I have just found that finally OZ has legalised isofix bases, which means I can use my UK base in Oz. I can't however use the maxi cosi seat that fits into it as it is not approved by Australian 5 ticks... Does anyone know if I can buy a Maxi cosi car seat in Australia to fit the maxi cosi base I have? I have looked on the OZ maxi cosi site, but they appear to be totally different styles! I have maxi cosi pebble and want to know if I bring the family fix isofix base to OZ I can purchase a suitable baby capsule for my next baby. Any help on this much appreciated!

Hi All, We're moving out to Perth in 6 weeks and I've been doing loads of research on cars/car seats and isofix points. I'm a bit confused by all this car seat tethering millarky and was wondering if someone could explain it properly to me please? Is it all car seats that need tethering, or just those between ages 1-4years? Do high back booster seats need tethering as well? I understand that ISOFIX car seats are illegal? (despite being the best system in the world, but that's a whole different discussion lol). I am devastated by this news as all my kids (8, 3 & 1) have very expensive isofix seats. Does anybody take the risk of using them? I can't find many Australian cars that have isofix points though? Has anybody been fined because of using them? Thanks to anyone who responds.

Hi, Does anyone use ISOFIX, or have a car with ISOFIX? Can anyone tell me what used Australian cars have ISOFIX? I won't be buying new, so need one about 3-5 years old. I know all about this system not being legal, so please no debate on this topic!! Thanks

Decided that paying £15k to ship my one year old Audi Q5 is not the best option so trying to find out what manufacturers actually sell cars in Oz with isofix. I know Audi do as they come out the factory like that but part of the decision to move is a lifestyle change so £80k to buy an equivalent specced Q5 is not up there on the priority list! Looking for a safe family car with decent boot space, probably Japanese for reliability or VW if I have to buy European built car to get the isofix system. (I know Oz don't recognise isofix but I'm willing to pay the fine if necessary!) Can anyone help?
