Hey, i lodged my visa app rsms 857 decision ready end of november last year and was issued a case officer about 4 weeks ago, does anyone have a rough idea how long it takes for the visa to be accepted or rejected after a co has been allocated? slowly going crazy! Thankyou
  2. Hi, Can anyone tell me what timeframe you have to move in after getting a visa? My wife is a nurse with a degree so she has plenty of points for a 175. I work for a firm that can let me work from Australia if I want to go. My plan is to get the visa on my wifes occupation then progress with my work. How long would I have to achieve this? Does the visa expire if there is no entry within a certain date? (suppose there is also a challenge over nursing registration expiring) thanks Brian
  3. Anyone gone thorugh the Modified Assessment? I sent my certified forms 3 weeks ago, and requested my practice verification from AHPRA at the same time, and was sent March 7th..an idea as to how long these things take would be useful - can anyone share their experience?

    How Long???

Hi all, I'm in the process of applying for a 175 visa, at the the very early stages, Ive got my IELTS test next Saturday, the paperwork for the ACS is getting sent next week. Realistically, how long can I expect to wait before the whole process is complete and I can go to Oz? I believe I will fall into category 3 when my papers go to DIAC Thanks in advance....
  5. Hi, has anybody completed an assessment with TRA? My husband although a Quality Engineer here (Mechanical Engineer Apprenticeship served), he is classed as a Mechanical Engineer Technician I think in Australia. He'll be submitting paperwork today or tomorrow. Was just wondering on timescale for completion. We want to get moving for application for SS WA so we can get our 176 visa application in asap. Thanks

    How long to rent?

We have just made a decision to bring our move forward by a year (coming on 461 visa for hubby as me and our boys 1 and 3 have NZ passports) so we are going to be over by the end of May. Now is a mad rush to organise everything and what to do. We are looking at possibly living in Baldivis area and was wondering how long it takes to rent a property. We will have to rent for a year or two until house prices rise in the UK. Can anyone advise how long we would have to stay in holiday accom until we could move into a rental property? First priority would be to find somehwere to live as dont want the expense of holiday rentals for too long!
  7. Hi I am just over 2 yrs into a 3 yr student visa, for a doctorate in clinical psychology in Oz finish Feb 2012. How long for pr if I do NOT go the route of employer sponsorship? Any advice appreciated Cheers

    How Long

How long do companies take to get back to you after an interview in Oz? I had two telephone interviews early last week and I am still witing for a response. Is it just an Australian laid back way or should I be worring that I was not good enough in the interview. Both were big companies so they would get back to me wouldn't they?
  9. My 20 ft container is due to dock in Melbourne end of March! I know everyone is different but how long roughly did everyones container take to arrive after docking? 10. Hi all I was just wondering if anybody knows roughly how long you have to validate your visa when it has been granted. I am waiting for a 176 Thanks Emma
  11. Hi, just wondering if anyone who has recently got their sponsor, and how long it took?? We are hoping any day now to apply for SS then the 176 visa, however my hubby has still to sit the IELTS this month and would like to know if someone has lodged their application for SS without having sat the IELTS??? Really hope someone is able to give us some advice, as not sure whether to do it on our own before the dreaded July or go through an agent (even thought the immi.gov website stated they would not speed up the process)!! Help is needed
  12. We have finally lodged our visa and was wondering how long it takes to assign a case officer these days? We are in Cat 2.

    Long wait over

Longest wait of my life is finally over, 1 year, 8 months, 3 weeks and 4 days since my 176 ss application We got our Visa :jiggy::v_SPIN: Its only fair to mention the people who have put themselves out by starting the "where are you now cat 5 3 and then 2" threads. So a big thankyou to Gill(gollywobbler) Vickymel, Tazz2008, Rachbarlow and GGx0x0(Connie) all your hard work does not go unnoticed in our house:notworthy::hug: Also big  to all the cyber freinds i've made on the great PIO over the last 2 years, you know who you all are:wubclub:
  14. just looking for your stories to be shared about the time between getting the visa granted and your advice after submitting meds on 2nd of feb, irish pcc 9th feb and oz pcc 10th march what do you reckon our validation date would be just working out finances thanks all for your help
  15. Hi all, We're applying for the 309 spouse visa offshore in the UK at the end of next month but, due to various commitments, might not be able to move directly out to Oz when (*hopefully*) it is granted - which should be around October/November by current timeframes. If we make a validation trip after it is issued and then return to the UK, what is the longest we can remain back in the UK before the visa expires? Sorry if this info is readily available - I am snowed under at work at the moment and haven't had time to research it yet  Many thanks in advance! Edit: I've found a previous post relating to a skilled visa stating that after the visa has been validated then you have 5 years before it expires but 2 out of those 5 years must be spent in Australia. Is this the same for the 309?
  16. Police checks emailed across on Sat and just had the email to say we now have our VISA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How long from "met" to "grant"

Hi everyone, I was wondering about how long it takes to get the magical grant after everything is met and finalised? I know that there have been some differences, from weeks to hours, but I thought if people wouldn't mind commenting it would be cool to see - especially as this is the most freaked out I have been, seeing everything "met", now where's my visa? haha! I think I had a secret hope that as soon as meds were finalised, the grant would be immediate, but I have also noticed that there have been quite a lot of COs allocated but not many actual visas... Everything met and meds finalised March 1st, so let the wait begin!

457 to PR... Easy?? How Long...?

:cute:Hi there, everyone... Long time, no speak! I used to be on here all the time, in preparation for our move from sleepy ole Suffolk, UK to the sunshine of the Gold Coast. Well, we have now been here for more than 2.5 years... and, although we love it here dearly, we have been to Hell and back ~ several times! Steve, 41 (hubby) works for Coles. He had been with Tesco for 23 years in the UK. I worked in sales in the UK, for a radio station... but had long-since given up, to raise our boys. I am Andrea, 45, and am now having to face the prospect of returning to full-time work, tomorrow actually!! This is not a prospect all of us face with any sort of enthusiasm... not least of all the little 6 year old. We have Jack (11 next week) and Callum (6). They love it here ~ although they miss their older brother and sister, from my first marriage, heaps. We are now in the process of chaging from a 457 Visa, over to PR, having been here long enough. Has anyone done this fairly recently? Has it been an easy transition? How long did it all take? Coles currently has the paperwork underway... we will then be dealt with by Fragomens, before being passed to the Dept. of Immigraation. Any advice, thoughts, assistance would be gratefully received by us all. Thanks so much, everyone. Love to anyone who remembers me/us. Take care, and enjo your Sunday x x x :cute:
  19. How long roughly has it taken for the paasports to be returned once sent off for stamps? We are cuting it fine we have flights booked for 30th March and our furniture has already been sent, but still not got passports sent back. We provided special delivery return also didnt know if it helped but was a small price to pay. thanks sharon xx
  20. Can you open an australian bank account ifyou are only going on a long holiday
  21. From Hansard, Senate meeting for updated budget estimates, February 2011. OK, so DIAC have 848 FTEs involved in sea borne (non)refugee arrivals. How many staff work for DIAC around the world? 7,924. So almost 1/10th of DIAC manpower is tied up in handling the anticipated 6,000 unauthorised maritime arrivals for this year. That's about 7 arrivals per DIAC person to be handled over a 12 month period, involved in all aspects of that situation. For the 180,000 other skilled family visas granted, DIAC have 7,000 people, or 26 visas per staff member. But wait, those 7,000 people also handle 70,000 457 work permits and employer sponsor applications 270,000 students 175,000 manually processed short stay visas and 2.5 million electronic grants (e-visitor etc) So setting aside the students which are mostly near automatic grants, that leaves 425,000 visa applications handled by 7,000 people, or 61 people per DIAC staff member. Versus just 7 people per staff member for maritime arrivals... Now that's what I call an unfair diversion of resources, all because this Government cannot admit that they got it wrong when they relaxed the stiff rules that were applied to "boat people" under the previous Government. And the good news? Medical issues for less than 100% family of applicants: Moeller is an SA doctor who was working in Australia on a 457 whose disabled child was the reason used to refuse PR, before public outcry skillfully fed by the doctor forced a reversal of decision. The message here is that migrants with "unhealthy" family members should look to regional or sponsored visas. I guess that frees up a few DIAC staff members to go help with the boat people... (oops!)
