  1. Hi, my family and I applied for a 175 visa in May this year. I was wondering whether anybody has any useful information on how to find out when the applications will be processed. I've come across a website called Immigration Trackers for USA Canada UK Australia but was wondering if there are any that may be better. Thanks and hope somebody can help.
  2. What information are you after on living in Australia? It seems lots of people ask loads of questions and then when they get to Australia they seem to disappear never to be seen again! that is unless they have a question to ask, or are un happy and want to move back to the UK………… Come on people, I understand that when you get there its all hands on deck but it would be good to read posts about how you are finding it, how your time is going what you find strange? etc.
  3. Hi, I'll be moving to Brisbane in May next year by which time my daughter will be 2 1/2 years old. She has been in part time nursery here in the UK since April and as I intend to get a hob over in Oz I will be looking to place her in over there. Can anyone provide any information about how it works, rough costs etc?? Also, are there any official reports like (OFSTED) that can be accessed on nurseries etc? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks Nat
  4. Hi everyone Can anyone tell me anything about The Gap and Ferny Grove? We are currently living in Sydney and are looking to move . Brissy looks good, but I want to live in a really good area, as we live in a not so good area in Sydney at the moment. So any information on the above areas and more would be most appreciated. Thanks Angie

    Request for further information

Hi all, Last week we received an email from our agent regarding a letter from the DIAC requesting further information. Our agent asked us for payslips, p60's and a more detailed reference from my OH’s employer. The letter they attached to the email stated the following. Evidence of employment ● The employment evidence you have provided contains insufficient details for the assessment of your work experience claims. Please provide employment evidence covering the following period: January '07 - January '09 A selection of payslips and P60's Please refer to the enclosed Instructions for Employment References. We read this to be a request for the payslips and p60's only. I asked our agent if we did need the further reference but I have not heard back from them yet. We have since supplied the payslips and p60's but do not want to ask OH's employer for another reference if we don't have to. They were not very happy when we asked for the first one. Are we reading it wrong? Could someone please put our minds to rest? Thanks Jo
  6. Hi Hope all is well with everyone. I have a small dillema and wonder whether it is going to become a big issue? We were assigned a case officer back on 15 June, he requested the medicals and police checks and form 80. We have been for medicals, applied for police clearance and prepared form 80. The medical results are shown as received and cleared online, our form 80 was attached and is ok (albeit showing as required on the status page)...however... the application for the penal clearance certificate was sent over 3 weeks ago, due to a mistake on the ACRO behalf we have receievd nothing back from them. I called yesterday, realising the 28 days deadline was up today, and they said "oops, they would get it in the post then"....should be receieved today. Now with the time difference and the potential for delayed postal service, what are the implications for the penal clearance being received and attached late? I have horrible visions of the whole process falling down around me...because of a mistake on the part of a third party! :policeman: Can someone give me some hope please. Many thanks Adam
  7. Hi all, we've been doing a bit of research on the situaion on prep and primary schools in Victoria so thought we'd share the site with you. The parents guide is really informative. Welcome to School - Publications & Resources - About the Department - Department of Education and Early Childhood Development
  8. Just out of interest I was looking over the Form 80 the other day and it asks for things like past social security numbers and ten years of work history and such. What do they actually use this info for when judging your character? Are they going to check if you filed tax returns and if you worked somewhere that long ago!? Do they really check up on half this stuff? I just wonder cause I lived in the states about 8 years ago for a year and a half and I dont even think I have my social security number written anywhere anymore (not something I thought I would need again!) and even if I did do they really check into things like tax history and such or is it more of a means to identify you if they cant with passport numbers or addresses? Cheers, J
  9. Joke of the Day - Tourism Australia Responds to Stupid Questions I cant say for sure that these are real responses to tourist questions, but they are amusing. Q: Does it ever get windy in Australia? I have never seen it rain on TV, so how do the plants grow? A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them die. Q: Will I be able to see kangaroos in the street? A: Depends how much you've been drinking. Q: I want to walk from Perth to Sydney - can I follow the railroad tracks? A: Sure, it's only three thousand miles, but take lots of water... Q: Are there any ATMs in Australia? Can you send me a list of them in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Hervey Bay? A: No. What did your last slave die of? Q: Can you give me some information about hippo racing in Australia? A: Africa is the big triangle shaped continent south of Europe. Australia is that big island in the middle of the Pacific which does not... oh forget it. Sure, the hippo racing is every Tuesday night in Kings Cross. Come naked. Q: Which direction is north in Australia? A: Face south and then turn 180 degrees. Contact us when you get here and we'll send the rest of the directions. Q: Can I bring cutlery into Australia? A: Why? Just use your fingers like we do. Q: Can you send me the Vienna Boys' Choir schedule? A: Austria is that quaint little country bordering Germany, which is...oh forget it. Sure, the Vienna Boys Choir plays every Tuesday night in Kings Cross, straight after the hippo races. Come naked. Q: Do you have perfume in Australia? A: No, we don't stink. Q: I have developed a new product that is the fountain of youth. Can you tell me where I can sell it in Australia? A: Anywhere significant numbers of Americans gather. Q: Can I wear high heels in Australia? A: You are a British politician, right? Q: Can you tell me the regions in Tasmania where the female population is smaller than the male population? A: Yes, gay nightclubs. Q: Do you celebrate Christmas in Australia? A: Only at Christmas. Q: Are there killer bees in Australia? A: Not yet, but for you, we'll import them. Q: Are there supermarkets in Sydney and is milk available all year round? A: No, we are a peaceful civilisation of vegan hunter gatherers. Milk is illegal. Q: Please send a list of all doctors in Australia who can dispense rattlesnake serum. A: Rattlesnakes live in America which is where YOU come from. All Australian snakes are perfectly harmless, can be safely handled and make good pets. Q: I have a question about a famous animal in Australia, but I forget its name. It's a kind of bear and lives in trees. A: It's called a Drop Bear. They are so called because they drop out of gum trees and eat the brains of anyone walking underneath them. You can scare them off by spraying yourself with human urine before you go out walking. Q: I was in Australia in 1969 on R+R, and I want to contact the girl I dated while I was staying in Kings Cross. Can you help? A: Yes, and you will still have to pay her by the hour. Q: Will I be able to speek English most places I go? A: Yes, but you'll have to learn it first.
  10. Hello, just wondered if anyone who's already had them could help with what additional information you need to take to your medicals?? Specifically, if you have any "illness" in your history do you need letters from your GP explaining what the illness was, test results, current situation etc.?? In relation to me specifically I have - in the past - suffered from mild depression (with justifiable cause not just random for no reason - divorce and cheating new partner !!), was on meds for short period - twice, but have not had any incidences for over 8 years, also used to suffer with migraine, was on meds, had brain scan (nothing found) but have been clear of them and on no meds for over 10 years. Most recently was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but subsequent blood tests were all normakl and after review have been off meds with clear results for over 8 months. Will I need letters and reports from my GP expalining all these things to take with us, or do I just declare them on the meds form and the panel doctor will see it all in my GP notes - I assume they get a copy of your notes?? Really hope someone can help? Thanks for your time, Kirsty x :wideeyed:

    175 visa information

Hi, Do you think its okay to phone our case officer ourselves even though we have an agent doing our application? I want to ask her if she thinks our 175 visa (SOL list) will be looked at from 1st July 2009 (new financial year) ?? I know they are really busy and not sure if they only want our agents calling them if we have one? But we are in the process of applying for a state sponsored visa 176 with ACT - Canberra but really want the 175 as we want to move to Sydney (have family there) and also noted that there are hardly any IT jobs available in Canberra for non Australian citizens ?? If our case officer says we have hope and they will start finalising the 175's then we dont have to do the SS for ACT. Please please can someone reply
  17. Hi there i would like to knoe if anyone could help me regarding the prospective marriage visa or applying for spouse visa to australia. My partner lives in australia and i am in UK........i'm already applied for my spouse visa to australia but my case officer is asking for our joint financial document or utility bills or anything which will contain both of ours name or prove that we are maintaining a proper relationship as husband and wife. But, my problem is i'm a non-EU student here and when my patner was in UK for three months he was holding a tourist visa, therefore, he is not allowed to open a joint account or have any utility bills here. In this case, i need any kind of advise which will help us to prove tat we'r in a genuine and ongoing relationship. P;S:I did provide them my all the emails, itemised phone bills and evidence of the money he sent me in my account from Australia.
  18. hello everyone i need your help. today i have got a co for my 176 appl and he/she requested further information 1. Please provide evidence of employment in a skilled profession for a total of at least 12 months over the last 24 months (prior to your lodgement date of 19 April 2009). The evidence you provide must cover the entire period. Include as much of the following evidence as possible: a) Pay slips covering the period of claimed work experience, b) Taxation Documents i provided reference, work contract and 1 payslip in englisch already. is it alright to send the other 12 payslips in german or do i have to translate them? 2. Please provide futher evidence of your defacto relationship (Please refer to the attached information sheet, which details types of documentation required). The evidence you have provided to date is insufficient for our purposes. i provided a tenancy contract, a statement and flightticktes already. so what else can i send diac. is it sufficient to send some statements of friends and family? i hope someone can give me a clue what to do. i become a bit nervous that something is wrong because i thought i provided enough information already (work experience and relationship) thnks in advance thomas
  19. We may have a bit of a problem regarding validating our Visa. We planned to do a reccie and validate the visa at the end of June, but Sharon has had an accident resulting in a suspected broken back and as a consequence may not be able to travel. Our grant letter states our initial entry date as 19th of August 2009, but if she's not fit enough by that date, does anyone know if there are any special circumstances which would allow us an extension to that date? Thanks Phil
  20. Hi all, I'm new to this site and wondered if anyone could help. My wife and I decided a couple of years ago that we'd like to make the move to Oz but as I work in payroll I decided to retrain and gain a skill which would help us in our move. I am currently finishing my NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations and aim to start my City & Guilds 2330 (electrical insatallation) course in September. I have since discovered that when I do qualify as an electrician that I will require at least SEVEN years experience before I would be taken into consideration for a Grade A License in Australia. This means that we'll have to wait another 9/10 years before we can make the move and it be actually worth our while. The only other alternative is to do a 4 year apprenticeship. What I'd like to know is what are the chances of being offered an appreniceship in Australia? I'm aware that there is a Trades Skills Training Visa available which could enable me to do the apprenticeship in Australia but are these oportunities often available to migrants?? Has anyone been in a similar situation or has anyone had any success in gaining an apprenticeship in Australia?? We're looking into various avenues of emigrating to find what is best for us. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Shane (Ps: I'm 29, my wife Nicki is 28 and we have two boys, Nathan is 4 and Leyton is 17 months old)

  25. Hello I Hope this quote can be useful to all 475 and 176 VISA applicants. It´s the DIAC auto-response e-mail to my request (15-04-09), about the status of my application. STATE OR TERRITORY SPONSORED - Subclasses 885, 475 and 176 If you have obtained state or territory sponsorship your visa application will be processed as a priority. However it can take up to 2 months from the time sponsorship is approved until it is registered on our system. Once registered on our system your application will be allocated to a case officer for assessment and once conducted they will make contact if they require additional information or documentation. Best wishes Eche
