    Visa Granted !!!

Yay finally my visa has been granted !!!!! Thanks to everyone on here who answered my questions and for all the advice I got from reading all the threads.:biggrin::biggrin::biglaugh::yes:
  3. I was wondering if anyone who has been granted a 887 PR visa can enlighten me about what happens with tax / centrelink etc. At the moment we are on a 475 and as such are ineligible to claim any tax refunds like the education refund or and childcare rebate. I have been told that once the 887 is granted that it is possible to claim these rebates and any centrelink benefits which you should have been eligible for, for the entire tax year in which the 887 is granted. I can not believe that this is true, but if it is, I am a happy bunny! Can anyone who has been granted a 887 confirm or deny it?? Thanks:wubclub:
  4. Hi, I have a 475 visa and I am planning to add my partner to my visa but I am a bit confused about the ]paper form 1276 since this is the form I had to complete when I applied for my visa before coming to Oz. What confuses me is that the form assumes I am offshore and asks me details that they shouldnt be asking since I am already here in Australia! Does anyone have any experience in filling this form in a similar situation like mine and be advisable? We will strongly appreciate it!

    175 Granted Today !!!!

Hi Guys I'm a long time viewer of this site. I just want to thank all the various posters over the past year and a half. I picked up so much useful information on this site which really helped me to remain calm and at times sane during the whole visa process. I did my own application and can safely say that without the advice given on this forum would never have percivered and eventually got the 175 Visa. It is an unbelievable feeling to have finally got the Visa. At times i felt it would never happen and was close to giving up on it a few times. So to everyone out there sill waiting i say keep the faith. Your dreams could be closer than you think. In the space of 7 weeks i went from having no case officer to having my visa granted. Keep Believing, see you when you get there, Age 23. Nationality: Irish . CAT 3 Mechanical Engineer. Applied for 175 Visa on 26/09/09. Got CO 30/03/11. Meds finalised 14/04/11. Police Checks finalised 11/05 11. Visa Granted 12/05/11.

    Ying and Yang

Where there's a Ying there's a Yang! Just heard we got our VISA after a long wait. It should be time for happiness and celebration but I heard on Monday that my father in law was seriously ill and has days to live. So when we got the news of the VISA being granted yesterday we just can't take it in really and feel really blank.

  9. In the last god knows how long I've been searching posts on the subject and getting a maybe, yes to it'll never happen given background but it really is true everything is taken on a case by case basis. I was concerned about prejudice given the history regardless of what my consultants view is but that is not a factor at all. I had small breast cancer diagnosed less than 18 mths ago - tumor removed surgically, early stage, given chemo & radiation - treatments all finished in May '10.. less than a year later 176 granted .. cannot believe it am delighted. If this makes any sense diagnosis & treatment was: 17mm IDC, stage 1, grade 2, triple neg (no genetic mutation), node neg, lumpectomy, chemo TAC x 4, 33 radiation. Have to share my experience to give heart to anyone out there who thinks all is lost ... we rang HOC to get their 'case by case basis' response and it really is true. I think the prognosis & % risk of recurrance is important..I included surgeons adjuvant online print out (stats re recurrance risk) & consultants letter stating he thought its a case of cure & extremely unlikely will get recurrance. Hope this gives comfort to anyone who had medical concerns & worried about getting through the process.
  10. found out my 457 had been granted this morning and there are no 101 things buzzing round my head as i only have 5 or so weeks to get everything sorted... I've not really been terribly proactive (didn't want to jinx anything) in the lead up to this moment (although i have done my research) but wondered what the most important things i should be concentrating on.... 1. flights 2. accommodation 3. leaving party 4. removals/shipping 5. new job 6. bank/finances 7. passport (visa stamp) etc etc - in no real order but what do you think.... I'm bound to forget something!!

    visa granted today woohoo!!!

Got the news from our agent today that our visa grant has come through! Diac server still down so can't see it with my own eyes just yet but it's there. Thanks for all the help and support given by everybody on here and also to my agent Ian Harrop and Assoc together with Roger Laws of Romara who assisted with my skills assessment submission to the TRA as an electrician special class and my visa submission and state sponsorhip application. I would recommend them unreservedly for their fantastic knowledge, professionalism and support. They didn't always bring me good news but they were always forthright accurate and let me know where i stood, everything I could have hoped for, a cracking company to do business with! Cheers Chris

    After 2 years 175 granted!!

I'm sorry to post this as a thread but I am just sooo excited! After just under 2 years we've been granted our 175 visa today! :jiggy: The amazing thing about this is we leave for Australia in 9 days! We got so sick of waiting that I managed to get a job at the beginning of the year and so got a 457 visa in March. Just as that was being processed we were allocated a CO on the 1st of March. To think of all the stress waiting for the 457 to come through, and all the money and time spent on that (I had to pay $300 to register as a vet in Sydney even though I wasn't there to get the 457!). And now the 457 is void due to my lovely 175!! Can't stop looking at the grant email, and have checked my online status 2x so far this morning. Best of luck to everyone who is waiting. Your time will come!! Thank you to everyone who has offered advice on here. I've been on a few different forums, and POI is by far the friendliest and helpful

    visa granted

wooo Hoooo Visa granted : 02/05/11
  18. Hi, We have been granted our Visa at long last, just reading the grant letter and am unsure of a question. The granted visas are linked to the passport numbers that were provided as part of the application. If any person obtains a new passport after receiving this letter and before the visa is evidenced, they will need to contact the nearest Immigration office in Australia or overseas to advise the Department of their new passport details. My daughters passport expires November 2011 and we are planning on heading for OZ permanently in Feb 2012, am I reading rightly that I need to get her a new passport and contact Immigration asap?
  19. Hi all, My employer is already approved as a sponsor and submitted their nomination by paper application last a week or so ago. Because they did the paper based version they said I needed to too, which I have now done and posted off to them and they will send it on to whereever they lodged their bit. I have heard that paper based applications take longer to process than online and am a worry wart anyway. They want me to start on the 4th July and so we have bitten the bullet and booked the flights as we didn't want to risk the flights going up in price. My questions are... Firstly to anyone who has lodged a paper based application, is it reasonable to expect to get our 457s granted before the 4th July? I shouldn't need a medical but I'm not sure about police checks as I get conflicting stories on this. Secondly, if the 457 is not granted in time, can I go out and start work on a working holiday visa? I already have one of these as I applied just in case a week before my 31st bday. Partner is too old for WHV so could he go out on a visitor visa and just wait until the 457 is granted to start work? I'm just thinking as a back up plan? Not ideal but is it feasible? Your thoughts and expertise would be great!!! Thanks everyone Emma

Jump for joy (457 granted) 15 days

Well guys.. Guess what at 03.04 am today my girlfriend got a email telling us that there is a backlog and our 457 visa application could be delayed by a few months... Follow by another email approx 20 minutes later tell us Both our visa's have been granted......... jump for joy...... I am so over the moon it the best news ever. I know I have being like most people on this forum looking for help. First off I would like to thank all those who helped me with our application. Our story as I told it back November 2009.. Hi everyone just wanted to say a big hello. I was doing a some research into Australia as things have changed in my life in the last month. I am a 29 year Irish male living in London I am currently working for the BBC as a Engineer. My girlfriend is a nurse and she recently went to OZ for 6 months. She wants to live in Oz for a couple of years. I wasn't to sure about heading over because I got a good job at the BBC. Well I got the biggest bombshell last Sunday week and I was told that my contract will be terminated on the 31st of December. Not good I was in shock when they told me due to cost saving and a case of last in First out. I was up against guys who where there for 20 or 30 years.. So what is next, Girlfriend has just gone to oz + now I am just about to lose my job. Well trying to stay positive is my main aim. I got my experience and I am not afraid to turn my hand to whatever work comes my way. I realise that there is a major recession and people are losing there jobs left right and centre. Now here is why the reason why i am here on this great site. I have being to oz before on a working holiday visa loved it but could not get work in broadcast/media because of my visa restrictions. Now my girlfriend has always wanted to live in OZ. She is a nurses. So the plan we made about 1 year ago was for her to test the and live and work in Sydney in nursing. She is currently about 3 month into her 6 months. So as I said plans have changed, she now wants me to go out to her in Sydney and give living out there a go. I know I would love it but I am worried she will start to miss home and then want to move home after a year or so. So far she is loving it and she keeps saying that she is totally happy out there but she keeps says that she will not be completely happy until we are both together in Sydney. [/font] So I have done a little homework and so has my girlfriend. She has a meeting with someone from work to talk about getting sponsored at her hospital and from what her adviser has told her I should be able to get a DE facto visa on the back of her visa. OK so that was back in November. A update. Well work decided they didn't want me to go at Xmas and i am currently working away in fact I have never being busier with work I got a load of new projects and I know there are going to be upset when I tell them I am leaving. My girlfriend loves it over there and she told me last week there was no way she was going back to the UK. She loves it.... Just what I wanted to hear. It was my biggest concern that after 6 months she started to miss the UK and her family. I don't want to uproot and then have to return to the UK after 9 months. Only time will tell. I am seriously very happy right now. WE GOT OUR VISA'S OK here is a timeline. Please note we applied online as she is over in Sydney and i am over in London. Applied online on the 5th on January: Started uploading Documents such as: Joint bank (we only got one set up in Sept 2009) Lots of pictures of me and her together Both of our scanned certified passports Both CV'S Old facebook emails to and from each other P60 My bank statement showing how much cash I have got saved... Scanned wedding invite My girlfriend sent a couple of documents from her hospital in Sydney (Job offer etc) I think that was it, I spent a few nights going through all our crap looking for old statements etc. God was I stressed. I ask few questions about insurance on this site. We ended up getting private insurance and will probably sort out medicare when we get settled. I am very surprised that they have not asked me for my : Police checks My medicals I actually ordered my police check... My girlfriend did all hers when she applied for a job in Sydney and uploaded hers to the application. Today is the 19 of January so that took 11 days not bad eh. I play on joining my girlfriend in Sydney around the first week in April. I may have a job lined up fingers crossed. Me and my girlfriend are looking forward to our lives in Australia. I am going their with a open mind and will embrace the culture change and of course the weather. I have being on this forum reading all the posts about people comparing OZ to the UK. It really makes me laugh why compare its on the other side of the world. Its not England so get over it. I have being lucky enough to have travelled all over the world, I have lived in Sydney for a year and loved it. One thing that annoy me is why do people complain how things are not like what its like in the UK. Its all about embracing the new culture.. I am not going to go on about this rant as I am too happy to rant right now .... Once again thanks again to all that helped me and my girlfriend out ... PS I also involved in a unknown sport called paramotoring and will be flying as soon as my gear arrives from the UK. If any of you Sydney folk fancy joining me as I be looking to gain some flying buddies to join me. check out the video and see what you think. Its not me in video buy you will get the idea.. Peace 2010 ..
  22. I have yet to tell my current employer of our plans to move down-under. However I frequently travel to China for work and this means they get to see my passport every 6 months when my Visa is renewed. So, assuming our 176 Visa application is successful, do the Australian's put anything in my passport? I know a Chinese visa for visiting on business is printed on an entire page in the passport. I dont really want to have to get a second passport if it's not going to be a problem.
  23. Hi all, I got my 475 today. Big thanks to all the forum members who helped me providing useful information :hug::hug:. With lots of love, Machang
  24. My 176 Visa has been granted today. What am I gonna do? I feel so empty now, so releived, its like .. its like .. its like .... OMG .. Thank you everyone here !! I really don't know how I express my gratitude to you guys. You are simply THE BEST. I want to THANK from my the bottom of my heart to "GOLLYWOOBLER" ( our dearest Gill ) for her encouragement, the way she stood beside us in the dark days when we felt we lost our way and spoke for us. Her every words, explanations helped me ( and I'm sure a lot of others ) a lot to keep myself on the road, learned not to loose hope. THANK YOU GILL.

    Visa Granted Finally!!!!!!!

Hi all, Just got my Visa granted and thought I'd break down my time line for you. I was in Australia waiting for my visa to be finalised on a working holiday visa. Visa 175 Lodged 18/6/2009 Applied for WA state Sponsorship 20/12/2010 State Sponsorship approved 20/1/2011 Case Officer assigned 3/3/2011 Police checks/Medicals done by 18/3/2011 Medicals finalised 1/4/2011 Visa ready to be finalised 1/4/2011 Had to leave Australia for it to be granted as application was lodged offshore. Flew to Bali 10/4/2011 for visa to be evidenced at embassy, this took 3 days. Flew back to Perth 16/4/2011 as permeant resident Feels great to finally have it and to be able to make plans for the future. We did it all ourselves with no migration agents. It was stressful at times but it is achievable.
