Category 4- how long will it be

Hi All Big congrats to all who were on the S.A. smp. We were unfortunately not on the list and are therefore remaining in category 4 for now. My question is, does anybody know how long this means our processing time will be? Would it be more sensible for us to look at other options such as employer sponsorship and if so does this mean starting the process from scratch or would we be able to transfer our existing application. I am over 35 and applying as office manager so this would be a prob. Any advice anyone would be able to offer would be really appreciated. Very sad we did not make it on the list, boo. Thanks a lot in advance x. :frown:

How long to here back from CO

Hey all I have a CO and sent in extra info and the form 80 as requested, how long should it be before I hear something??
  3. Hi everyone, Just wondered what your experiences were, have had everything finalized now ( wifes med docs all said referred but her medical status has since changed to finalized - all her med docs still say referred) for 10 days or so. Have read about almost instant grants once people get to this stage and others have had to wait weeks or even months! Not getting nervous just yet but can't see what might be holding it up, we are LR country so i can't see security checks taking too long and all seems to be well??? Good luck everybody :hug:

    Police checks how long???????

Hi Can anybody shed some light on roughly how long it takes for UK police checks to come back? Sent mine off 10 working days ago and still not heard anything yet. Ken
  5. My cousin has been assigned a case officer and he has lodged all the necessary documents including form 80. He is an onshore applicant. The CO does not have to verify any employment related documents as he just graduated from an Australian university and he is exempt from work experience. So, basically, the CO has to verify the validity of his police checks, medicals and academic transcripts, and also check his identification documents. We were wondering how long it would take to get this done. Does it involve a very lengthy procedure whereby the CO has to contact the police departments in each of the countries he has resided in to verify the police certificates? We are just very curious as all the documents have been uploaded and it is up to the CO now to make a decision. I have seen some applicants in this forum getting visa grants in 2 days' of CO allocation while others take longer than 4 months. I mean, I can understand the delay if there are missing documents or if the applicant is slow to respond to requests by the CO to submit extra documents but if all the documents are complete, then is there a reason for lenghty delays?
  6. Our crate arrived in Sydney yesterday! Its taken forever - now wondering how long it might take to get our stuff delivered to Canberra? Michael.
  7. Hi All Long story short (well I'll try!) our 1100 form was sat in WA due to a backlog and the rush to get as many applications processed before the deadline. After an email from our agent and a phone call from me the form has now been forwarded on to DIAC (after waiting for a month!). Does anyone know how long it will take for DIAC to acknowledge the form and allocate a case officer? Or is it a case of waiting until the 6wks are up before contacting the DIAC to ask them about the status? Also am I right in thinking that although we applied for 176 ss because they didn't have the form we have been sat in cat 4 for the last month??

    How long after CO?

Hey, i lodged my visa app rsms 857 decision ready end of november last year and was issued a case officer about 4 weeks ago, does anyone have a rough idea how long it takes for the visa to be accepted or rejected after a co has been allocated? slowly going crazy! Thankyou
  10. Hi, Can anyone tell me what timeframe you have to move in after getting a visa? My wife is a nurse with a degree so she has plenty of points for a 175. I work for a firm that can let me work from Australia if I want to go. My plan is to get the visa on my wifes occupation then progress with my work. How long would I have to achieve this? Does the visa expire if there is no entry within a certain date? (suppose there is also a challenge over nursing registration expiring) thanks Brian
  11. Anyone gone thorugh the Modified Assessment? I sent my certified forms 3 weeks ago, and requested my practice verification from AHPRA at the same time, and was sent March 7th..an idea as to how long these things take would be useful - can anyone share their experience?

    How Long???

Hi all, I'm in the process of applying for a 175 visa, at the the very early stages, Ive got my IELTS test next Saturday, the paperwork for the ACS is getting sent next week. Realistically, how long can I expect to wait before the whole process is complete and I can go to Oz? I believe I will fall into category 3 when my papers go to DIAC Thanks in advance....

    How long to rent?

We have just made a decision to bring our move forward by a year (coming on 461 visa for hubby as me and our boys 1 and 3 have NZ passports) so we are going to be over by the end of May. Now is a mad rush to organise everything and what to do. We are looking at possibly living in Baldivis area and was wondering how long it takes to rent a property. We will have to rent for a year or two until house prices rise in the UK. Can anyone advise how long we would have to stay in holiday accom until we could move into a rental property? First priority would be to find somehwere to live as dont want the expense of holiday rentals for too long!
  15. Hi I am just over 2 yrs into a 3 yr student visa, for a doctorate in clinical psychology in Oz finish Feb 2012. How long for pr if I do NOT go the route of employer sponsorship? Any advice appreciated Cheers

    How Long

How long do companies take to get back to you after an interview in Oz? I had two telephone interviews early last week and I am still witing for a response. Is it just an Australian laid back way or should I be worring that I was not good enough in the interview. Both were big companies so they would get back to me wouldn't they?
  17. My 20 ft container is due to dock in Melbourne end of March! I know everyone is different but how long roughly did everyones container take to arrive after docking? 18. Hi all I was just wondering if anybody knows roughly how long you have to validate your visa when it has been granted. I am waiting for a 176 Thanks Emma
  19. Hi, just wondering if anyone who has recently got their sponsor, and how long it took?? We are hoping any day now to apply for SS then the 176 visa, however my hubby has still to sit the IELTS this month and would like to know if someone has lodged their application for SS without having sat the IELTS??? Really hope someone is able to give us some advice, as not sure whether to do it on our own before the dreaded July or go through an agent (even thought the immi.gov website stated they would not speed up the process)!! Help is needed

    Long wait over

Longest wait of my life is finally over, 1 year, 8 months, 3 weeks and 4 days since my 176 ss application We got our Visa :jiggy::v_SPIN: Its only fair to mention the people who have put themselves out by starting the "where are you now cat 5 3 and then 2" threads. So a big thankyou to Gill(gollywobbler) Vickymel, Tazz2008, Rachbarlow and GGx0x0(Connie) all your hard work does not go unnoticed in our house:notworthy::hug: Also big  to all the cyber freinds i've made on the great PIO over the last 2 years, you know who you all are:wubclub:
  22. just looking for your stories to be shared about the time between getting the visa granted and your advice after submitting meds on 2nd of feb, irish pcc 9th feb and oz pcc 10th march what do you reckon our validation date would be just working out finances thanks all for your help
  23. Hi all, We're applying for the 309 spouse visa offshore in the UK at the end of next month but, due to various commitments, might not be able to move directly out to Oz when (*hopefully*) it is granted - which should be around October/November by current timeframes. If we make a validation trip after it is issued and then return to the UK, what is the longest we can remain back in the UK before the visa expires? Sorry if this info is readily available - I am snowed under at work at the moment and haven't had time to research it yet  Many thanks in advance! Edit: I've found a previous post relating to a skilled visa stating that after the visa has been validated then you have 5 years before it expires but 2 out of those 5 years must be spent in Australia. Is this the same for the 309?
  24. Hi, My current employer offered me a transfer to Oz and are processing my 457 visa app - expected to be approved soon. Now things have changed and it is unlikely I will be transferring straightaway, but there may be a possibility of a transfer in the future. I wondered how long will the 457 be valid for if I have not been to Australia to validate this? Also if I find another sponsor in the meantime (we are devastated to say the least that this has fell through), will I need to do the whole process again? Many Thanks Tracy
