state sponsorship lists for an Office Manager? We are currently applying for state sponsorship for my job as an Office Manager but I believe it is only SA offering this on there list. Does anyone know if it has changed at all? Thanks alot
  9. Hi All Myself and my other half are just about to apply to SA Govt for sponsored visa as an Office Manager. I am trying to get all the research together for our application, and in terms of employment am struggling to get anyone to help me with suitable/suggested employment opportunities when we get there including info like job title, possible earnings etc. This is vital in our research section!! I have emailed around 10 recruitment consultants but have received nothing back from them. Does anyone know of any good agencies who would be helpful in this instance? I have been in touch with some of the big international recuitment consultants like Hays & Manpower who have not helped in any way. I have found this rather strange as the SA Govt obviously think there is a shortage of Office Managers and have put it on the wanted skills list. Is there any other info we need to put on our research application apart from this & housing etc. Apart from the fact that Adelaide looks great of course. We are thinking of around Noarlunga so we can get into the city quickly but still have the work / life balance that we want - beaches & parks etc. Thanks in advance for any help. Mark & Clodagh
  10. I am a member of ACCA for years and have been holding a Finance Manager's role for 5+ yrs. Can anyone help clarify whether I am eligible for 175 visa under Accountant occupation in order to get the bonus points? Finance Manager is not on the MODL hence no bonus points awarded.:wacko:

    Hi, I'm new in this forum. Can anyone help me please? I'm a cpa with 10 yrs experience in accountancy job. I'm applying for visa 175 and my present job as bank manager for the past 8 years will only give me 40 points. That will bring down my pointscore to less than 120 including my spouse's experience. I'm worried that we may not be able to pursue our application before my 45th bday. Will I be assessed as Accountant instead? Should I declare that, my immediate supervisor may certify but they might verify with HR. Help please.

  13. Hi all, i've just joined this site today as i've found it really informative. I'm not sure if anybody has already covered this topic but i'm a 'Computer Aided Design Manager' and have been for the past couple of years. I hold over 15 years experience in CAD as a whole. I am a little confused :unsure: - i'm not sure which occupation in the SOL my job would match (if any). The other thing is that i don't have any formal university qualifications. Will this be problem. Please can somebody help me find which ASCO code I should apply for in the SOL and also whether my lack of university qualification will cause a problem. Hope somebody can help as i'm desperate to get over to Oz with my wife and 2 young sons. Cheers!
  14. Any advice would be very appreciated. I am 49 years old and worked as a SDM now for around 15 years... usually IT Managed Services for a broad range of industries. I am ITIL qualified, managed teams of up to 80+ people and contracts in the region of 15-20 mil per year. In the UK, the jobs market is seriously in trouble and right now employers are looking at any opportunity to reduce head-count, especially expensive head-count that could potetnially be off-shored or replaced with low level skills. So, what's it like in Australia right now? How difficuly (or easy) given the brief para above do you think it would be to find a job as an experienced SDM? Many thanks

    Job, salary

    Hi everyone, my wife is an Australian who has lived in England for the past ten years so we've decided it's time to move to Oz, we will be going at the end of this year I'm just a little concerned about my career. I have worked as a bar and nightclub manager for the past ten years and have never worked in another industry. I don't know how much of a call there is for this in Australia or how much I can expect to earn! Any help or advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated!
  16. Firstly, congratualtions on a great site with priceless information. I've used this for a lot of research, but have a specific question, so this is my first post. I've just started looking in moving from the UK to Aus, and have quickly realised that I need to get cracking on the Visa as a priority. I think that I'm clear about my options. I've taken a couple of the on-line tests, and it looks like I score 110, so I've been focusing on the state sponsored 176 option. Here's my question. I'm an IT professional with 20 years experience (technical & management.) My recent experience (past 8 years) has been in the role of Service Delivery Manager (and more recently managing a team of Service Delivery Managers.) The closest match that I can find for this on the skills list is: IT Manager 1224-11. However, this doesn't help a lot, as this is not listed on most of the local skill in demand lists (particularly as Victoria removed it today !) What I have found is 'Computer Professionals not elsewhere classified 2231-79. The description of this is essentailly what the title says. Given that my role is widely recognised (there are plenty of Service Delivery Manager roles on Aus job sites) and that I have formal qualifications (ITIL) what are the chances that the ACS would accept an application for this category ? Also, if I could get classified as this, would it help me as it is on the MODL ? Sorry for the lengthy post. Any advice with this would be much appreciated. I didn't realise that this would be so confusing or stressful ! :arghh:

    ACS RPL - project manager ?

    Hi, We have just completed our first sketchy draft of our RPL assessment for the ACS. I say 'our' but really it's OH's! I've since spent a good few hours using the search function on here today and have gained lots of usueful nuggets of information on how to make our application as water tight as possible. But, and I know it's a huge ask, I wondered if anyone had a successful project manager RPL they would mind sharing? (there are none on the rplhelp website) I hope it goes without saying it's not to plageurise. It would just be a nice reassurer hopefully on length and detail. OH is a little worried about his not showing enough technical stuff as in essence he manages the techies and doesn't actuall write software himself etc. - is this the same for other PM's? Lastly, a general Q for RPL applicants - how long was yours? Some old posts on here mention 25,000 words. Was that the whole thing including references, CV , project reports etc or just the CBOK sction? Other threads mention a rough guide of a page per section of the CBOK. I know there are no hard and fast answers, it's just nice to know we are on the right lines (or wrong ones so we can sort it!) Thanks in advance :biggrin:
  19. My partner will have completed her NHS training in 2009 and we are seriously considering a move to Aus. The biggest challenge (I think) will be for me to get work. I have been an SDM for around 15 years now - I will be 50 in Jul 09 - do you think this will be a major challenge? Personally, I would prefer to do something completely different but I doubt I would have sufficient experience or ability by 2009. Any comments welcome

    Hi My name is Lynne and my OH has just sent in Skills Assessment off for the General Manager occupation. I wondered if anyone else is doing the same thing as I carn't find many people doing the assessment. We hope to have a reply before xmas, it says it only takes 4 weeks.     Construction Project Manager

    Hi any advice would be appreciated, looking to go out as a Construction Project Manager on a 457? (temp 3 year apply for pr after 2yr) visa, we have been told that the skills are assessed by vetassess, has any one done this yet and what does it entail. I believe we have the right quals, BSC degree, experience etc, but are a little unsure of what the skills assesment entails, is it just academic? or is there a practical of some description? Any pointers and advice gratefully received. Thanks
