    Ultimate Check List

Hi I just wondered if anyone had or knew where I could get a sort of checklist of things that need doing before the big move...eg contact shipping companies, redirecting post etc etc....... Many thanks
  4. Hi all, Can anyone please explain to me why plumbers are on the skills shortage list. I'm looking to come over to Perth next year but on every job site, paper etc there aren't any plumbers jobs advertised. Also is right that if you haven't got a plumbers licence you can only work as a plumbers mate?? Can anyone come back with some answers as I've just started the visa process and am worried that were spending ££££'s and feeling negative with the job propects. Thank you guys Ian

  6. Hello We have just moved to Canberra last week and are facing the daunting task of finding a rental property. we have seen a few few already - some fine, some awful - ALL expensive (in my view) we did expect this though... We are going round in circles at the moment in choosing or narrowing areas and wondering if people could respond if they commute into Civic by car or bus in the morning and where from and how long this takes. we are in temporary accomodation at the moment and of course viewing properties during the day when there is less traffic and would like to know the realistic commute times from different suburbs. Thanks so much in advance! Angela
  7. Hi, Has anyone got a comprehensive list of stuff to do before they emigrate, i.e set up bank accounts, get TRN number, etc etc ? thanks Luke

  9. Hey! Just wondering if anyone has an example of documents to upload with my application? So far I have my birth cert, passport and my fiance and son's passport ( all certified copies ), and a copy of our health insurance policy. I'm also going to upload MANY documents to support our de facto status  Do I also need to send a copy of my qualification, CV, registration with AHPRA, and certified copies of my fiance's and son's birth certs? Or is there anything else I'm forgetting?? I am a midwife and the main applicant on the visa! Thanks so much, just cracking up with all of this!!:arghh:
  10. Hi Everyone, I'd just like to confirm whether the skilled occupation list is updated only annually? From what I can see it's updated each year on 1 July. I am aware that the various state migration plans are updated at other times - I just want to ensure that I'm not at risk that I won't be able to apply early next year because of SOL changes. My occupation, accountant, is currently "flagged". What's the likelihood it will be removed next year? I've done some reading and I see it's on various state migration plan lists... but this is a little worrying! I'm waiting for January to apply so that I can get a state sponsored visa (with faster processing times).
  11. Dears, pls be so kind to help me to find out if my job is listed on SOL. I'm a forwarding agent working in logistic / shipping company (organising transport and goods distribution). I have a 3 year diploma degree at the university of maritime transport. If anyone can help me to recognise my proffession for visa aplication procedure. Many many thanks!!!!!!
  12. going through the process of applying for a PMV and all's going well, i'm pleased to say. trouble is, someone scared the life out of me the other day by saying " once u r granted the visa you go on a waiting list to enter and get married" NOOOOOOOOOOO! please tell me it's not true. also if it is true how long is the wait at the moment? does anyone know? oh! another question: how long do u have to 'wrap up' your affairs/arranging the move etc..between u being granted the visa and the date u can enter? and is there then a time limit between the date u CAN enter and the date u actually do? lots of questions. !!!
  13. Hi All Just to let you know the NSW State Sponsorship list has been updated and they have actually added some new occupations to their limited list. http://www.business.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0010/5788/STNI-Update-List-of-Occupations-22.09.11.pdf
  14. Ive scanned the SOL ive checked the forums but im still none the wiser... I work in a grade one listed building in London doing what they call Fabric maintenance. My job includes pretty much all types of building works, facillitys, install, carpentry, plumbing, lock picking!, etc etc... I am c&g quallified plumb & chippy, but as my job title is neither in particular does that mean im off the list or what? I dont really want to go back to site work just to make my job title suit, I would be willing to do site work when I get to Oz tho. Any ideas?
  15. Hey am i right in saying there will be a new list of occupations in july?? Does anybody think there will be more construction trades on it? There are thousands of construction jobs on the internet but its so hard to find a sponsorship! Spoke to a agent from go matilda yesterday, she says although daves occupation " excavator operator" isnt on the list if i look at the codes and if any of the descriptions match what he does then ive to let her know. Ive found " linesman " on the list which he worked as last year so hopefully we should be able to do something with that. She says to be able to do that he would have to be tested by vetasses, can anyone explain what this involves??? All this immigration info is hard to take in!
  16. When will qld skills list be updated? Is building trades expected to be added to help with flood damage?
  17. Hey everyone, We got our visas approved a couple of weeks ago and so I'm working out what we need to get going on... my todo list is feeling incredibly short, so - what else do people reckon I need to have started thinking about? - flights: booked! (feb 11th to Sydney, then we'll drive down to Canberra a couple of days later) - looking into somewhere to stay short-term when we arrive in Canberra, then we can try and sort out longer term rentals when we're there - have sent off initial emails to shipping companies (thanks for various advice elsewhere in the forums!), need to sort through what we're taking before I go any further with those though - trying to find as many contacts out in Canberra as possible via friends and family! - we don't have a house to sell, we're renting, so that's just a question of giving notice at the appropriate time - we'll sell the car, and buy one out there, researching that atm. we don't have kids, so we don't have to sort out schools etc. I suppose maybe I need to add things like informing doctor/dentist, getting medical notes, sorting out post forwarding nearer the time, along with jobhunting nearer the time... Can anyone else add to the list of things we really ought to be thinking about already? Thanks
  18. Hi all I just find out that hairdresser is in WA migration plan for years 2011-2012, CLICK HERE I applied for Skilled- Sponsored Residence (Subclass 886) , on September 2009. According to department of immigration I should be in group priority number 3. Is that right ? I'm wondering how long will it take for my case to get finalized ? I should mention that, there isn't any case officer allocated for my case after 2 years. I really appreciate your help.
  19. 28 occupations have been added to the SSML. Some occupations were removed from the previous list and now are available for “Off-List”* nomination. Hope this opens up doors for those waiting for an opportunity http://www.migration.sa.gov.au/sa/immigrate_from_overseas/state_migration_plan_south_australia.jsp
  20. South Australia has finalized it's State Sponsored Migration List for 2011-2012 program year. http://www.immigration.sa.gov.au/applyonline/skilled/planning_level_status.php cheers tarini

  22. Hi everyone, I'm still trying to find some way of getting me and my OH to Oz for good. If I apply for a job in Oz and they offer it to me, would I be eligible to apply for a visa if that job wasn't on the SOL list? The work I do is pretty specialised and I have a lot of experience, some qualifications (no degree, this is why I can't get in on the Skilled Migrant Visa) and a proven track record of achieving top results. So I'm pretty employable is what I'm saying. But is it worth me applying for jobs? I know it's a long shot, but any shot I've got I'm going to exhaust right now. Thanks all. Kelly xxx :cute:

    Document submission list.

Hi, I've uploaded all the documents from the list at the end of our online application except police/meds. However I've received an automated application response that lists a whole lot of documents, some 'if applicable', also asking for character forms 80 and 1221. So do I need to fill these in too? Or only the list from my application? :jiggy: Nats
  24. A while ago I saw a post on here that listed all the shops in Australia, where you could buy everything from a toaster to beds Please could anyone point me in the right direction? :wubclub:
